    Terms of Reference: Facilitator for Journalism Workshop

    You are suitable for this role if you have:

    • A minimum 5-year journalism qualification 
    • 3-5 years of proven experience in the media industry 
    • Extensive understanding of the Kenyan and Rwandan media landscape 
    • Comprehensive knowledge of social media practices 
    • Minimum 3 years of proven training and facilitation experience Fluent in English and Kiswahili 
    • Interested in or knowledgeable in storytelling for African girls and young women 
    • Passionate about girls and women's rights 

    Personal skills: 

    • Interpersonal skills 
    • Excellent communication skills 
    • Good report writing skills 
    • Presentation skills 
    • Time management skills 

    The facilitator will be required to:  

    • In consultation with the project team, create a manual for the training  
    • Create an interactive presentation according to the modules of the training manual, incorporating your examples, group, and individual activities 
    • Liaise with the project team regarding the intended structure and content of the presentation 
    • Share their presentation with the project team a week before the training workshop. 
    • Deliver the presentation and facilitate training sessions, covering all modules of the training manual 
    • Write and submit a report evaluating the training workshop no later than a week after the training workshop.

    Terms of Reference: Photography Assignment to Obtain Field-Based Stories

    Background of photography assignment 

    • To commemorate this year’s 16 Days of Activism, under the Women Gaining Ground consortium, Akili Dada is keen on celebrating young African women leaders who have been actively engaged in championing the elimination of GBV within their communities across East Africa. The project aims to tell stories through photographs and short anecdotes of young women. The photographer will work with the Washa program Lead and the Communications Associate - Digital and oversight from the Interim Executive Director to produce strong materials to develop a photo album, digital features, and website feature stories. 
    • Additionally, the photographer is encouraged to capture compelling and unique images that can feed into the album, speaking to the work of the young women. 
    • Given that our primary focus is visual storytelling and documentary photography, Akili Dada is seeking an individual with the following qualities:
    • Creativity and imagination 
    • Astute photographer 
    • Passionate about storytelling for girls and young women Great people skills 
    • Eye for detail 
    • Patience and Flexibility 
    • Have a minimum of 2 years of previous experience working in a similar role 
    • Have solid communication skills, both written & verbal Own a portfolio demonstrating your outstanding photography and visual storytelling skills
