    Hair Stylist Technician (Hairdresser)

    Job Description

    Hair stylists make customers look and feel good by providing appealing and fashionable haircut and hair color services. They conscientiously listen to clients’ preferences and recommend hair styles based on face shape and complexion. They also educate customers about proper hair and scalp care. In the hair stylist role, you will shampoo, blow-dry, cut, color, groom and style the customer’s hair. You will be responsible for making the customer feel relaxed and pampered throughout the session. You must maintain extensive knowledge about current trends in haircuts and hair styling. Success in this role will be demonstrated by helping the salon achieve its daily sales quota, improving customer retention, and expanding clientele.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Offer haircut and blow-dry services, comb and braid hair, styling, shampoo, offer bleaching, coloring, and hair tinting services, Cuts, curls, or dyes hair per customer’s request
    • Quickly responds to customer concerns about hair styling
    • Helps foster and maintain a relaxed and positive salon atmosphere
    • Attends trainings and informative programs
    • Keeps tools and workstation clean and sanitized
    • Maintains a professional and friendly customer approach
    • Proactively acquire new clients
    • Consistently improve customer retention through fostering relationships and planning visits in advance
    • Develop effective presentation, technical, and relationship-building abilities
    • Provide outstanding customer service abilities and a strong work ethic
    • Demonstrate a willingness to develop and pursue further education to develop an awareness of current trends
    • Create a flexible schedule to work at night, on weekends, and on certain holidays
    • Staying abreast of current fashion trends and popular hair styles
    • Maintaining a strong inventory of hair care products
    • Keeping appointments on schedule

    Qualifications

    • Outstanding customer service and strong communication skills (verbal and speaking)
    • Outgoing and friendly demeanor
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule
    • Knowledge of different hair tools and products
    • Creative, artistic, and innovative
    • Strong organization and strong management skills
    • Able to stand for extended hours
    • High attention to detail
    • Helps foster and maintain a relaxed and positive salon atmosphere through empathy and collaboration
    • Passion for fashion trends and hair care
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an upscale salon or hospitality and spa industry highly preferred
    • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
    • Diploma in Hair.
    • Beauty or cosmetology certificate would be desirable.

    Role Overview:

    As a Sales Executive for Leisure segment, you will be responsible for developing and nurturing relationships with travel agents and tour companies to drive business to our hotel. You will play a crucial role in promoting Novotel Nairobi Westlands, ensuring that our offerings are top-of-mind for industry partners.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with travel agents and tour companies.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to maximize room sales and revenue.
    • Conduct regular sales calls, presentations, and hotel site inspections for potential clients.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling sales materials and promotions.
    • Track and report on sales performance and market trends.
    • Attend industry events and trade shows to network and promote the hotel.
    • Provide exceptional customer service and support to clients, addressing any inquiries or concerns promptly.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in BA (Sales & Marketing) or related field
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sales, preferably within the hospitality or travel industry.
    • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
    • Highly self-driven with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to work independently.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
    • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with clients.
    • Familiarity with the travel and tourism market in Nairobi and East Africa is a plus
