This vacancy exists in the following Departments of the University:
Applicants must be holders of an earned PhD degree from a recognized University in the relevant areas of specialty. In addition, applicants must also:
i. Have at least eight (8) years of University teaching experience, three (3) of which as full time Senior Lecturer;
ii. Have at least 48 publication points, 32 of which from articles in refereed scholarly journals since being appointed Senior Lecturer;
iii. Have successfully supervised to completion at least five (5) Masters and one (1) PhD students since being appointed Senior Lecturer;
iv. Show evidence of successfully securing at least two (2) research grants since being appointed Senior Lecturer;
v. Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops;
i. Show evidence of active participation/leadership in departmental and University activities; and
vi. Show evidence of continued research.

GRADE III/IV (Ref: UoEm/AC/12/2016)
Applicants for this position must be holders of KCSE D+/KCE Div. IV. In addition, the applicants must have;
i. At least three (3) years’ relevant working experience;
ii. Good customer service and communication skills; and
iii. A valid certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
GRADE 12 (Re-advertised) Ref: UoEm/LO/12/16
Reporting to the Principal, the Legal Officer will provide legal services to the University on matters of law, contribute to protection of legal rights of the University and enhance statutory compliance.
Applicants for this position must be holders of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university. In addition, the applicant must:
i. Have at least three (3) years post bar admission working experience in a busy legal environment;
ii. Possess a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
iii. Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate
iv. Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya;
v. Have excellent analytical, interpretative, report writing and presentation skills;
vi. Demonstrate personal drive, initiative and integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality;
vii. Be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills; and
viii. Be conversant with relevant computer based management information systems.
Those who have CPS qualifications will have an added advantage.
GRADE 11 (Ref: UoEm/DHR/12/2016)
Applicants for this position must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or Business related area and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from a recognized University. In addition, applicants must:
i. Have a minimum of three (3) years’ post qualification work experience in a busy HR office holding a responsible position;
ii. Have excellent analytical, interpretative, report writing and presentation skills
iii. Be conversant with regulations relating to labor practices in Kenya;
iv. Possess good counseling and problem solving skills;
v. Be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
vi. Be conversant with the relevant computer based management systems; and
vii. Be registered with the relevant professional body.
Those who have attended senior management courses will have an added advantage.
GRADE 11 (UoEm/QS/12/2016)
Applicants for this position must be holders of a Bachelor degree in Quantity Surveying or Building Economics from a recognized university. In addition, the applicant must:
i. Have at least five (5) years post qualification working experience in a busy construction or similar environment;
ii. Have strong numeracy, financial management and negotiation skills;
iii. Demonstrate ability to write clear and precise reports and to disseminate complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of consumers;
iv. Possess business etiquette with a strong work ethic, high level of integrity, results oriented, and ability to deliver under pressure;
v. Be conversant with the relevant computer based costing packages; and
vi. Be registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS) Those registered with the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) will have an added advantage
GRADE 11 (Re-advertised) (Ref: UoEm/CAM/12/2016)
Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Planning, Administration and Finance), the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating catering and accommodation services at the University. Applicants for this position must be holders of a Master’s degree in Institutional Management or Hospitality related field from a recognized University. In addition, applicants must:
i. Have a minimum of three (3) years’ post qualification experience in a busy catering or accommodation department preferably at an institution of higher learning;
ii. Have experience in preparing and controlling a budget, managing stock levels and ordering supplies;
iii. Be conversant with hygiene, health and safety regulations in catering and accommodation and carrying out risk assessments as necessary;
iv. Be able to manage and motivate catering and accommodation staff towards excellent performance; and
v. Be conversant with the relevant computer based management information systems.
Those with a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with five (5) years’ post qualification experience and meet the above requirements may also be considered.
GRADE C/D (Ref: UoEm/ASA/12/2016)
Reporting to the ICT Manager, the System Administrator shall be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
Applicants for this position must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Technology, Mathematics and Computer Science or related field from a recognized University. In addition, applicants must have:
i. Three (3) years relevant work experience in an IT department of a large institution;
ii. Knowledge of programming languages such as PHP, C, C#, Java, .NET, and Visual Basic;
iii. Proven exposure to Mobile Application Development;
iv. Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills;
v. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a team player; and
vi. Demonstrated outstanding level of professionalism in providing administrative support including ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.

Applicants for this position must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive Option) or Transport and Logistics Management or related field from a recognized University. In addition, applicants must:
i. Have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a busy transport department of a large organization;
ii. Be conversant with management of fleet vehicles including preparation of schedules for maintenance and service of vehicles;
iii. Be able to efficiently manage a team of drivers and vehicles and coordinate route plans;
iv. Have a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations;
v. Be in possession of a valid Driving license Class B C E; and
vi. Be conversant with the relevant computer based management information systems.
TECHNICIAN (Grade C/D) (Ref: UoEm/TEC 1/12/2016)
Applicants must be holders of KCSE C /KCE DIV III and above and a Higher National Diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant area from a recognized institution. In addition they must:
i. Have at least three (3) year’s relevant work experience as a Technician Grade A/B or comparable position preferably in an institution of higher learning;
ii. Demonstrate ability to maintain laboratory equipment;
iii. Demonstrate knowledge in procurement of laboratory equipment and materials and maintaining inventory records;
iv. Be able to supervise students during practical sessions; and
v. Show evidence of computer literacy.
TECHNICIAN (Grade A/B) (Ref: UoEm/TEC 2/12/2016)
Applicants must be holders of KCSE C /KCE DIV III and above and a Diploma in the relevant area from a recognized institution. In addition they must:
i. Have at least three (3) year’s relevant work experience as a Junior Technician or comparable position preferably in an institution of higher learning;
ii. Demonstrate ability to maintain laboratory equipment;
iii. Be able to supervise students during practical sessions; and
iv. Show evidence of computer literacy.
PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICER – GRADE A/B (Ref: UoEm/PHO/12/2016)
Applicants for this position must be holders of KCSE C/KCE Div. III and a Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences or Public Health or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution. In addition, the applicants must;
i. Have at least three (3) years’ working experience as a Public Health Officer in a reputable organization;
ii. Be registered with the Public Health Officers’ and Technicians’ Board of Kenya and have a valid practice license;
iii. Be a member of Public Health Officers’ body (APHOK)
iv. Have proven knowledge of relevant legislations and professional standards;
v. Have good communication, analytical and organizational skills;
vi. Be able to prepare and present reports; and
vii. Be computer literate.
