    EYFS Teacher

    Summary of Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

    Specific Duties

    • Teaching & Learning and Assessment
    • All professional duties including planning, preparation, teaching a broad and balanced curriculum, marking and assessment, giving feedback and reporting.
    • Maintaining effective communication with parents.
    • The pastoral care, safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all students.
    • Contributing to the busy life of the school through the co-curricular programme.
    • Supporting and driving the ethos, aims and values of the school.
    • Ensuring every child is included and achieves to their full potential.
    • All staff are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the School’s Code of Conduct
    • Plan and prepare learning activities and experiences for all children in line with the EYFS framework and the Early Learning Goals.
    • Deliver a broad and balanced creative education, which enables every child to develop to their maximum potential, in a dynamic and caring environment.
    • Ensure the characteristics of effective learning underpin every learning experience and that all children are engaged, motivated and thinking critically.
    • Pastoral Care and Promoting the Wellbeing of Students:
    • Incorporate the school’s mission, aims and core values into your working practice and be a positive role model to others.

    • Provide guidance and advice to students and parents on educational and social matters.

    • Remuneration Terms and Conditions
    • The initial contract is for a period of two years, renewable thereafter.

    Person Specification

    • Be a fully qualified teacher with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience.

    Computer Science Teacher

    • We seek to appoint a Whole School Computer Science Teacher with experience of teaching the UK curriculum, up to IGCSE Level, and ideally to A Level, for September 2025.
    • It is our ambition to become the best international school in Nairobi. This will require world-class teachers and leaders, committed to achieving the highest standards of teaching and learning. We are also passionate about the deeply personal community where every student is known individually, a child-centred approach, a strong focus on wellbeing, and a rounded education with the MARK values permeating every aspect of the student experience.
    • The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and experience of teaching the UK Computer Science curriculum up to IGCSE and ideally to A Level. You will have the initiative to develop the Computer Science curriculum initially from Year 1 to Year 9 and in subsequent years to IGCSE and A Level including creating the schemes of work and resources, and developing wider opportunities such as trips.
    • You will also contribute to the wider team establishing the expectations within the school. In this early stage of the school’s development everybody will need to ‘muck in’ and have the adaptability to contribute across a range of areas. All staff will be expected to offer some extracurricular activities and support the pastoral programme for example as a form tutor and/or offering PSHE.

    Summary of Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

    • Produce a departmental development plan, updated annually.
    • Produce and regularly update schemes of work and curriculum documents.
    • Take responsibility for the demands of public examination courses.
    • Mark and assess the work of potential entrants to the school as required.
    • Maintain regular communication with Prep and Senior School Curriculum Advisors.
    • Contribute to the overall curriculum planning of the school.
    • Plan and prepare courses and lessons in accordance with published schemes of work.
    • Teach the assigned students, including setting and marking of work and assessments in line with school policy.
    • Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of students in line with school policy. 

    Qualifications, Background and Experience

    • Have a good honours degree and a teacher training qualification for the 11-18 age range.
    • Have a minimum of 2 years teaching experience, ideally 5 or more years teaching experience.
    • Be able to teach Computer Science up to IGCSE and to A Level.
    • Have a valid Teacher Services Commission Certificate (if applying from Kenya) or a PGCE,
    • Qualified Teacher Status or a general education degree (for overseas applicants).
    • Be a skilled classroom practitioner, having a good subject knowledge and an awareness of teaching methodology.
