Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Conduct psychosocial assessments, formulate client cases, maintain accurate records, and ensure strict confidentiality.
- Provide professional individual and group counselling to women from the streets, addressing trauma, grief, violence, substance use, and emotional distress.
- Gather relevant psychosocial information on project participants and share appropriately with the multidisciplinary team to support holistic interventions.
- Use collected data to develop effective psychosocial interventions and promote best practices.
- Strengthen and implement the psychosocial support program to address participant and staff needs.
- Prepare and submit counselling and psychosocial reports to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
- Ensure timely implementation of psychosocial activities in line with project work plans.
- Prepare and facilitate psychosocial topics and sessions for staff capacity building and participant life-skills development.
- Provide technical guidance on psychosocial interventions to staff and partners in line with Kenya Government standards.
- Support protection interventions, including gender-based violence (GBV) response, safeguarding, and referral mechanisms.
- Conduct home visits, shelter visits, and field follow-ups to assess participant situations and develop appropriate responses.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with government departments, NGOs, health facilities, and referral partners.
- Identify and facilitate referrals to appropriate institutions for cases beyond the scope of Koinonia Community.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Counselling Psychology or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Diploma or professional certification in Counselling or Psychosocial Support is required.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with a recognized professional body (e.g. KCPA) is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience working with women from street situations, survivors of violence, or other vulnerable populations.
- Strong knowledge of psychosocial support, trauma-informed care, GBV response, and referral systems in Kenya.
- Computer literacy is a must, including working knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Experience in capacity building and facilitation of community-based trainings.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience in a similar role.

The Intervention Team Leader is responsible for the operational coordination of the team tasked with supporting extremely vulnerable women in identifying and pursuing sustainable pathways to economic and social autonomy. The position ensures the quality of interventions, harmonizes the contribution of the different team roles, and develops an effective network of companies, training institutions and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate job placements, vocational training and socio-economic support.
Main Responsibilities
Team Coordination
- Supervise and coordinate the work of the Economic Empowerment Officers, Job Officer, Education Officer and Project Admin.
- Define operational plans, weekly/monthly objectives, and shared intervention strategies.
- Facilitate team meetings, case reviews and integrated planning sessions.
- Ensure a holistic and consistent approach in the assessment and development of individual plans for project participants.
Management of Participants’ Pathways
- Ensure the team identifies and develops personalized pathways for economic empowerment, job placement or vocational training.
- Oversee initial socio-economic assessments and follow-up processes.
External Networking and Referral Pathways
- Map and strengthen relationships with vocational training institutions (TVETs, vocational centers, universities, short courses).
- Identify companies and enterprises as potential partners for internships, apprenticeships or employment opportunities.
- Monitor the quality of training and employment pathways implemented with external partners.
Administrative Management and Reporting
- Collaborate with the Project Accountant to monitor team-related expenditures and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
- Ensure accurate collection and updating of quantitative and qualitative data related to team activities.
- Prepare periodic reports (monthly, quarterly) and contribute to overall project reporting.
- Performs any other duties assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Development Studies, Project Management, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Professional Training & Certification
Demonstrated training or certification in Economic Empowerment, Livelihoods Programming, Project Management.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience in economic empowerment, livelihoods, employment facilitation, social protection, or community development programs, preferably within an NGO or faith-based organization.
- At least 3 years’ proven experience in a supervisory or team leadership role, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated experience working with extremely vulnerable populations, particularly women, youth, or marginalized communities.
