    Technical Machine Operator

    About the Role

    Our client, Sierra Premium Breweries Ltd, is seeking a Technical Machine Operator to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all electrical and mechanical systems across the plant.

    The role involves a blend of technical expertise, preventive maintenance, and operational support ensuring that packaging lines, utilities, and process equipment run smoothly and consistently. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and has a passion for engineering precision, food safety, and continuous improvement.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operate, monitor, and adjust machines and utilities according to SOPs and production schedules.
    • Implement and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize breakdowns and downtime.
    • Conduct inspections of production lines, structures, and utilities; identify wear, corrosion, or performance issues and recommend solutions.
    • Lead or support rapid-response maintenance efforts to resolve technical faults promptly.
    • Maintain detailed maintenance and repair records, ensuring full traceability of all interventions.
    • Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and operators to support plant projects and equipment upgrades.
    • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues efficiently and safely.
    • Maintain up-to-date asset and equipment lists for all plant systems and tools.
    • Ensure optimal machine productivity (target 90%) and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
    • Support the operation of area-specific systems, including:
    • Boiler, CIP Plant, Water Treatment Plant, Glycol System, Tunnel Pasteurizer, Packaging Lines, Filtration Systems, Brewhouse, Generators, and other utilities.
    • Ensure production and maintenance activities comply with food safety, GMP, HACCP, and SHE standards.
    • Uphold a clean, safe, and organized work environment in line with 5S principles.
    • Maintain accurate production and maintenance logs, capturing breakdowns, stoppages, and corrective actions.
    • Apply and enforce safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and confined space protocols.
    • Participate in safety drills, audits, and investigations, ensuring all incidents are reported and corrective actions implemented.
    • Collaborate closely with the Quality, Maintenance, and Operations teams to achieve production targets and minimize losses.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Food/Process Technology, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
    • Practical experience operating or maintaining canning lines is highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of brewing, packaging, utilities, or process plant operations is an added advantage.
    • Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and food safety systems.
    • Competence in computer applications such as SCADA, MS Office, and ERP systems.
    • Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
    • Commitment to operational safety and compliance with EHS standards.

    Machine Operator

    About the Role

    Our client, Sierra Premium Breweries Ltd, is seeking a skilled and proactive Machine Operator to join their production team. This role is critical in ensuring smooth, efficient, and high-quality beverage production while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

    The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about process improvement, with a strong mechanical or technical background in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operate, monitor, and adjust assigned machines and equipment in line with production schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Perform machine start-ups, shutdowns, and product changeovers while minimizing downtime and maintaining product quality.
    • Record, monitor, and control process parameters to ensure all products meet required specifications.
    • Conduct daily checks, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to reduce breakdowns and maintain uptime.
    • Collaborate with the Maintenance and Quality teams to address mechanical or quality-related issues promptly.
    • Maintain accurate production logs, quality checklists, and equipment maintenance records.
    • Ensure machines and work areas are cleaned, sanitized, and compliant with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP standards.
    • Promote safety-first behavior, adhere to PPE requirements, and report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance overall plant performance.
    • Execute 5S principles and ensure readiness of machines as per the daily and weekly production plans.
    • Participate in team meetings, shutdown maintenance, and equipment audits to ensure operational excellence.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Diploma in Food Science & Technology, Process/Biochemical Engineering, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
    • 1–2 years of experience in machine operation and maintenance, preferably within a beverage or FMCG manufacturing environment.
    • Familiarity with brewing, packaging, or process plant operations (e.g., Boilers, CIP systems, Pasteurizers, Water Treatment Plants, etc.) is an added advantage.
    • Sound understanding of quality systems, safety protocols, and environmental regulations (KEBS, NEMA, OSHA 2007, Public Health).
    • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high-quality output.
    • Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
