    Electrician

     Job Summary

    The primary function of the school Electrician is to undertake a variety of tasks relating to setting up and maintaining electrical infrastructure. S/He should be able to set up and maintain well-functioning electrical installations that meet relevant safety and quality standards in order to minimize the probability of accidents and maximize the usability of electricity within the school facilities.

    Job Description/Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Execute plans of electrical wiring for well-functioning lighting, intercom, and other electrical systems
    • Install electrical apparatus, fixtures, and equipment for alarm and other systems
    • Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
    • Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
    • Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
    • Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits, etc.
    • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units
    • Complete all work to the highest standard
    • Keep the Head Teacher and Facility Manager informed of any potential risks and recommend alleviation plans.

    The requirements

    • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or other equivalents
    • Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems
    • 5 years of experience (two of those worked within a learning institution would be an added advantage)

    Finance Officer

     Job Summary

    The job holder will organize and streamline finance function and coordination within the Academy schools in Nairobi. He/ She will be required to ensure that the internal control, accounting processes, and financial policies are adhered to as well as ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of Revenue, payables, cash and bank transactions, reconciliations functions, and records within the schools. S/he will also be responsible for monitoring the budgets and production of all reports required on a timely basis.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and supervise the Finance team and the procurement assistant at the Academy,
    • Be responsible for the accuracy of financial records and processes,
    • Collaborate closely with Coordinators, Heads of Departments, the Facility manager, and other budget holders.
    • Provide financial data, including budget information, to support to the Head Teachers of the Nursery, Junior and Senior Schools. Oversee the creation and maintenance of the School Inventory and managing the Procurement Assistant, the librarian, the lab technicians, the IT technicians in the cataloging, issuing, and maintaining of educational equipment/resources.
    • Will prepare a budget/actuals analysis on a monthly basis for circulation to HT and CO.
    • Will interact with HTs, CO, Support auditors conducting school audits.
    • Will be answerable for all receipts and payments of the school

    • Degree in Commerce or any other related field
    • CPA –K will be an added advantage

    Finance Assistant

     Job Summary

    The Job holder will be required to assist the Finance Officer to run the finance office for all the Academy Units. He/ She will be required to ensure that the accurate preparation of financial documents, internal controls, accounting processes, and financial policies are adhered to. Manage the Student Information System application, Petty cash

    Job Description/Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Action the school’s financial procedure in accordance with statutory guidelines, school and education department policy and practice.
    • Issue fee and other invoices as per approved fee schedule and in line with fee information for trips, extracurricular activities, peripatetic music lessons and other activities.
    • Record, reconcile and bank all fees and other payments on a daily basis in the school’s Finance system.
    • Issue receipts through the school’s Finance system in a timely manner
    • Follow up with debtors under the Finance Officer’s supervision.
    • Process reimbursements and caution requests under the Finance Officer’s supervision.
    • Produce reports manually and from SIS as requested by Finance Officer, CO and HTs

    ICT Support Specialist

     Job Description/Requirements

    The position

    • Provide first level of technical support to the users of all ICT services including information systems) available at AKES offices and schools.
    • Assist in the implementation and support of all ICT initiatives and information systems.
    • Assist in the implementation of ICT policies and Standard Operation Procedures.
    • Ensure timely installation, configuration and maintenance of ICT hardware, software and network equipment, while maintaining proper documentations on all configurations, design, faults/incidents and responses.
    • Assist in the implementation of information security related best practices for all ICT services available at AKES units in Kenya;
    • Assist schools in identifying and quantifying ICT needs with guidance from central office IT;
    • Maintain updated inventory record for ICT hardware, software and network equipment within cluster;
    • Ensure regular updates to operating systems, anti-malware solutions and other systems for all computers;
    • Provide technical training to the users of ICT services as and when required;
    • Assist ICT function at central office in extending support to ICT staff members at all AKES schools in Kenya, as and when needed.

    The requirements

    • Preferably a bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or related field from a reputable institution.
    • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience preferably in school environment.
    • Strong and demonstrable IT skills in Hardware, networking, cloud computing.
    • Relevant IT certifications would be an added advantage

    School Nurse

     Job Description/Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Implementing the relevant school health polices and guidelines paying attention to the relevant school and public heath laws and regulations
    • Carry out all duties to nursing and first aid applications
    • Serves as the expert in the school to meet student health needs, with an understanding of normal growth and development in children, as well as children with special health needs
    • Monitors disease outbreak amongst children and institutes infection control measures to prevent the spread
    • Is responsible to assess school environment for the safety of children and provides the necessary advice to school administration about potential risks
    • Takes lead in health promotion and screening programs in the school, and is conversant with referral procedures to health providers
    • The school nurse serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community, and health care providers to advocate for health care and a healthy school environment

    • Nursing Diploma or Equivalent from a recognized school of nursing or University
    • 3 -5 year of related experience preferred in a school setting
    • Current license with the Nursing Council of Kenya
    • Certification in the basic life support (BLS)

    Facilities Manager - Mombasa

     Job Summary

    The Facilities Manager will have overall responsibility for overseeing the complete maintenance of all AKES-K facilities, (buildings and property) and initiate and manage all repairs and related construction projects as required. S/He will also be required to oversee and manage health and safety-related issues at all AKES-K schools in Mombasa.

    Job Description/Requirements

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of all facilities under AKESK Mombasa; conduct regular inspections, identify repairs needed and prepare a detailed yearly maintenance program;
    • Implementation of facilities policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operation of all the facilities.
    • Oversee activities of contractors, tender processes with RFM, vendor personnel, and suppliers; monitor contracts for compliance and controls costs;
    • Implement recommendations of Environment Management Audit Reports and Occupational, Safety and Health Audit Reports at the schools in collaboration with Regional Head of Security and Risk Management
    • Prepare and manage annual school facilities and property and upkeep budgets
    • Prepare and present Facilities reports on a timely basis for the review and guidance of Head Teacher and Regional Facilities Manager
    • Develop and maintain emergency/disaster preparedness and recovery plans.

    Procurement Coordinator

     Job Description/Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide support to Head-teachers, Central Office and school Finance team with regards to procurement systems and procedures.
    • Share and monitor the updated vendor's list
    • Compare and evaluate offers from suppliers in consultation with Head-teachers and Finance Officer
    • Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing for outsourced services
    • Track orders and ensure timely delivery
    • Review the quality of purchased products
    • Enter order details (e.g. vendors, quantities, prices) into internal databases
    • Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information, and invoices and seek to digitize these with support from IT and Head-teachers
    • Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses
    • With assistance of store manager monitor stock levels and place orders as needed

    The requirements
