    Urban Finance & Economy Consultant

    • The Planning, Finance & Economy Section (PFES) is responsible to support urban and territorial planning at all scales including through the development of planning policy, norms and guidelines, urban design and public space design, urban finance (municipal finance and urban development/projects finance), and local economic development.

    REPORTING AND COMMUNICATION

    • The Urban Finance Consultant will be hired to collaborate closely with the Finance and Economy team of PFES. He/she will be reporting to the team lead on Finance and Economy, Mr. Lennart Fleck

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Under the overall supervision of the Programme Lead on Finance and Economy, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties:

    • Conducting research on the finance and economy needs of other PFES teams and identifying possible entry points.
    • Development of concept notes on potential collaborative projects between Finance and Economy and other teams in the section.
    • Providing technical input on finance and economy issues to other ongoing projects within the section and UN-Habitat as a whole.
    • Representing Finance and Economy team in UN-Habitat meetings and with external partners.
    • Preparing and delivering presentations about the work of UN-Habitat on Finance and Economy

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Academic qualification: First Level university degree in Economics, Public Policy, Public Finance, Political Science, Development Studies or a related field is required. An advanced degree with (2) two years qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the first level degree.
    • Work Experience: At least 4 years of relevant work experience in the field of public finance, public policy, and/or local economic development is required
    • Experience working on Own Source Revenue and/or municipal finance is desirable

    Languages

    • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this advertised position fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.

    Urban Planner-Urban Lab Mexico

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Under the overall supervision of the PFES, Programme Management Officer and Coordinator of the Urban Lab Mexico in coordination with the Hub of Mesoamerica office, the Latin America and the Caribbean Region and PFES, the incumbent of the post will have to fulfill the following duties and responsibilities:
    • Provide technical expertise and input in urban design proposals and urban planning projects;
    • Develop analysis, collection, interpretation and representation of data and spatial analysis;
    • Produce desk and field research on topics related to urban planning projects;
    • Advice and implement participatory processes in the scope of urban planning projects;
    • Advise and develop materials for events, outreach, communications, capacity building sessions and workshops;
    • Develop graphic materials and publications;
    • Draft progress reports regarding the implementation of projects, including documentation, knowledge management, advocacy and outreach.

    Qualifications/special skills
    Education:

    • First level university degree in fields related to architecture, urban planning, or similar is required.

    Work Experience:

    • At least 2 years of professional experience in the development and implementation of urban planning projects, in collaboration with multidisciplinary work teams is required.
    • Knowledge of the 2030 Agenda, the New Urban Agenda, Global Public Space Agenda and/or UN-Habitat language is an asset

    Languages

    • Fluency in oral and written skills in Spanish and English and have the technical capacity to draft and review specialized reports and documents on climate change and urban resilience is required.

    Climate Change and Environment Consultancy

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide input and adapt urban planning methodologies and approaches to include climate change and urban resilience focus;
    • Develop project proposals and research potential funding for climate change and urban resilience projects;
    • Advice and implement participatory processes in the scope of climate change projects;
    • Develop analysis, collection, interpretation and representation of data and spatial analysis;
    • Produce desk and field research on topics related to climate change and urban resilience;
    • Advise and develop materials for presentations, events, outreach, communications, capacity building sessions and workshops;
    • Draft reports regarding the implementation of projects, including documentation, knowledge management, coordination, advocacy and outreach.

    Qualifications/special skills
    Education:
