    Senior Office Administrator

    Job Purpose

    • Supervise daily administrative operations of the office.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supervise typing and formatting correspondences from drafts and manuscripts and ensuring typo free errors;
    • Ensure responses to routine correspondences;

    • Supervise front office to ensure orderliness;

    • III from the Kenya National Examinations Council in the following subjects:
      • Typewriting III (Minimum 50 w.p.m.)/Computerized Document Processing III;

    Senior Internal Auditor

    JOB PURPOSE.

    • Implement governance, risk management and internal controls to ensure the Institute complies with statutory regulations and internal policies and procedures.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Implement fraud investigation and anti-corruption policies, guidelines strategies and plans;
    • Analyse data on financial records, systems and processes;
    • Undertake comprehensive audits at the Institute;
    • Conduct stocktaking assignments, risk assessment, corruption risk assessment and anti-corruption awareness activities;
    • Review internal controls in the Institute;
    • Evaluate the adequacy of system controls and recommending improvements;
    • Carry-out audit checks and identify any accounting errors;
    • Undertake spot-checks and cash surveys;

    Qualifications And Requirements

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Business Management or it’s equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
    • Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Part II of the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination, Part II of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

    Principal Research Scientist I - 3 Posts

    JOB PURPOSE

    Reporting to the Senior Principal Research Scientist II, the job holder is responsible for undertaking a full scientific research cycle from research gap analysis to designing competitive concepts and proposals for grants and fund-raising, collecting and analysing data; translating findings into management and policy briefs that enhance wildlife management, reduce disease risks, and promote co-existence and resilience.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Initiate the formulation, implementation and review of wildlife research policies, strategy frameworks, standards, regulations, plans, guidelines and procedures.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of wildlife research and monitoring programmes including ecological monitoring and disease surveillance, prevention and control activities.
    • Coordinate and undertake continuous monitoring of wildlife and ecosystem health.
    • Conduct studies on livelihoods, human-wildlife co-existence, benefit sharing schemes,
    • Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) and community attitudes.
    • Coordinate wildlife research data collation, synthesis and translation into management reports and policy briefs for evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation, and disseminate to stakeholders.
    • Initiate the development of research funding proposals and resource mobilization for implementation of wildlife research programs.
    • Establish collaborations and partnerships with other institutions and stakeholders for information sharing, networking, innovations and technology transfer, and product development to support wildlife conservation and management.
    • Coordinate the dissemination of scientific policy briefs and publications for utilization of the information.
    • Identify wildlife research gaps and priorities through engagement of relevant stakeholders.
    • Oversee the provision of information on early warning systems, disaster management, impacts and mitigation and adaptive strategies to climate change in wildlife conservation areas.
    • Oversee the promotion of utilization and enterprise development of wildlife research findings.
    • Participate in wildlife research symposia, conferences, workshops and other meetings to promote exchange of views on issues relating to wildlife research.
    • Perform any other functions as may be assigned from time to time

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following disciplines: Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Conservation Biology, Botany & Zoology, Veterinary Medicine, Marine Biology & Oceanography, Marine Resource Management, Forestry, Wildlife Management or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
    • Master of Science in any of the following disciplines: Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Planning, Limnology, Botany & Zoology, Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Marine Sciences, Biological Sciences, Forest Management, Wildlife Management or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

    Principal ICT Assistant

    Job Purpose

    • Coordinate implementation and monitoring of database server engine, and manages all aspects of a database including installation, configuration, data migration, security, backups, troubleshooting, and data recovery.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Coordinate planning and implementation of databases to ensure adequate hosting, availability and security of information.
    • Coordinate access and security, controlling access permissions and privileges to ensure only authorized access to data.
    • Coordinate monitoring of database and application performance and managing parameters to provide fast and optimal query response to front end users.

    • At least any one (1) certification from relevant professional bodies in either CCNP, CDCP, CCNA Cloud, CCNA Industrial/IoT, CCNA, MCSE, MCSA, MCSD, N+, A+ OCA, CISSP, Linux+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), CISA, CISM, CGEIT or other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;

    Job Purpose

    • Oversee prompt, efficient and cost-effective management of general administrative operations and services to drive the Institute’s capability and operational excellence in support of the mandate.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Principal Human Resource Management and Development Officer I

     Job Purpose

    Oversee the effective management of human resource function to drive the Institute’s capability and operational excellence in line with best practices, relevant employment legislations.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Coordinate the development, implementation and review of policies, strategies, regulations, guidelines, standards and procedures on human resource and development;
    • Advise on matters pertaining to human resource management and development;
    • Spearhead human resource training and development programmes;

    Principal Finance Officer II, (Credit Controller)

    Job Purpose

    Coordinate the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports in compliance with existing accounting policies and reporting standards. Oversee the maintenance of accurate record of debtors and credit control function of the Institute

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Implement financial policies, strategies, regulations, guidelines, standards and procedures;
    • Provide advice and supervision to various functional areas on budget preparation process;
    • Implement budgetary controls and management of financial returns;
    • Prioritize projects and activities for the purpose of financial allocation and reporting;
    • Prepare the Medium-Term Expenditure (MTEF) budget for the Institute;
    • Undertake expenditure monitoring and expenditure review and forecast;
    • Prepare financial forecasting and planning reports;
    • Evaluate new credit applications, check credit ratings and set appropriate credit limits for customers.
    • Acts as a liaison between the bank and the Institute for all financial transactions for accountability.
    • Contact customers on overdue payments, negotiate repayment plans and manage the collection of outstanding invoices.
    • Maintain accurate customer records, process payment and issue invoices of credit notes.
    • Address and resolve billing issues, payment discrepancies and customer queries.
    • Monitor debtors’ days, develop statement policy and implement control frameworks.
    • Provide management with reports on credit risks, outstanding debts and performance
    • Respond to audit issues;
    • Implement audit recommendations to improve financial process and procedures;
    • Prepare quarterly and annual management and statutory reports.

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Accounting, Statistics, Commerce (Accounting option), Business Administration (Accounting option), Business Management (Accounting option) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) by Kenya Accountants and Secretaries Examinations Board (KASNEB) or its equivalent from a recognized Institution;

    • Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;

    • Demonstrated professional competence and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
