    Communications Officer

    AMURT recently won an award for KENYA HEALTH PARTNERSHIPS FOR QUALITY SERVICES (KHPQS)-OVC/DREAMS program, and seeks to recruit the following positions based in Mombasa and Kilifi Counties.

    Responsible for developing, supporting and promoting the program goal through messages development, social media content creation, media outreach, developing and disseminating materials that increase the program visibility, creating strategies to effectively engage beneficiaries and quality reporting.  The job holder will play a key role in the project ’s communications with all the stake holders and will report to the COP.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the project implementation team on quality documentation of best practices
    • Responsible for developing, supporting and promoting the program goal through messages development, social media content creation, media outreach, developing and disseminating materials that increase the program visibility, creating strategies to effectively engage beneficiaries and quality reporting.
    • Responsible for advising and ensuring compliance with donor branding and marking requirements.
    • Lead all communication aspects for the project and ensure high standards of professionalism
    • Play a key role in supporting the COP and project team in strategic engagement of the county governments and private partners
    • Spearhead development and implementation of communication strategies for the project
    • Advise on all media coverage for key project events to ensure quality and compliance with donor and organizational communication requirements
    • Work closely with the Executive Director COP, DCOP and Technical leads to ensure that all donor reports are prepared to quality standards in compliance with contractual obligations, maintaining a tracking system to ensure that all reporting deadlines are met.
    • Coordinate and manage project communication channels and materials including print, video, publications, and social media activities.

    Qualifications

    • At least a bachelor’s degree in Communications or relevant discipline from an accredited institution.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant working experience in a similar role
    • Demonstrated strong experience on USAID visibility and branding work
    • Strong writing and editorial skills
    • Creativity and innovation: Ability to develop and adapt innovative approaches and replicable strategies for communication and documentation
    • Planning and organizing skills: Ability to coordinate and facilitate quality documentation and communication to internal and external audience.
    • Communication skills: Ability to make presentations that catch and maintain audience interest; and excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in using Windows Operating System as well as Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

    Senior Project Officers (SPO)- HES

    AMURT is located in Central region, Nyanza region, Samburu County and Coastal region of Kenya.

    AMURT recently won an award for KENYA HEALTH PARTNERSHIPS FOR QUALITY SERVICES (KHPQS)-OVC/DREAMS program, and seeks to recruit the following positions based in Mombasa and Kilifi Counties.

    The SPO- House Hold Economic Strengthening (HES) will be responsible for efficient and effective roll-out of HES activities in targeted counties within the coastal region.  He/ She will implement, monitor and report age appropriate and gender -responsive project activities on HES. This will also entail capacity strengthening through training, accompaniment, and technical support to field and LIPs staff in support of Tujitegemee project. The SPO –HES will appropriately work with the Private Sector to link savings groups with Financial Education (FE) marketing training, Private sector financing, entrepreneurship and franchising opportunities. His/her thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving livelihoods and economic wellbeing for targeted beneficiaries. H/she will coordinate closely with other Tujitegemee Project Officers to contribute to a holistic, integrated, and comprehensive project implementation.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of all HES project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with Tujitegemee program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, GOK requirements, and good practices.
    • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
    • Assist local implementing partners (LIPs) in their efforts to reflect on project experiences
    • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and assisting LIPs in their efforts to collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with LIPs to prepare reports per established reporting schedule.
    • Provide capacity strengthening to LIP staff through trainings, workshops, facilitated group interactions, as well as accompaniment through regular communication, and site visits to support the successful implementation and monitoring of HES project activities.
    • Collect information on technical assistance needs of LIPs, provide technical support and monitor capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.
    • Complete project documentation for assigned activities and assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices. Actively engage in dissemination and use of relevant knowledge in the field.
    • Represent Tujitegemee project in meetings at county and cluster levels, working groups, and other events as requested, to support forging relations with the GOK, LIPs, other stakeholders, and the community.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all assigned project activities per donor and Tujitegemee project standards and established schedules.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Natural Resource Management, Social Sciences or a related field. Master’s degree will be added advantage
    • 6 years of work experience in household economic strengthening programming for Vulnerable households
    • In-depth understanding of donor expectations for program results, outcomes, impact, and reporting.
    • At least 4 years’ experience on Savings-led Microfinance models- SILC, VSLA, Community-based savings for empowerment- Saving for Change etc
    • Experience in economic strengthening of communities through social assistance, asset growth and promotion and income growth.
    • Knowledge and experience of SMART Skills and Pathway to Prosperity and their application in improving livelihoods
    • Experience in participatory action planning and engagement of stakeholders at various levels.
    • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
    • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

    Personal Skills

    • Strong communication, relationship management skills with ability to influence and get buy-in from people not under direct supervision and to work with individuals in diverse geographical and cultural settings
    • Good strategic, analytical, problem-solving and systems thinking skills with capacity to see the big picture and ability to make sound judgment

    Travel Required

    Technical Lead Household Economic Strengthening (HES)

    Technical Lead –HES will have the overall responsibility to provide technical guidance ad leadership on delivery of all HES interventions for the project. S/he will provide expert guidance on appropriate programmatic approaches to prepare OVC households in expanding their economic abilities through structured initiatives. S/he will also design and implement innovative approaches for AGYW to succeed in the workforce/self-employment and connect AGYW to employment opportunities. This will also entail establishing and strengthening partnerships with private sector as an element of success.

    Responsibilities

    • Reporting to the DCOP, S/he will be responsible for the coordination and management of the economic strengthening pillar for the project, including managing of the HES work planning as well as overseeing all the trainings, work opportunity linkages and private sector engagement.
    • Responsible for the technical oversight over the implementation of the OVC/DREAMS Economic Strengthening component of the program and ensure highest technical standards, adopt innovative programmatic approaches and contribute to the overall OVC/DREAMS strategic objectives.
    • Active engagement with key stakeholders such as Private Sector, Agencies, Government, Developmental Sector to secure linkage opportunities for OVC caregivers and AGYW in various pathways
    • Supervision of staff and ensuring OVC caregivers and AGYW are successfully linked to economic empowerment opportunities, employment, entrepreneurship, wage internship, learnership and vocational training.
    • Provides expert advice on a coordinated, streamlined and effective organizational strategy to meet the OVC/AGYW HES targets.
    • Oversees the monitoring of project activities, providing technical assistance to project staff and sub-grantees when necessary.
    • Provides overall quality assurance on technical design and implementation.
    • Actively liaise with OVC/DREAMS implementing partners, NGOs and other civil society partners, County government, and private sector to cultivate strategic relationships and alliance.

    Qualifications

    • Masters in Social Sciences / Economics, or any related field,
    • At least 8 progressive years of experience as a specialist working in Economic Strengthening or Workforce in Kenya
    • Demonstrated experience linking youth and AGYW to employment or entrepreneurship activities
    • Demonstrated experience linking with private partners
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the potential private sector support landscape for AGYW and caregivers in Kenya.
    • At least five years demonstrated PEPFAR experience in managing and supervising a team preferred
    • Strong familiarity with PEPFAR and USAID policies, procedures, rules, regulations and reporting requirements
    • Proven leadership and inter-personal skills and ability to build and motivate diverse and talented teams
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili.

    Travel Required

    • Up to 70% of the time to Tujitegemee project sites.
