    Critical Care Nurses (KRCCN)

    REF: TNH/HRD/KRCCN/02/2021

    Reporting to the Charge Nurse – Critical Care Unit, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following roles amongst others: –

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Identifying a patient’s specific and critical needs and adopt a care plans as necessary to meet those needs.
    • Performing approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based on the patient’s clinical status.
    • Advocating for the patient’s and family’s needs and proving emotional support for both the patient and their families.
    • Setting up and monitoring medical equipment and devices such as cardiac monitors, mechanical ventilators, alarms, oxygen delivery equipment etc.
    • Providing special therapies i.e. dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, mechanical ventilation and inotropic support.
    • Maintaining the Hospitals policies, standard and procedures of nursing care.
    • Participating in professional organisations and continuing education to improve on technical knowledge and skills.
    • Advocating for patients, treating them with dignity and according them privacy.
    • Communicating effectively with patients, patients’ families and all other care givers.
    • Communicating effectively with doctors and other hospital departments for cooperative and supportive relationships.
    • Supporting Charge Nurse in administrative roles, monitoring staff performance and staff development.
    • Maintaining and observing infection control measures for staff and patients wellbeing.
    • Upholding statutory regulations as required by Nursing Council of Kenya and the laws of Kenya.
    • Safe-guarding Hospital’s and patients’ confidential information and property.
    • Reporting all complaints and incidents to the In-charge as they occur.
    • Prioritizing nursing care for critically ill patients based on assessment data and identified needs.
    • Providing accurate documentation and proper record keeping of patients’ treatment.
    • Provide effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation
    • Providing mentorship to junior nurses and students
    • Performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time depending on the need and urgency.

    Qualifications, Skills & Experience

    • KRN, KRM/KRM, KRCHN, BSc. Nursing
    • Must be a Kenya Registered Critical Care Nurse.
    • 4 years of relevant work experience 2 of which must be after post-basic qualification.
    • Mentorship training.
    • BLS Certified

    Peri-Operative Nurses (KRPON)

    REF: TNH/HRD/KRPON/02/2021

    Reporting to the Charge Nurse – Theatres, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following roles amongst others: –

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Conducting an individualized patient assessment, prioritizing the data collection based on the patient’s immediate condition or needs within timeframe as per the standard operating procedures.
    • Developing plan of care that is individualized for the patient reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
    • Performing appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Performing therapeutic nursing interventions as established by individualized plan of care for the patient and their family.
    • Providing individualized patient/family education and discharge planning customized to the patient and their family.
    • Documenting patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention and progress towards problem resolution.
    • Initiating emergency resuscitative measures according to resuscitation, basic and advanced life support protocols.
    • Maintaining confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and client facility staff.
    • Providing care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the patient’s and family’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights.
    • Reporting patient’s condition to appropriate personnel during each shift.
    • Ensuring that all supplies necessary to perform surgical procedures are availed to the surgeon and the supporting team.
    • Observing infection control measures and maintaining sterility in the operating theatres
    • Applying safety mearing throughout the perioperative period
    • Monitoring physiological and psychological status of the patients.
    • Maintaining current competency in perioperative nursing through continuing nursing education.
    • Performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time depending on the need and urgency.

    Qualifications, Skills & Experience

    • KRN, KRN/KRM, KRCHN, BSc. Nursing
    • Must be a Kenya Registered Perioperative Nurse.
    • 4 years of relevant work experience 2 of which must be after post-basic qualification.

    ONCOLOGY NURSES (KRON), REF: TNH/HRD/KRON/02/2021

    Reporting to the Team Leader – Oncology, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following roles amongst others: –

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Creating individualized care plans on patient under their supervision and care.
    • Recognizing and treat cancer-related issues.
    • Collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge.
    • Doing cancer research to enhance treatment protocols assigned to cancer patients.
    • Providing support resources to the patient and their significant others to promote positive outlook.
    • Teaching patients and their significant others regarding treatment expectations.
    • Observing and record the patient’s progress on a constant basis.
    • Charting the patient’s response to treatment and medication.

    Qualifications, Skills & Experience

    • KRN, KRCHN, Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
    • Diploma in Oncology Nursing is an added advantage.

    Oncology Nurses (KRON)

    Reporting to the Charge Nurse – NICU/NHDU, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following roles amongst others: –

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    • To utilize the standards and procedures of nursing care to continuously improve the quality of nursing and exceed the patients’ expectations and participate in audits within their departments.
    • To be a role model of the nursing profession and exercise professionalism at all times while being an effective clinical leadership resource.
    • To communicate with other professionals and all relevant parties in order to advocate effectively for the patients.

    Nephrology Nurses

    Reporting to the Charge Nurse – Renal Unit, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following roles amongst others: –

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Promptly notifying the appropriate medical practitioner of any problems that occur during dialysis treatments.
    • Working with the Dialysis Technicians to ensure that dialysis machines and equipment are set up correctly.
    • Teaching patients and their family members how to operate home dialysis machines should they decide on home dialysis therapy.
    • Educating patients on dialysis treatment options, kidney disease management, as well as suitable nutrition and exercise regimens.

    • Certification through the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) is an added advantage.
    • Proven experience working as a Dialysis Nurse.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
    • Experience in a level 5 or 6 Hospital or a mission Hospital
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and observation skills.
    • The ability to operate dialysis machines.
    • The ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
    • Patient and compassionate.
    • BLS certified.
