    Drilling Assistant

    No of Positions: 2(TWO)

    Reporting to Driller

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Operating heavy plants of difficult rating A and B; keeping records of Inventory of all plants (Rig) in a project unit, formulating and administering working techniques; assisting in costing and evaluating drilling operations, preparing; organizing; managing and controlling operators and equipments on a drilling site; carrying out filter and oil changes and simple adjustment not requiring special tools. The officer will supervise; guide and assist in training and developing staff within drilling operations.

    Qualifications

    • Served as plant operator I for at least 2 years
    • Valid driving license for at least 3 years free from endorsement for relevant class(es) of plant/rig
    • Past the occupational Trade Test, I for plant operators
    • Ability to operate one (1) plant of difficult rating “A” and two (2) of difficult rating “B”
    • Attended a refresher course for plant /Driller operators not lasting for 1 week within a period of 3(three) years at KIHBT or any other recognized Institution
    • Knowledge of Traffic Act/Drilling and other related regulations
    • Attended First Aid course lasting not less than 1 (one) week from St. John’s Ambulance or KIHBT or any other recognized Institution
    • Shown merit and ability in work performance
    • ‘O’ Level of education

    Plumber III

    Reporting to water supply operator in charge.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Repair /replace leaking pipes and exposing pipes
    • Identify and report anomalies in the distributing system

    Duties and responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities will involve:- Implementation of the strategic plan; Coordinate the setting of performance targets; Handling technical, administrative, human resource,

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have;

    • Served in the grade of Deputy Director of Environment and Natural Resources or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service or any recognized entity for a minimum period of three (3) years.
    • Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines:- Environmental Science and Management, Aquatic science ,Natural resources management, Forestry, Geospatial information and Remote sensing, Bio-diverse systems Engineering, Water Resources Management, Agriculture and any other relevant course from a recognized institution.
    • Masters degree in any of the following disciplines:-Environmental economics, Natural Resource Management, aquatic sciences, Environmental Education/Zoology/Health/ Chemistry, Agriculture, Land and water Management and any other related field from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
    • Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development program lasting not less than six (6) weeks or equivalent management training from a recognized institutions.
    • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution;
    • Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and exhibited a thorough understanding of national goals, policies, objectives and ability to relate them to proper management of environment and natural resources.
    • Be a member of a professional body in good standing (lead expert with NEMA, lead expert registered with Environmental Institute of Kenya (EIK).

    Duties and responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail :-formulating policies, standards, programs and projects for irrigation development, promoting research development and innovation in irrigation sector; coordinating the planning, designing, construction, operation and maintenance of irrigation systems, liaising with development partners and other relevant stakeholders in irrigation development, supervising monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects, and promoting research and technology transfers in irrigation and land reclamation; Any other duties assigned.

    Requirements for Appointment.

    • Have served in the grade of Principal Superintending Engineer (Irrigation) for at least three (3) years.
    • Be in possession of a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural and Bio systems Engineering, , Biomechanical and Processing or Soil and Water Environmental Engineering from a recognized institution.
    • Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines; Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural systems Engineering, Soil and Water engineering Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Management, Water Resources Engineering or irrigation Engineering from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
    • Be registered/ registrable by Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)/Kenya Engineering Technologists Registration Board. (KETRB)
    • A member of a professional body in good standing.
    • Have attended a strategic leadership Development course in lasting not less than six (6) weeks or equivalent Management Training from a recognized institution;

    Socio Economic Officer

    Reports to the Director climate change

    The key responsibilities:

    • Act as county-based lead resource for contractor’s engagement in relation to implementation and skills for climate change programmes to address under performance vs the projects target and commitments
    • Work closely with supply chain partners to ensure contractual training and workforce development and diversity objectives are achieved
    • Ensure a consistent and standardized approach to reporting and monitoring social-economic data.
    • Development of new projects and initiatives with support joint venture key Performance Indicators (KPIS)
    • Engagement of stakeholders for Public participation to ensure greater social inclusion and Public accountability
    • Work in partnership with development agencies to ensure that appropriate funding and resources are directed towards the socio-economic benefits to the programme
    • To act in a corporate leadership role ensuring that its overall socio-economic objectives are achieved, whilst actively promoting the vision and values of the development within the Climate Directorate
    • Develop strong partnership with local schools, colleges, universities in the growth/ promotion of climate change adaptation programmes

    Qualifications

    • Must have served in Management position or equivalent in public service/ Private sector/ Public Business organization for atleast three (3) years.
    • Bachelors in any of the following disciplines: sociology and political science; Business administration; economic; finance and any other related discipline
    • Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines: Project planning and management; Business Administration (MBA) will be an added advantage.
    • Certificate in senior management course costing not less than 4(four) weeks or other equivalent management Training from a recognized institution.
    • Certificate in Computer applications and has demonstrated management; Administrative and professional competence in week performance.

    Director Climate Change

    J/G “R”

    Reporting to County Chief Officer - Environment and Natural Resources

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Developing and implementing Climate Change adaptation policy, legislation, strategies and action plans
    • Capture activity data and coordinate its analysis, documentation and dissemination
    • Identify research and training needs and method of disseminating information relating to climate change to stakeholders
    • Establish and manage Climate change registry of actions by sectors, Climate Support Organizations and private sector
    • Prepare quarterly functional and annual reports for approvals by steering and planning committee, Climate Change Coordination Unit before presentation to county Assembly
    • Mainstream Disaster risk reduction in development projects and spartial plans County wide
    • Mainstreams of Climate change in CIDPs and regularly update them
    • Strengthen current Monitoring and Evaluation system to allow assessment and report on resilience building
    • Development of concept notes for resource mobilization to allow Financial support from National Treasury Climate Finance Fund and other Development partner involved in climate change funding
    • Establish knowledge management centers on Climate change at Sub County level
    • Any other duties* as assigned.

    Qualifications

    The Officer must have:

    • Served in a management Position in Climate Change matters or comparable Management position or relevant position in civil service or equivalent for a period of three (3) years
    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines Climate change and development; Geo information sciences; Environmental management and conservation; water resources and environment; Geography; Climate change adaptation, meteorology Environmental law from a recognized institution
    • Master’s degree in any of the following discipline: Climate change adaptation; Environmental Chemistry; Geo information sciences; limnology and hydrology or any other equivalent discipline
    • Certificate in strategic leadership development programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution or other equivalent Management Training.
    • Certificate in computer application from a recognized institution
    • Demonstrated administrative and professional competence in work performance and results
    • Be registered with relevant professional body with good standing
