    Clinical Officer Anaesthetist

    Job Description

    The Clinical Officer Anaesthetist is overall responsible for providing anaesthetic management to all patients undergoing surgical procedures, both emergency and elective, at the IRC Hagadera Hospital.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Management:

    • Formulate department objectives with the help of medical officer in charge of hospital.
    • Ensure use of standard operating procedures, protocols and guidelines in management of patients is followed.

    Program Activities

    • Responsible for giving anaesthesia to all emergency and elective cases conducted in theatre, both minor and major surgeries
    • Conduct peri-operative (pre and post) review of all patients within 24 hours
    • Supervise theatre staffs and ensure smooth running of theatre activities and procedures in addition to allocating the support staffs duties
    • Assist in management of very sick patients in the ward when called upon e.g. patients who need urgent resuscitation and intubation
    • Be part of the emergency trauma team and called upon in case of an accident with mass causalities
    • Attend and participate in the daily morning hospital hand over meetings
    • Participate in weekly continuous medical education (CME) at the hospital
    • Conduct on-job training of staff through both practical and theory sessions
    • Do theatre coverage and on-call, ensuring 24 hour coverage
    • Properly cover nights and weekends, arrange a rotation schedule with fellow clinical officer anaesthetist
    • Perform routine clinical work as required by your supervisor
    • Participate in camp health surveys/campaigns/surgical camps as required
    • Keep complete and accurate inventory of medicines and supplies located at the theatre and monitor and supervise their usage
    • Ensure all medication equipment ,  supplies required for anaesthesia are ordered in good time
    • Ensure the anaesthetic machine and operating table are well maintained and report any fault, need for repair or maintenance in good time
    • Provide health talks to patients/clients on day to day basis

    Reporting and Coordination:

    • Ensure proper documentation of all anaesthetic procedures, and condition of the patient including vital signs and medication given
    • Submit weekly theatre reports to the HIS officer
    • Compile and submit monthly theatre reports to the MO in charge of hospital  on a timely basis

    Other Special Duties other than provision of Anaesthesia:

    • Attend to minor Surgical cases and procedures referred to theatre not attended to by the MO (Esophageal foreign body removal, Ear and nose foreign body removal, Circumcisions, Ganglions and Lipomas excisions)

    Key result areas

    • Ensure quality anaesthetic management for all patients undergoing surgical interventions
    • Ensure that universal precautions and infection prevention guidelines are adhered to

    Qualifications

    • Registered Clinical Officer Anaesthetist with a Higher National Diploma(HND) in Anaesthesia and Surgery from KMTC or recognized Medical training institution
    • Registered with the Clinical officers Council of Kenya
    • At least 2 years experience as an Anaesthetists in a busy hospital setup

    Required Experience & Competencies:

    • Good clinical and anaesthetic skills
    • Proven leadership, communication, interpersonal, decision making skills
    • Good team player
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and Swahili)
    • Computer literacy in the use of MS Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required
    • Ability to work and deliver results with minimum supervision
    • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player
    • Experience of working in hardship area is an added advantage

    Global Proposal Recruiter

    Job Description

    The IRC is seeking an energetic individual with outstanding relationship building skills and creative approaches to sourcing talent. This individual will work to ensure timely and quality recruitment for US based and international positions and handling proposal recruitment efforts. This will include a range of positions across a wide range of geographical and technical lines. The Global Proposal Recruiter will pro-actively source, advertise, screen, interview, and handle final negotiations for open positions in the portfolio. The Recruiter will initiate and implement recruitment strategies to increase the IRC’s talent pool and pipelines. The right candidate will have demonstrated success in previously securing internationally hired personnel on over $10 US million bids.

    The position can be fully remote or hybrid in an office. People residing in a location where the IRC operates are encouraged to apply.

    Major Responsibilities

    • Provide an efficient and high-quality experience for every candidate from application stage to offer, evaluating skill level, driving the interview process and offer process, including robust reference checks, salary recommendations and closing of candidates.
    • Gain a deep understanding of IRC’s recruitments settings, in order to provide outstanding talent sourcing, recruiting, and hiring in support of, and partnership with, the Awards Management Unit (AMU)
    • Work closely with country program and business development staff (remotely or in-country) to recruit international and national staff for senior-level positions on specific proposals
    • Provide support to the Awards Management Unit (AMU) team on HR related issues such as settling salary ranges, salary banding, and guide the team through the recruitment approval process
    • Create and maintain an understanding of relevant USAID/FCDO personnel policies and procedures through professional contacts, conferences and review of donor policies
    • Develop relationships with regional/in-country recruiters and AMU staff and collaborate the Global Compensation Team, Regional HR Partners, Regional Vice Presidents and Technical Unit Leaders
    • Expand the capacity of hiring teams to identify talent via improved interview skills & ability to specify critical needs
    • Run sophisticated recruitment assignments that require creative application of social media, networking and referrals to address specific recruitment challenges
    • Create and maintain a key personnel pipeline for frequently required positions in IRC sectors

    Qualifications:

    • 4+ years of recruitment experience on competitive, donor-funded, international development proposals/projects with experience with USG (preferably USAID). FCDO experience a plus.
    • Broad knowledge of employee relations, compensation & benefits, staffing, training and development, and basic US labor laws
    • A person who thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
    • Experience organizing and conducting overseas proposal recruiting trips.
    • Experience sourcing and headhunting candidates. Strong Boolean search expertise required.
    • Ability to create, implement, maintain and improve recruitment strategies and systems in a high-volume context.
    • Experience and ability to work closely, guide and influence senior leaders
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
    • Effective communicator across diverse cultures and geographic distances with sensitivity.
    • Fluency in English required; proficiency in French, Spanish or Arabic a plus.

    Finance Volunteer

    Job Description

    IRC Kenya is working to achieve optimal performance in terms of program quality strengthening operations and finance department by emerging tools, systems and staff capacity to adhere to IRC policies and procedures and donor compliance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Cash & Bank payments processing

    • Maintaining Petty cash at the set limits and take responsibility of any cash differences arising.
    • Ensure that there is sufficient petty cash at all time for smooth operation
    • Ensure all Petty cash payments are properly supported and duly authorized per IRC delineation schedule before disbursement.
    • Ensuring that authorizations on the payments requests are in line with the approved limits per the delineation chart
    • Preparation of petty cash spreadsheets to upload stage ready for review by FO at the end of the month.
    • Devise a cash replenishment schedule to minimize weekly bank visits
    • Ensure authorized receipts are correctly coded and issued upon receipt of monies.
    • Maintaining the receipt book and ensuring that authorized receipts are issued upon receipt of monies.
    • Bank Reconciliation and preparation of spreadsheets to upload stage ready for review monthly

    Filing

    • Maintain an organized and well-documented (all files must be labeled properly and visibly) and sequential filing system for all cash disbursement vouchers
    • Before filing, ensure that all documents have been stamped ‘PAID’ including cash payment reference details.
    • Preparation of journals, ensuring these are fully supported and ready for review before upload

    Other

    • To act as a bank agent.
    • Maintain an organized and well-documented bank correspondences file ensuring it’s continuously updated.
    • Assist in preparation of spreads sheets.
    • Preparation of corrective journals and assisting in posting of journals as and when required
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree in Finance/Business Administration with minimum CPA I qualification
    • Work experience in a similar position.
    • Knowledge in Excel
