    Associate Finance and Budget Officer, NOB

    General:

    • Keeps up-to-date on documents/reports/guidelines that have a bearing on matters related to programme and/or peacekeeping budgets, ensuring compliance with intergovernmental recommendations and decisions as well as with United Nations policies and procedures.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Education

    • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field is required.
    • A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, administration, budget, business administration or related area is required. Working experience with an accounting module like Enterprise Resource Platform (ERP) system e.g. Systems Applications & Products (SAP) is required.
    • Experience in implementation of Accounting Standards, including International Public Sector Accounting Standards, (IPSAS), is required.
    • One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

    Children and Youth Development Intern

    Responsibilities

    • Under the direct supervision of the UN-Habitat Focal Point for Children and Youth, the intern will:
    • Assist in conducting desk reviews and facilitate stakeholder mapping related to youth and children in urban settings, and contribute to the preparation of knowledge products, background papers, briefing notes, and reports.
    • Support the design, planning, implementation, and documentation of child- and youth-focused projects or initiatives and contribute to logistical and administrative preparations for meetings, workshops, and events.
    • Support outreach activities to promote youth participation in urban policy dialogues and community-led planning processes and assist in engagement and liaison with youth-led organizations, child rights networks, and urban governance institutions.
    • Assist in drafting communications materials, including social media posts, blogs, and newsletters that amplify children and youth voices in urban development.
    • Support in tracking progress on youth- and child-specific components of HRSIU’s projects and initiatives and contribute to the preparation of periodic internal and donor reports.
    • Perform other related duties as required.

    Qualifications/special skills

    Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher),

    • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent),
    • Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
    • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

    Preferred areas of study:

    •  Undergraduate degree in human rights, gender, urban planning, sustainable development or equivalent
    • A postgraduate degree would also be acceptable
    • A graduate-level intern would be preferred

    Urban Finance & Economy Consultant

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under the overall supervision of the Programme Lead on Finance and Economy, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties:

    • Course Planning and Structure Development
    • Design the overall framework and learning objectives of the Finance Strategy Course in alignment with organizational or academic goals.
    • Conduct research on current trends in corporate finance, strategic financial management, and financial decision-making to ensure course relevance and rigor.
    • Define course outcomes, target audience, key competencies, and assessment criteria.
    • Develop a logical structure that integrates theoretical foundations with practical applications.
    • Content Creation (6 Chapters) Draft Chapters 1–3:
    • Develop foundational concepts such as corporate finance principles, capital structure strategy, and value creation models. • Write detailed chapter content including key theories, case examples, and real-world applications.
    • Ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency with academic and professional standards. Draft Chapters 4–6: • Create advanced-level content on topics like risk management, financial forecasting, investment strategy, and strategic budgeting.
    • Incorporate analytical tools, decision frameworks, and strategic planning models used in finance leadership.
    • Integrate data-driven insights and industry examples to enhance practical relevance.
    • Development of Interactive Learning Activities
    • Design engaging and interactive exercises to enhance learner participation and understanding.
    • Develop simulations, case analyses and financial modeling assignments aligned with each chapter.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Academic Qualifications;
    • A bachelor's degree in development studies, Urban Planning, Economics, Public Policy, Public Finance, Political Science, or a related field is required.
    • Working Experience;
    • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the field of local economic development, urban planning, public finance, and or public policy is required.
