It was founded to promote vocational education with a strong emphasis on Practical Agriculture, Rural Leadership, Small Business Management, and Entrepreneurship Training.
In November 2024, the institution was elevated to a National Polytechnic, officially becoming Friends National Polytechnic Kaimosi (FNPK). This milestone marked a significant step in its commitment to providing high-quality technical and vocational education.
As a training institute under the Ministry of Education (MOE), FNPK is dedicated to addressing the challenges posed by rapid technological advancements, evolving education policies, and changing labor market demands.
