    Livestock Production Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Preparing livestock technical information
    2. Providing technical advice in animal production
    3. Livestock marketing, range management and ranching
    4. Promoting economic livestock farming
    5. Participating in organizing extension activities which include field days, agricultural shows, field demonstration, farmer field schools and farm visits
    6. Participating in collaborative research activities
    7. Disseminating livestock production technologies such as construction of livestock housing and structures, milk production, pasture and fodder production and conservation, farm planning, gross margin analysis, on-farm feed formulation
    8. Implementation livestock production programmes/projects in such areas as dairy cattle farming, beef cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, rabbits, camels, donkeys breeding programmes, fodder production and conversation, value addition to livestock products, emerging livestock and other animal husbandry interventions
    9. Capturing, maintaining and storing livestock data

    Requirements for Appointment

    1. Must be a Kenyan citizen.
    2. Bachelor of Science in any of the following disciplines:- Animal science, Animal production, Range Management, Livestock Economics, Dairy Technology from a recognized institution.
    3. Certificate in computer applications.

    Terms of Service:

    1. Permanent

    Salary Scale:

    1. Ksh. 38,270 – 51,170 p.m

    Other Allowances as are issued by SRC.

    Assistant Livestock Production Officer III

    Duties and responsibilities

    1. Carrying out practical demonstrations relating to livestock production
    2. Accompanying extension teams during farm visits and farmer training
    3. Participating in field days and agricultural shows to disseminate livestock production technologies and information.
    4. Collecting and collating livestock data and information for gross margins, market access inputs and products samples for analysis;
    5. Advising farmers on group formation, construction of farm structures and equipment
    6. Coordination of village production officers
    7. Delivery of livestock production extension services on all livestock production enterprises
    8. Conducting field days and on farm demonstrations relating to livestock production.
    9. Conducting training of livestock producers/ farmers
    10. Collecting and compiling livestock production statistical data
    11. Advising farmers on group formation, construction of farm structures and equipment.
    12. Collecting livestock production and marketing data.
    13. Preparing livestock production reports; Quarterly and annual reports.
    14. Monitor and reporting on livestock marketing and value addition at ward level

    Requirements for appointment

    1. Must be a Kenyan citizen.
    2. Diploma in any of the following disciplines:- Animal health and Production, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Science and Technology, Animal production, Apiculture, Range management from a recognized institution.
    3. Certificate in computer applications.

    Shortlisted candidates will be required to present originals of the following documents during the interviews;

    1. National Identity Card;
    2. Academic and Professional Certificates and transcripts;
    3. Any other supporting documents and testimonials;

    Current clearances from the following bodies:

    Animal Health Assistant II

    Duties and responsibilities

    1. Carrying out simple treatment of animals
    2. Participating in disease search and reporting
    3. Demonstration on milking techniques and eternal parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting
    4. Carry out vaccination; and
    5. Undertaking closed castration, dehorning, de-worming, disbudding, docking, de beaking hoof trimming

    Requirements for appointment

    1. Must be a Kenyan citizen.
    2. Certificate lasting not less than two (2) years in any of the following disciplines: Animal Health, Animal Health and Production.
    3. Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board.
    4. Certificate in meat inspection.
    5. Certificate in computer applications.

    Shortlisted candidates will be required to present originals of the following documents during the interviews;

    1. National Identity Card;
    2. Academic and Professional Certificates and transcripts;
    3. Any other supporting documents and testimonials;

    Current clearances from the following bodies:

    1. Kenya Revenue Authority;
    2. Higher Education Loans Board;
    3. A Registered Credit Reference Bureau; and
    4. Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Police Clearance Certificate)
