    Working Lands Director - Africa Program

    Your Position with TNC

    TNC is looking for an experienced professional to head an expanding team focused on agriculture and forestry and other sustainable land-use in Africa.

    This position’s main focus will be on developing high leverage partnerships with bilaterals, corporations and other NGOs working in this space in support of our existing Agriculture, Forestry and Energy Strategies within TNC Africa.

    Essential Functions

    Working Lands Director will oversee supervision of multidisciplinary team, recruitment of additional members, management of existing high level partnerships and collaborations in public and private sector, identification and management of new partnerships, coordination with senior TNC management in Africa and globally on all issues around agriculture, land use and development in Africa.

    Leading and supporting, as necessary, fundraising efforts for the program, focusing primarily on foundations, corporate and bilateral / multilateral donors, representing TNC in public spaces and speaking for the organization on issues relevant to food security and development in Africa, briefing top TNC management addressing those issues, ensuring African perspectives and priorities around food security are represented in high level strategic discussions and decision-making within TNC at senior management level.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • BA/BS degree and 12 years’ experience in conservation practice or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Expert knowledge of current development, environmental and agricultural trends in Africa, especially East Africa

    Desired Qualifications

    • Postgraduate degree and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in agricultural development and sustainability, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Human Resource Manager - Africa Region

    Your Position with TNC

    The Human Resources Manager provides human resource services in the following functions: employee relations, compensation, talent management and staff development and training, benefits, staff retention, organizational development and recruiting, with a high level of expertise in area(s) of specialization.

    This position reports to Director of Finance and Operations, Africa and is based either in Nairobi, Kenya, or Arusha or Dar es Salaam in Tanzania or Lusaka in Zambia.

    This position is regional supporting all countries where TNC has operations including Gabon, Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya South Africa, Seychelles and Botswana.

    Essential Functions

    The Human Resources Manager, Africa Region is responsible for administering and maintaining HR systems, programs, procedures, and plans according to HR policies, provide assistance to all levels of personnel on various HR data related issues and requests.

    S/he will work closely with Global HR team, Director of Finance and Operations in the development and administration of HR standards and client services that support the Africa BU.

    S/he is responsible for career and professional development ¡n the Africa program, implementation of quality performance and reward systems for staff, and to develop and implement strategies for high staff engagement and support.

    S/he will coordinate and manage recruitments, develop & implement policies and systems across Africa in line with strategic HR priorities, build systems that provide staff with adequate staff care and capacity building, that strengthen awareness, accountability and professionalism among staff

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years Human Resources work experience in area(s) of specialization or equivalent combination.
    • Human Resource certified professional.
    • Post graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management
