    Head of Manufacturing Sector

    Job Purpose Statement

    • The role plays a pivotal role in driving the growth and profitability of Equity in line with the Strategic Plan – Africa Recovery and Resilience Plan (ARRP) and the chosen go-to-market approach within the Manufacturing Sector. This position exists to drive growth, manage relationships, recommend, design, and deliver financial solutions tailored to the unique needs of manufacturing sector clients. This delivery is made in close collaboration Segments, Product and Channel teams to achieve these objectives.

    Key Accountabilities

    Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the manufacturing sector that aligns with the bank's ARRP and go to market approach.
    • Collaborate with Segment heads and Relationship managers to achieve revenue and profitability targets while ensuring internal and external compliance.

    Client Relationship Management:

    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients in the manufacturing sector.
    • Understand clients' business needs, challenges, and goals to offer tailored financial solutions.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for major manufacturing sector clients, providing exceptional service and support.

    Business Development:

    • Analyze financial statements, market data, and industry trends to formulate financing and investment solutions.
    • Identify new business opportunities and market trends within the manufacturing sector.
    • Develop and implement strategies to expand the bank's footprint in the sector, including the acquisition of new clients and increased market share with the existing portfolio.
    • Structure and negotiate complex financial transactions, including loans, credit facilities, and investment opportunities.

    Compliance & Risk Management:

    • Assess and manage credit and operational risks associated with manufacturing sector clients.
    • Mitigate risks and proactively address compliance and operational issues
    • Collaborate with risk management teams to ensure prudent lending practices and adherence to regulatory requirements.

    Team Work:

    • Mentor Segment relationship managers to achieve high performance and deepen client relationships.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the teams supported.

    Market Research and Analysis and reporting:

    • Stay informed about trends and developments within the manufacturing sector to anticipate client needs.
    • Provide market insights and intelligence to the bank's leadership team.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on the performance of the manufacturing sector portfolio to senior management.
    • Highlight achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.

    Qualifications
    Education and experience required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) from a recognized University or College.
    • Professional Certifications in Banking, Marketing would be an added advantage.

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Proven track record in business development and strategic planning, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
    • In-depth knowledge of banking products and services.
    • Regulatory compliance knowledge within the banking sector.
    • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and emerging trends.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial banking or a related field, with a focus on the manufacturing sector.

    Legal Officer Commercial

    Position Overview

    • The Commercial Legal Officer, reporting to the General Manager Commercial Legal, serves as a vital member of the wider Group Legal Function. The role focuses on providing expert legal support to the Group Commercial Legal Department, managing intricate legal matters, facilitating contract negotiations, overseeing legal projects, and contributing significantly to Equity Group's overall legal risk management.

    Key Duties And Responsibilities

    • Act as the primary liaison for internal business teams and subsidiary legal units, addressing their legal queries and concerns promptly and efficiently.
    • Offer high-level legal assistance to the Commercial Legal department and various business units, ensuring legal compliance and strategic guidance.
    • Manage intricate legal affairs, including but not limited to contract negotiations and dispute resolution, employing sharp legal acumen and negotiation skills.
    • Spearhead legal projects, ensuring seamless execution, timely follow-ups, and transactional momentum, thereby contributing to the company’s strategic objectives.
    • Contribute significantly to the development and implementation of robust legal risk management strategies and processes, safeguarding the company's interests and compliance requirements.
    • Assist in creating and maintaining legal precedents, standard forms, and templates, ensuring consistency and accuracy in legal documentation.
    • Support legal due diligence activities related to counterparties and undertake in-depth research, preparing comprehensive legal opinions that aid informed decision-making.
    • Actively participate in knowledge management initiatives within the Group Legal Function, including organizing training sessions, creating legal precedents, researching, and implementing cutting-edge legal technology tools for enhanced operational efficiency.
    • Stay updated with the latest changes in laws and regulations, disseminating pertinent information to the Group Legal Commercial team, ensuring the company's ongoing compliance.
    • Manage relationships with external legal counsels and service providers, ensuring efficient collaboration and adherence to the company's standards.
    • Assist in preparing detailed reports and status updates on various legal matters, ensuring transparency and clarity in communication.
    • Administer the operational efficiency of the Group Legal team, streamlining processes, implementing best practices, and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
    • Undertake additional assignments as required by the General Manager Commercial Legal, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach to fulfilling the company's legal requirements.

    Qualifications
    Required Skills:

    Required Qualifications And Experience

    • Minimum Five (5) years’ experience in a busy Corporate Organization or Commercial Law Firm
    • Bachelor of Laws Degree from any recognized University
    • Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law
    • Must be admitted to the Bar in Kenya for minimum Five (5) years.
    • Master’s degree in Commercial or Corporate Law will be an added advantage.
    • Previous experience in a Group set up will be an added advantage.
