    Airfield Manager

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Oversee daily management of Diego Garcia airfield operations to ensure compliance with all Federal, Host Nation, and British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) laws and regulations, instructions, and directives.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for safe and functional airfield operations, maintaining 24/7 operational readiness, including identifying and rectifying unsafe conditions or closing the airfield to air traffic, if necessary.
    • Advise the Government Air Operations Officer on airfield operational status, including recommendations for opening/closing the airfield based on personnel, equipment, or facility capabilities.
    • Enforce compliance with operational references, including Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization Programs (NATOPS), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and other key standards governing airfield management.
    • Lead and manage airfield-related construction, repairs, and operations to ensure safety and adherence to security requirements and industry best practices.
    • Manage and supervise Airfield Management Division personnel and coordinate activities within a multi-function base operations environment.
    • Prepare and submit documentation to contracting officials regarding personnel removal/replacement, including statements of qualifications, position descriptions, and letters of commitment for temporary or permanent replacements.
    • Train and guide airfield staff to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, operational readiness, and airfield management best practices.
    • Provide experiential leadership on Navy airfield operations, managing diverse requirements, such as multiple runways and aircraft types, and fulfilling varied command support needs.
    • Conduct regular audits, reassessments, and inspections to maintain compliance and safety across airfield operations.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration/Management or Engineering, from a recognized U.S. or U.K. accredited institution or equivalent.
    • At least ten (10) years of experience in a position of overall management responsibility for an airfield, with experience equal to or greater than that of Diego Garcia airfield operations.
    • Knowledge of DoD, FAA, NATOPS, UFC, ICAO, and other relevant regulations, standards, laws, and instructions as they pertain to airfield management and operations.
    • Familiarity with airfield security regulations, safety requirements, and practices to ensure all work on the airfield is completed in a safe and secure environment.
    • Experience simultaneously managing airfield operations within a multi-function base operations environment.
    • Proficiency in the English language (read, write, and communicate fluently) to comply with operational and contractual requirements, including regulations, operating procedures, manuals, and training content.
    • Must be medically fit to perform all assigned duties, including frequent travel to international locations.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in remote locations similar to Diego Garcia, with a multi-national workforce.
    • Familiarity with Navy airfield operations, practices, and policies, including planning and executing airfield management division activities.
    • Experiential knowledge regarding complex airfield operations involving multiple runways, helipads, varying aircraft types, and unique command support requirements.
    • Demonstrated management or supervisory capabilities in austere or remote environments.
    • Knowledge of BIOT laws and Host Nation regulations affecting airfield operations.

    SWMC Equipment Operator

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    The SWMC Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of automotive vehicles and equipment required for solid waste management operations. This includes ensuring compliance with equipment operation and licensing regulations. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Operating automotive vehicles and equipment in accordance with NAVFAC P-300 and 49 CFR Chapter III Part 383 and Part 391 compliance standards for equipment operation and load transportation.
    • Transporting loads relevant to solid waste management, ensuring proper handling and safety in line with operational regulations.
    • Conducting pre-operation and post-operation equipment checks to ensure equipment safety and readiness.
    • Maintaining vehicles and equipment in a clean, safe, and operational condition by performing and documenting routine inspections, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance as needed.
    • Ensuring current and applicable operator licenses are maintained and in possession during all periods of equipment operation.
    • Adhering to safety guidelines and regulations related to equipment operation and load transportation, including complying with waste management protocols.
    • Collaborating with supervisors and other team members to prioritize tasks and complete assigned responsibilities.
    • Documenting and maintaining records of equipment operation, maintenance, and load transportation activities.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Fully qualified and licensed to operate automotive vehicles and equipment in compliance with NAVFAC P-300 and 49 CFR Chapter III Part 383 and 391.
    • Current and applicable operator licenses must be valid and in possession during all periods of equipment operation.
    • Proven ability to operate and maintain relevant vehicles and solid waste management equipment.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of equipment operations, load transportation, and applicable safety regulations.
    • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
    • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
    • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Prior experience operating equipment for solid waste management or related waste handling operations.
    • Knowledge of waste handling and related safety management protocols in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
    • Valid country driver’s license and passport.
    • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

    Synchrolift Support Hand

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    The Synchrolift Support Hand is responsible for assisting in dry docking and undocking evolutions using the Synchrolift system. This role requires skilled handling of lines, operating equipment, and supporting various tasks, including diving as required. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Handling lines, operating the capstan, and driving the transfer tractor or other devices required during docking and undocking operations.
    • Preparing and participating in all aspects of dry docking/undocking evolutions to ensure efficiency and safety.
    • Serving as a qualified diver/swimmer and assisting with underwater tasks as required during docking operations.
    • Drafting and submitting a detailed Dive Plan and Safety Brief to the Government anytime dive work is part of the docking or undocking process.
    • Performing inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs on docking equipment and tools to ensure operational readiness.
    • Assisting the Synchrolift team in ensuring all tasks align with safety standards and operational protocols.
    • Supporting alignment and securing of vessels during docking and undocking procedures.
    • Coordinating with team members and supervisors to ensure successful execution of tasks.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Skilled in handling lines, operating the capstan, and driving transfer tractors or other devices used in docking operations.
    • Certified as a qualified diver/swimmer capable of performing underwater tasks in support of docking operations.
    • Understanding of dive work protocols and safety procedures, including the ability to prepare detailed Dive Plans and Safety Briefs.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
    • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
    • Must successfully pass contract medical requirements, including diving-related physicals and certifications, and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Prior experience in Synchrolift operations, line handling, or docking/undocking activities.
    • Formal diving certification, such as PADI, NAUI, or military/commercial diving qualifications.
    • Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
    • Knowledge of safety standards and protocols related to docking, undocking, and underwater operations.
    • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
