    Associate – Banking and Financial Services

    Essential Skills

    The candidate should have financial sector experience and/or relevant expertise, financial modeling proficiency, and a track record in delivering technical assistance programs. Cost accounting skills are advantageous. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and display a strong field orientation. Proficiency in English, Word, and Excel is essential for this position. The ability to execute assigned tasks under supervision and build strong relationships is crucial.

    Description

    The Associate – Banking and Financial Services will have responsibilities that shall include:

    • Deliver defined tasks on client assignments typically focused on the technical support to clients and delivered across various domains
    • Contribute to the delivery of outstanding quality work on assignments within the approaches and frameworks set out by MSC and to seek guidance if unsure
    • Build knowledge and expertise in core areas of MSC’s client delivery work.

    Detailed Responsibilities:

    Business Execution

    • Execute specified tasks on assignments with the utmost diligence, attention to detail, and focus on quality under the supervision
    • Seek guidance from colleagues when unsure
    • Participate in assignment debrief meetings
    • Support the process of report writing and data analysis
    • Develop linkages with the junior staff of the client organization to gather assignment-related information/data
    • Assist in the review of training courses delivered, research papers prepared, curriculum developed, and technical assistance provided to clients
    • Contribute to the development of MSC’s toolkits and other publications.

    Professional Development

    • Conduct ‘Quality of Delivery’/ feedback assessments after assignment execution in line with the quality control guidelines
    • Take ownership of self-development by acquiring skills and knowledge that add value to the organization.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor or Masters level degree (or higher) in Banking/ Business Administration/ Accounting/ Economics/ Sociology or a related field
    • Other relevant professional qualifications in line with areas of specialization.

    Desired skills and competencies:

    • Financial sector experience and/or special relevant expertise
    • Experience with financial modeling with the delivery of technical assistance programs
    • Cost accounting skills and experience will be an added advantage.
    • Ability to deliver specified tasks under supervision
    • Ability to build strong relationships
    • Strong attention to detail

    Manager - Digital Financial Services

    Job Description:

    The Manager - Community Finance and Livelihood Expert, will provide technical assistance to clients which includes community based focused projects and other related assignments. The candidate will be the in-house expert and thought leader for MSC. Hence, he or she should be able to plan, lead and execute projects in partnership with other team-members of MSC. In addition, the candidate should also be able to provide generic technical assistance and project support to other non-community based/ inclusive finance projects/ assignments and support team working on them with analysis and finalizing deliverables. The candidate should be willing to travel and spend 70% of the time on on-site assignments. The candidate needs to have exceptional presentation and report writing capabilities.

    Detailed responsibilities:

    Business development

    • Build relationships with existing and potential clients,
    • Take initiatives to develop Client Relationship,
    • Develop and submit proposals to generate business – particularly for the Practice Group s/he is part of
    • Represent MSC at conferences etc.,
    • Author/ Co-author of thematic publications to be developed from field experiences (Focus notes/ Briefing notes),
    • Actively engage in Marketing Activities and participate in Digital Media dialogues (blogs, discussion forums etc.).

    Human capital development

    • Conduct ‘Quality of Delivery’/ Feedback assessments with team members after assignment execution in line with the quality control guidelines,
    • Assist and support development of other staff by providing guidance and advice where appropriate,
    • Share knowledge with staff and create opportunities for mentoring,
    • Take ownership of self-development by acquiring skills and knowledge which add value to the organization.

    Business execution

    • Lead or assist with the planning and implementation of medium/ large technical assistance assignments,
    • Conduct assignment set-up and de-briefing meetings of assignments where s/he is responsible,
    • Builds rapport with various contact points at the client organization for successful execution of the assignments,
    • Plan and execute assignments with utmost due diligence,
    • Oversee and support the process of report writing and data analysis,
    • Review training courses delivered, research papers prepared, curriculum developed and technical assistance provided to clients,
    • Contribute to the development of MSC’s toolkits and other publications.

    Requirements

    Desired qualifications:

    • MBA or other relevant professional qualifications in line with areas of specialization.

    Desired experience:

    • Experience of working with community-based institutions in a direct or consulting role,
    • Experience of designing/ executing livelihoods and financial inclusion projects for the low and middle-income segments,
    • Experience on forward and backward linkages of various livelihood activities, digital finance, alternative banking channels, microfinance is preferred,
    • Previous consulting experience from the Big-4 is an added advantage,
    • International experience will be a plus.

    Skills and competencies:

    • A strong field orientation and proven interpersonal skills,
    • Leadership skills, decision-making skills, problem-solving skills, and people-management skills,
    • Excellent spoken and written English,
    • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
