    Community Volunteer (Active Project) - Education - Kakuma

    Role Overview Summary
    In this role, you will provide on-site support in the project location and/or VSO office, (full-time unless otherwise specified) for a set period of time.

    Ideal Applicant Summary

    • Good understanding of the community, education needs and context of the project location
    • Proven use of different learning and development approaches for young learners/children
    • Knowledge and awareness on child protection practices and mechanisms
    • High integrity and a good rapport in the community
    • A commitment to community-led processes of social change.
    • Understanding of participatory approaches to working with communities
    • Understanding of or experience in community development
    • Recognition of the role of power and politics (vested interests) in constraining locally led change.
    • Able to develop clear and realistic plans to deliver agreed objectives within deadlines, involving key individuals in the process.
    • Strong listening and observation skills
    • Good facilitation skills using participatory processes and techniques.
    • Experience of preparing good quality reports,
    • Willingness to learn and unlearn.
    • Self-aware and reflective

    Inclusive Education Advisor - Kilifi -Active Project

    Ideal Applicant Summary
    Competence required. Knowledge, and qualification:

    • Degree/Diploma in Inclusive Education (IE) 
    • Applied knowledge of principles and practices in inclusion of learners with disabilities and special educational needs, early childhood care, education and development and child protection. Expertise in using a range of assessment and intervention strategies to enhance student academic skills. Knowledge and experience in curriculum adaptation and differentiation.
    • Experience training others in inclusive education.  Minimum of five years’ experience supporting the inclusion of learners with disabilities and special educational needs. Experience in training teachers in learner-centred pedagogies, ECDE, lesson planning and schemes of work, positive discipline, inclusive classroom management and curriculum strategies, and formative and summative assessment.
