    Facilities Management Officer

    Responsibilities

    • Inputs into section multi-year plans and budgeting activities, for amongst others, environmental upgrades, and improvement projects, with a specific focus on utilities such as power, water, wastewater, and waste services, including increased implementation of renewable technologies and energy production capacities.
    • Actively collaborates and provides specialist technical expertise to multi-disciplinary teams across the section/ service to implement environmental sustainability and best practice throughout UNON’s facilities and operations, including research to support development of new innovative technical and environmental solutions, preparing feasibility studies, design proposals including energy modeling, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for construction projects, which support continual environmental improvements with a specific focus on the built environment, energy, water, wastewater and waste services, and transport sector.  
    • Applies commonly used engineering calculations, practices and precedents in completing portions of larger projects related to the design, construction, or repair of buildings, waste disposal systems, water treatment facilities, electrical power generation and distribution systems, environmental control systems, and other related structures and activities.
    • Develops, and or oversees section/ service technical staff, to develop technical data including plans, designs and specifications for projects, construction and related documents, such as bills of quantities and drawings sufficient for tender out of construction works.
    • Conducts preliminary site investigations to obtain field data such as soil characteristics, drainage and other data required for building site selection.
    • Develops technical data regarding materials, sizes, dimensions, and quantities and costs to be incorporated in formal specifications.
    • Estimates costs of resource efficient retrofits of existing buildings, facilities, and systems to determine feasibility of new infrastructure and construction works, retrofits and or replacement projects.  Performs other related tasks as assigned.

    Education

    • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in environmental engineering, environmental management, environmental sustainability, electrical and mechanical engineering, or another similar field, is required.
    • A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Additional certification in sustainable energy engineering and or a renewable energy related field is desirable.
    • Formal training in EMS and or ISO 14001:2015 is desirable. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in either environmental engineering, environmental management, environmental sustainability, electrical and mechanical engineering (energy, water and wastewater management), or related field, is required.
    • Practical experience working as the principal responsible for planning, implementation, and delivery of environmental sustainability, infrastructure or engineering projects with a specific focus on the built environment, energy, water, wastewater and waste services, and transport sector is required.
    • Practical experience working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to provide technical expertise, best practice and deliver on environmental building or engineering solutions, is required. Proficiency in use of REVIT, AutoCAD, or similar software is required.
    • Experience with planning, coordination, and implementation of an EMS and certification requirements for the same according to international standards such as ISO 14001:2015 is required. Practical experience with an environmentally certified building, or environmental performance assessment and rating tools, is desirable.
    • Experience in an international environment working on environmental outreach, is desirable.
    • Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

    Chief of Section, Information Systems and Telecommunications (Temporary Position)

    Responsibilities

    • Within delegated authority and under the Direct Supervision of Chief UNON, ICTS/Chief Regional Technology Centre, the incumbent serves as Deputy Chief of ICTS and Chief, Infrastructure and Conference Technology Support and performs the following functions:
    • Conceptualizes, develops strategy for and oversees the design and implementation of secure major infrastructure and conference technology initiatives; manages/oversees multiple and concurrent tasks for on-going capital projects that often involve innovative technical architecture, enhance ICT service operations, business continuity planning aligned with Global Information Communications and Technology (ICT) strategy implementation roadmap.
    • Ensures the development of standards, procedures and practices to ensure all ICT requirements for United Nations conferences held at UNON are fulfilled, from congress system, audio-visual system to web content distribution systems. Leads and directs ICT conference area team to provide ICT services for UNON conferences. Coordinates directly with all other sections at ICTS to ensure services delivery is provided as per conference requirements.
    • Provides innovative technology thought leadership for the critical capital project of new large conference facilities aligned with emerging technologies, industry best practices and evolving conferencing business needs.
    • Provides authoritative technical and policy advice on ICT infrastructure on evolving business environment and the implications of various alternatives to Common Back Office clients, on-going capital projects and other related issues; identifies and plans for future needs; develops and disseminates best practices.

    Education

    • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field is required.
    • A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of ten (10) years international experience within the ICT Sector with managerial and contract management skills is required. Experience with handling ICT requirements for large international conferences for a minimum of ten (10) years is required.
    • Experience in leading large scale change management projects related to ICT and/or conference technology upgrades and resources realignment projects, including briefings or presentations to senior management and external stakeholders on key initiatives and projects for a minimum of ten (10) years is required.
    • Proven experience in leading cloud-based endpoint management, smart cloud hosting (cloud & on-prem) and business process automation projects using AI, robotics powered automation platforms for a minimum of four (4) years is desirable. Broad experience with congress systems, A/V equipment and experience with their integration for a minimum of two (2) years is desirable.
    • Experience in data strategy development/implementation, data-driven change or digital transformation efforts for a minimum of four (4) years is desirable.
