    Regional Carbon Credit Program Manager

    What is the opportunity?

    • Working under the direct supervision of the Senior Director, Program Design and Standards, the Carbon Regional Project Manager, East Africa, is responsible for coordinating key Carbon Credit Program Requirements in Water Mission’s East Africa program, using project and program management techniques and excellent written and verbal communications skills. This position will manage scopes of work, schedules, and budgets of a variety of initiatives related to the generation of carbon credits for safe water projects, including the roll-out of new program design elements (WASH Promotion, Stakeholder Inclusivity, Asset Management, etc.), oversee routine baseline and end line surveying, and coordinate and implement necessary staff and stakeholder trainings for program sensitization. The position is based in the CAT or EAT Time Zone and will require routine international travel to remote locations in developing countries. The duration of travel typically lasts 1-3 weeks and occurs 4-6 times per year.   

    A successful Regional Carbon Credit Program Manager will: 

    • Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public. 
    • Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings.  
    • Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions. 
    • Work closely with the Carbon Credit Program Manager to provide technical direction for country office staff for the successful implementation of Carbon Credit Program requirements. 
    • Prepare written proposals and cost estimates for assigned programs and projects. 
    • Manage multiple simultaneous projects.
    • Maintain good communications with the project stakeholders, i.e.  in-country staff and in-country partner organizations
    • Ensure that aspects of the project are executed according to an agreed-upon scope of work, design, schedule, and budget
    • Prepare and submit agreed-upon Project Status Reports
    • Coordinate with both Charleston and local Country Office staff on the integration of new program design elements into existing workflows
    • Support tight fiduciary oversight of all program and project related expenses.
    • Work with the Charleston Program Design and MEL teams to implement and develop new project standards, processes, surveys, and required program documentation.
    • Work with the Charleston Assetas and Serengeti Team to implement standards and processes related to asset management. 
    • Work with the Program Design and Standards Team to implement health & hygiene training, stakeholder inclusivity, stakeholder sensitization training, and community leadership training for surveying and auditing.
    • Work with the Program Design and Standards Team– MEL team to implement routine baseline and end line surveying for all new qualifying safe water projects in the region.
    • Work with the Engineering and Professional Services Team to implement robust asset management practices, new and improved household water quality testing procedures, and a robust O&M schedule.
    • Work with country technical leads, coordinators, and leadership, to support the their technical knowledge of the Carbon Program, oversee QAQC of program deliverables, and coordinate required staff trainings.
    • Support and be available for regional audits, including logistics support, support of technical leads for onsite visits, and translating Water Mission’s work in the WAS sector to visiting auditors. 
    • Support the development of a Carbon Credit Program component in refugee settings. 
    • Support partnership conversions for the purposes of buy-in, sensitization, and government compliance. 
    • Conduct field inspections and site assessments to ensure projects are in line with Carbon Credit Program requirements.
    • Work with the Carbon Credit Program Manager to develop and implement annual operating plans and budget. 

    What is required?

    • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills for training and sensitization

    • Excellent relationship and conflict resolution skills. 
    • P.E. license and/or project management certification preferred, or equivalent 5+ years experience in the WASH sector
    • Supervisory experience preferred.
    • Experience overseeing MEL teams and surveying and researching teams.
    • Ability to travel up to 4-6 times per year for 1-3 weeks at a time, mostly in developing countries. Most international trips require riding in long car rides on rough terrain, standing for extended periods of time in hot weather, and lifting moderately heavy things.

    • Working under the supervision of the Human Resource Manager, Kenya, The Human Resource Specialist will assist with benefits administration, recruiting, onboarding, off-boarding, record keeping, compliance, research, and day-to-day customer service support for our staff.     Senior Technician (Building & Civil Engineering), Turkana

    • Prompt and accurate providing of receipts and cash advance requests.
    • Prompt and accurate providing of time sheets.
    • Abide by the policies/requirements of the WM Code of Conduct and Staff Policy Manual.

    What is required?

    • Ensure quality output in the solar installations, wiring of solar panels, and installation of electrical equipment giving the contractors needed direction.
    • Develop maintenance schedules and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
    • Train system operators on the day-to-day running and operation of the systems, which includes daily monitoring of residual chlorine levels in treated water.
    • Monitor quality testing and assist with borehole/spring/well yield tests.
    • Read and understand engineering drawings.
    • Perform assessments in communities, including water quality and quantity testing, survey measurements, and other aspects as may be required.
    • Provide timely project reporting, including monthly reports, assessment reports, and follow-up reports with accompanying photographs as per specific assignment guidelines.
    • Timely support completed projects by attending to system operations and maintenance-related issues.
    • Comply with all the existing organizational policies and procedures.
    • Provide disaster response support and work in other countries as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    What is required?

    • Fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili is required.
    • Diploma/Higher Diploma in Engineering (Building and Civil Engineering).
    • A valid NCA Site Supervisor license is required.

    • Specialized technical skills (such as masonry, civil works, building).
    • Driver’s license required.

    Senior Technician (Electrician), Turkana

    What is the opportunity? 

    • Reporting to the Regional Manager Turkana with guidance from the Lead Engineer. The Senior technician is responsible for performing technical tasks within the Regional office following established standards and procedures. The person in this position must be self-driven, a devoted Christian with a clear calling from God and a heartfelt passion for our mission. This position requires that the person resides in Kakuma Turkana, Kenya, where the office is located. It also involves frequent traveling to remote locations within Kenya or surrounding countries.

    The Senior Technician (Electrician) will:

    General Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Carry out the installation of solar PV systems, including electrical wiring, mounting of inverters and panels, testing, installation of main switches, and other standard electrical work
