    Monitoring and Evaluation Expert

    Under the overall supervision of the Officer in Charge and the direct supervision of the Programme Officer and in close cooperation with the programme managers the incumbent will work across the UN-Habitat Somalia programme to deliver on the following:

    • Designing monitoring and evaluation frameworks aligned with project goals and objectives, including defining indicators, data collection methods, and evaluation methodologies.
    • Develop monitoring templates and recording system/ data base to ensure collection of sex and age disaggregated data and other vulnerability criteria/ data, with a particular focus on training data.
    • Develop a system to monitor risks for programme implementation across all programmes as well as supporting Project Managers in the mitigation of those risks.
    • Lead data collection efforts, which may involve designing surveys, conducting interviews, and collecting both quantitative and qualitative data. Analyzing collected data to assess progress and performance against targets and benchmarks.
    • Generating regular monitoring reports detailing progress, achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
    • Providing training and technical assistance to project staff and partners on M&E concepts, tools, and techniques.
    • Ensuring the quality and reliability of data collected through rigorous validation and verification processes.
    • Documenting lessons learned, best practices, and success stories from M&E activities to contribute to organizational learning and knowledge sharing.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • A first level university degree in statistics, economics, public/business administration, development studies, youth studies or related field is required. A minimum of two years of experience in M&E is required. Experience to work with quantitative and qualitative data, and appropriately use qualitative data /information collection tools in innovative ways is required. Experience in development of survey tools, data analysis, results – Based management and report and proposal writing is an advantage. Experience in working in post-conflict / disaster environments is desirable.

    Landscape Architect/Designer

    Under the administrative and programmatic guidance of the Programme Manager, the Landscape Architect/Designer will play a pivotal role in achieving the following objectives:

    • Engage in public consultations, conducting individual meetings and community sessions to identify and prioritize project interventions based on community needs, available resources, and the potential impacts of proposed interventions. 
    • Design the public space with a focus on community needs aiming for an inclusive, safe and accessible public space.
    • Develop sketches, sections and plans using computer-aided design programs.
    • Prepare specifications, project costing, review shop drawings, and provide construction administration support.
    • Analyze environmental reports, incorporating acquired knowledge into designs and plans.
    • Understand the implications of proposed designs in for social, economic and environmental impacts at the project level,
    • Ensuring compliance through formal processes and approvals from relevant authorities.
    • Coordinate role players, meetings, and procedures, facilitating the integration and dissemination of project information.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering or related field is required.
    • A first-level university degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering or related field in combination with two [2] additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in architecture, construction, public space, and landscape design in the context of human settlement/ urban development sectors is required.
    • Experience working in an international organization/ non-governmental organization is highly desirable. Proficiency in CAD, Photoshop, Sketchup and rendering software experience is desirable.
    • Knowledge of landscape architecture disciplines or practices including the ability to apply appropriate methods, procedures and techniques within a defined context is desirable.

    Data Analyst

    She/he will be responsible for the following tasks:

    • Provide technical contributions in the development of methodology for the Shanghai Adapted Index (SAI)
    • Contribute to the generation of urban geospatial data for selected urban indicators.
    • Prepare city profiles based on UMF domains and other relevant data themes, supported with data narratives, insights, and key messaging for informing policy.
    • Provide capacity building to countries on SDG indicators’ computation based on the harmonized city definition approach (DEGURBA).

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in urban planning, statistics, demography, economics, urban studies, or any other closely related field is required. At least five years of experience is required as researcher/analyst working on urban and human settlements issues at the local, national, and international levels is required. Good knowledge of and experience working with indicator frameworks is highly desirable.
