    Project Assistant Environmentalist

    REF: KETRACO/5/1C/40/132/VOL II – B (2 POSITIONS) ON CONTRACT TERMS OF TWO (2) YEARS RENEWABLE

    Reporting to Environmental Safeguards and Sustainability Officer. This job is responsible for assisting Company projects to comply with Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA) Cap 387, relevant national legislations, Multi-lateral Environment agreements (MEAs), development partner’s environmental safeguard policies, international best practices and KETRACO environmental policy. Through this compliance, projects are implemented in an environmentally sound and socially acceptable manner.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Participating in the implementation of environmental management policies, strategies, plans and other relevant statutes and recommendations contained in reports;
    2. Participating in feasibility studies and ESIA & EA for KETRACO projects;
    3. Participating in review ESIA reports submitted by consultants to KETRACO;
    4. Participating in carrying out quarterly Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) monitoring on KETRACO projects under construction.
    5. Participating in stakeholder mapping and engagement for KETRACO projects;
    6. Participating in sensitization of communities and project affected persons on environmental issues for KETRACO projects;
    7. Participating in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the division; viii. Participating in KETRACO activities involving environmental protection climate change mitigation and other emerging issues;

    Qualifications & Skills required

    1. A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Environmental Planning and Management/ Natural Resource Management or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution
    2. Must be registered as an Associate EIA/EA Expert with NEMA;
    3. Must be registered as Associate member with Environment Institute of Kenya;
    4. Must have a valid practicing license from NEMA as an associate Expert;
    5. A minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience.
    6. Certificate of Good Conduct vii. Good understanding of EMCA Cap 387 and its regulations;
    7. Good understanding of International Best Practice (IBP) in Environmental practice.
    8. Proficiency in computer application skills;
    9. Personal attributes such as; Communication skills, Analytical skills, report writing skills, presentations skills, Interpersonal skills, public consultation skills, self-drive, Knowledge in office automation applications. Working Conditions - Office setting and field setting

    Rider

    REF: KETRACO/5/1C/40/131/VOL II – B (1 POSITION) ON CONTRACT TERMS OF SIX (6) MONTHS RENEWABLE

    Reporting to Transport Officer. This job is responsible for riding the Company’s motorbike for delivery and collection of official letters, parcels and packages within stipulated timelines.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Riding Company’s motorcycle to accomplish official duties;
    2. Observing driving related policies to ensure the consistent safety of documents and motorcycle;
    3. Reporting on all matters relating to assigned motorcycle to the supervisor;
    4. Updating work ticket on a daily basis with the required information;
    5. Ensuring the assigned motorcycle documents/ particulars are updated and valid;
    6. Ensuring that the motorcycle is cleaned routinely;
    7. Carrying out the daily inspection on the general condition of the motorcycle
    8. Collecting and sorting records;
    9. Distributing internal and external mails and channel to the correct recipients;
    10. Ensuring security of mails on transit;
    11. Opening the post office regularly, and collecting and disseminating mails;
    12. Filing stamped copies as evidence of externally dispatched mails;
    13. Ensuring the postal services subscriptions are paid and up to date;
    14. Contacting intended destinations or point of origin of mails to verify delivery address; xv. Accounting for monthly fuel consumption.

    Qualifications & Skills required

    1. KCSE D+ or equivalent
    2. Valid driving license with a class F approval
    3. Conversant with roads in Nairobi and environs;
    4. A minimum of one (1) year relevant work experience in an office stting;
    5. Must be familiar with traffic laws;
    6. Must be able to communicate well in English;
    7. Good customer service skills;
    8. Able to troubleshoot and handle basic motorbike repairs; ix. Basic recordkeeping skills;

    Project Assistant Surveyor

    REF: KETRACO/5/1C/40/133/VOL I – B (2 POSITIONS) ON CONTRACT TERMS OF TWO (2) YEARS RENEWABLE

    This is the entry position for diploma or equivalent professional qualification and will be required to work under supervision of a Land Surveyor.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Assist in carrying out reconnaissance for route firming up;
    2. Participating in collection of field data, computations and updating way leave acquisition drawings;
    3. Assist in compilation and revision of land schedules for way leave corridors;
    4. Participating in Geo-referencing of survey maps from Survey of Kenya records;
    5. Participating in validation of tower pegging and setting out during project construction;
    6. Storage of survey records.

    Qualifications & Skills required

    1. At least four (4) years relevant experience for Diploma holders;
    2. Two (2) years’ experience for Higher Diploma holders;
    3. Technician member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya, Land / Engineering Surveyors Chapter;
    4. Demonstrate results in work performance;
    5. Proficiency in the usage of recognized computer mapping software and common office applications;
    6. Good communication and interpersonal skills;
    7. Communication skills;
    8. Teamwork.
