    Green Hydrogen Technical Specialist

    Basic Job Summary:

    • To provide the Green Hydrogen and renewable-energy technical substance of the project and to co-deliver Training of Trainers program. Defining the technical learning content for each priority discipline, ensuring technical accuracy and safety, specifying the laboratory and equipment package and delivering the hands-on technical sessions for the selected TVET curricula.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    Technical Content and Training-of-Trainers delivery
    The key tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Define the Green Hydrogen value-chain technical learning content and map it to each priority discipline.
    • Supply technical content, worked examples and reference standards to infuse GH2 into the curricula and build ToT and short-course materials.
    • Develop practical/laboratory guides, demonstration exercises and safety protocols
    • Co-develop the ToT schedule and deliver the technical and hands-on sessions to TVET trainers.
    • Support the assessment of trainers on the technical learning outcomes

    Laboratory Specification and Technical Advisory
    The key tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Develop equipment-package specifications and technical requirements for the GH2 training labs
    • Ensure the technical accuracy of all materials and alignment with current GH2 technology and HSE/quality standards.
    • Provide technical input to the e-learning platform content.
    • Coordinate closely with other consortium members on project delivery. 
    • Report on progress and deliverables to the SERC Project Manager.

    Minimum Academic Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Chemical, Energy, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 
    • Renewable Energy, Energy Technology or a closely related field.
    • A Bachelor’s degree with substantial additional relevant experience may be considered.
    • Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies/ Publication:
    • Membership of a relevant engineering or energy professional body is an asset.
    • Health, safety and environment (HSE) certification relevant to hydrogen systems is an asset.
    • Evidence of technical training delivered.

    Work Experience:

    • At least seven (7) years in renewable energy or hydrogen technologies, with practical exposure to electrolysis, fuel cells, gas handling, compression or storage.
    • Experience delivering technical training or training-of-trainers in an energy/engineering field.
    • Experience specifying laboratory or pilot equipment and supporting technical procurement.
    • Sound knowledge of HSE standards; knowledge of Kenya’s energy sector and the GH2 Strategy is an asse

    Competency Level:

    • Ability to translate complex technical content into accessible, hands-on training.
    • Excellent facilitation and practical-demonstration skills.
    • Excellent technical report-writing in English

    Curriculum Development and Training Specialist

    Basic Job Summary:

    • To lead the pedagogical design and development of all project training curricula: reviewing and infusing Green Hydrogen competencies into selected TVET curricula, designing the Training-of-Trainers and short upskilling/reskilling courses, and preparing the curricula for accreditation by relevant bodies – ensuring all content is competence based, aligned to KNQF, gender-responsive and ready for national roll-out.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    Curriculum development and Green Hydrogen infusion

    The key tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Translate the project’s skills-gap analysis into a structured GH2 competency framework (technical and soft skills) for the priority disciplines.
    • Lead the review and GH2-infusion of the seven selected curricula and develop course schedules and learning materials.
    • Design the Training-of-Trainer’s curriculum and the short upskilling / reskilling courses for workers, including e-learning content.
    • Support the assessment of ToT trainers on the technical learning outcomes.
    • Draft the autonomous full Green Hydrogen syllabus consolidating project lessons and best practice.

    Coordination, Facilitation and Quality Assurance

    The key tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Embed gender-responsive and inclusive approaches throughout all curricula and materials.
    • Coordinate closely with other consortium members on project delivery 
    • Report on progress and deliverables to the SERC Project Manager.

    Minimum Academic Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Engineering Education or a related technical/pedagogical field.
    • A Bachelor’s degree with substantial additional relevant experience may be considered.
    • Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies/ Publication:
    • Demonstrated record of developing TVET CDACC-accredited occupational standards, curricula and assessment tools.
    • Familiarity with the CBET approach and the Kenya National Qualifications Framework
    • Publications or examples of accredited curricula are an asset.

    Work Experience:

    • At least seven (7) years in TVET curriculum design and development within Kenya’s CBET framework.
    • Proven experience designing Training-of-Trainers programmes and short professional courses.
    • Demonstrated application of gender-responsive and inclusive curriculum approaches.
    • Familiarity with renewable energy or green hydrogen is a strong asset.

    Competency Level:

    • Strong instructional-design and learning-outcome formulation skills.
    • Excellent facilitation, stakeholder-engagement and workshop-management skills.
    • Excellent written and spoken English and report-writing ability

    Industry Partnerships and Business Development Specialist

    Basic Job Summary:

    • To lead engagement with industry and the entrepreneurial ecosystem across the project: brokering partnerships between training institutions and the private sector, developing business-development and entrepreneurship linkages along the GH2 value chain (with attention to SMEs, women and youth), leading policy-brief drafting and sector recommendations, and delivering the knowledge-sharing and awareness-raising work packages.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    Industry Partnerships, Knowledge Sharing and Awareness

    The key tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Build and maintain a database of GH2 private-sector stakeholders; engage industry in skills mapping and skills-gap validation.
    • Establish private-sector partnerships and MoUs for training and Centre-of-Excellence involvement
    • Support job placement, internships and company onboarding and entrepreneur selection for the Exchange Programme.
    • Lead inter-project liaison with other TEI OP-VET project partners and compile the 
    • GH2 VET Best Practice Guide / knowledge products documenting learnings.
    • Set up and implement the GH2 awareness campaign, including stakeholder mapping, materials, and dissemination activities.

    Project Coordination and Reporting 
    The key tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Lead the drafting of policy briefs with recommendations for the VET sector and its 
    • Green Hydrogen linkage and further sector/advocacy inputs
    • Identify and promote business-development and entrepreneurship opportunities for 
    • SMEs and women- and youth-led enterprises.
    • Foster inclusive public–private partnerships and identify opportunities for publicprivate collaboration.
    • Coordinate closely with other consortium members on project delivery
    • Report on progress and deliverables to the SERC Project Manager

    Minimum Academic Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Public Policy or a related field.
    • A Bachelor’s degree with substantial additional relevant experience may be considered.
    • Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies/ Publication:
    • Experience drafting policy briefs and best-practice guides.
    • Membership of a relevant professional body is an asset

    Work Experience:

    • At least seven (7) years in private-sector development, business development, partnership brokering or public–private partnerships, ideally in energy, industrial or skills sectors.
    • Demonstrated experience drafting policy briefs and engaging with policy-making and regulatory bodies.
    • Proven experience designing and delivering awareness campaigns, workshops and conferences.
    • Experience facilitating regional or inter-project knowledge sharing is a strong asset.
    • Sound knowledge of Kenya’s private-sector and SME ecosystem; commitment to gender- and youth-inclusive approaches.

    Competency Level:

    • Excellent stakeholder-engagement, networking and partnership-brokering skills.
    • Strong analytical and policy-writing ability; clear, persuasive communication.
    • Strong event and campaign management and coordination skills.
    • Excellent written and spoken English
