    Quality Assurance Engineer

    Job Description

    BURN is looking for a vigilant, detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer with the expertise to analyze and conduct audits, create and conduct quality test procedures for existing and new product line, identify supplier quality issues and craft solutions. You must possess an intricate understanding of local and international quality assurance standards and regulations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a growing organization and contribute to a fast-moving company committed to improving economic, environmental, and social outcomes in East Africa.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Supplier Quality:

    1. Maintain supplier quality rating matrix.
    2. Identify supplier quality issues.
    3. Maintain documentation and reports relating to supplier quality such as mill certs, spec sheets, lab reports etc.
    4. Schedule supplier audits and pre-shipment inspections.
    5. Issue supplier corrective actions related to raw material quality.

    Quality documentation:

    1. Develop and document quality test procedures, specifications, and work instructions for existing and new product lines.
    2. Ensure that latest copies of drawings, spec sheets, work instructions are used in machine set-ups and are in document control.

    Regulatory compliance:

    1. Product compliance with local/international regulations. Maintain a record of compliance status for all products.
    2. Provide support to supply chain on product compliance for exports. 

     QMS:

    1. Carry out process audits within the QMS framework and track process compliance.
    2. Maintain a corrective action database and provide periodic review report of the corrective action status.

    Skills and experience

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
    2. 2-4 years’ experience in a manufacturing industry.
    3. A critical thinker with ability to diagnose and find solutions effectively.
    4. Experienced in carrying out process audits within the QMS framework.
    5. Exceptional communication and documentation skills.

    Head Of Product (EPC)

    Job Description

    The Head of Product Electric cooking, position presents an exciting opportunity to roll out an innovative new cooking product into the market. This role will be responsible for all product-related matters. This includes, but is not limited to product innovation, product design, product development, project management and hiring and managing the team, as well as managing the strategic evaluation of technical implementation directions. The roles and responsibilities are all in the pursuit of the overall goal: Design and develop a viable electric cooking product for the east African market. The role has two specific core responsibilities, and several additional responsibilities that will evolve throughout the duration of the position in line with the company’s roll out strategy. Each of the core responsibilities will have an associated team with a manager that will report to the HOPEC.

    BURN has been developing, testing, and bringing to market new cooking products for 10+ years in Kenya. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a growing organization and contribute to a fast-moving company committed to improving economic, environmental, and social outcomes in East Africa.

    Key responsibilities

    1. Develop the product: The role holder will manage the development of the technology, the cooking product and related software. S/he will focus on the customer throughout the entire customer journey, and take care of all the related internal stakeholders.
    2. Managing internal design and co-development of the product with external suppliers
    3. Manage the engineering team:
    4. Hard-ware development (PCB and integration in the cooking product)
    5. Firmware development for the PCB
    6. Software development of backend, frontend, data warehousing and app.

    Additional Responsibilities

    1. Technology Implementation: The role holder will be required partly in-house and partly outsourced and manage the implementation of any required third-party technology, to suit the local markets and fit the business model.
    2. Strategy: The role holder will work in collaboration with the senior team to ensure the product vision, business model and product are well aligned.
    3. Continuous product improvement: The role holder will innovate and improve the currently available solutions from a UI/UX and technical perspective. S/he will manage Product improvement with regards to user interface and functionality.
    4. Project Management: The role holder will be required to make detailed specifications/requirements and milestones for outsourced tasks and ensure that they are within set timelines, budget and costs. Manage supplier communication contracting and integration of results into the existing system and team.

    Skills and Experience

    1. 6-10 years of relevant experience in EA, product management.
    2. You are a strong communicator, have always the overview over al moving pieces in your team.
    3. You have tremendous experience in managing divers’ teams that might span different time zones.
    4. You are a product person; a people’s person and you know how to set priorities and coordinate with all stakeholders within and outside of the company.
    5. You are not shy to ask questions and are always striving to deliver the best results, considering the complexity of the system and its requirements.

    Head Of Global Marketing

    Job Description

    BURN is looking for a strategic, innovative Head of Global Marketing to provide creative direction to drive brand strategies to achieve growth into global markets. The successful candidate will collaborate with Management, Sales and Marketing, Market Research and Design teams, to develop and optimize ROI of marketing campaigns, support sales growth channels, advise on new product development and utilize key insights on expansion into new markets. We are looking for someone who is interested in working in a dynamic, challenging environment, for a company that recognizes and rewards creativity, initiative and contributions.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Marketing Strategy: Consult with CEO, sales team, and management team to develop overall marketing. Develop and manage budgets, and drive marketing, primarily including: ATL, BTL, branding, social media/website, PR & communications.
    2. Department Management: Manage marketing department personnel, effectively utilizing department resources to hit targets.
    3. Communications: Drive Burn’s corporate-facing and consumer-facing communications, including website, social media, and press releases.
    4. Sales Support: Ensure that marketing strategy and activities are driven by the key growth channels for sales, work with VP Sales to guarantee that marketing is always supporting sales.
    5. Reporting: Monitor, analyze and optimize ROI of marketing campaigns. Produce monthly reports for board to highlighting trends, marketing KPIs, and opportunities for growth. Responsible for P&L.
    6. Sales and Marketing Expansion: Provide key insights on expansion strategy, into new markets. Aid in strategy development and execution as needed by CEO & VP Sales.
    7. Market Insight: Research and understand the media landscape in Burn’s countries of operation. Provide creative insight to campaigns that are relevant to our consumers. Advise management on untapped markets, and advise design team with respect to new product development.
    8. Creative Direction: Provide creative support on ad and promotion campaigns (radio advertising/TV commercials), artwork, and promotional concepts.
    9. Customer Data: Manage the use and analysis of customer data. Provide other departments with key tools & analysis from this data that can be used to inform sales & marketing decisions.
    10. After Sales Service: Manage the after-sales service department, and drive after-sales initiatives to maintain Burn’s strong reputation throughout the product lifecycle.

    Skills and Requirements

    1. 5+ years’ experience in marketing and/or communications.
    2. 3-5 years of experience working overseas (East Africa is a big plus).
    3. Professional experience in team leadership and management.
    4. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications and/or public relations.
    5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    6. Strong, relevant work experiences.
