    Clearing Operations Assistant

    Overview

    Acting as the functional heart of our business, Operations makes everything work on time and on target, in a world that demands lightning-fast transaction speeds, pinpoints execution accuracy and full visibility. It ensures global transactions flow smoothly around the clock, wherever we do business. Without it, the daily clearance, settlement and execution of a trillion dollars’ worth of trades and the weekly movement of tens of billions of dollars in dozens of world currencies would come to a complete standstill.

    Responsibilities

    The Clearing operations Assistant is an entry level role responsible for the processing of all regular, restricted and legal transfers in coordination with the Transaction Services team. The overall objective is to perform moderately complex collections and payments operation tasks, by providing processing assistance for assigned projects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide instructions for a variety of tasks, including receipts and authentication, processing and recording, and reporting and reconciliation
    • Perform cheque processing, return items and lock-box operations
    • Responsible for ensuring that transactions are processed accurately, timely and in line with Citibank’s policies and Kenya Bankers’ Association’s requirements.
    • Frustration of fraud attempts is also a key factor in the execution of this job.
    • Post- dated checks booking and Liquidation
    • Receiving Cheques and Collections from our customers.
    • Reconciliation of Clearing Accounts
    • Imaging Outward cheques and amount Input
    • Preparation and Upload of outward cheques and commissions batches.
    • Participate in UAT, implementation, and assist with training new team members including training initiatives as required
    • Monitor and report errors to ensure adherence to audit and control policies
    • Follow procedures and controls required for bank operations
    • Provide feedback on project related activities

    Qualifications:

    • 1-3 years of relevant experience

    Responsibilities

    This is an intermediate level role responsible for ensuring transactions are processed accurately and on time in coordination with the Transaction Services team. The overall objective is to apply working knowledge of technical concept to recommend process improvements, manage personnel and complete team deliverables efficiently.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise team of employees engaged in performing routine processing and reconciliation tasks
    • Advise and resolve non-routine issues within cash & trade operations
    • Recommend new work procedures that will increase operating efficiency. In addition, Design/Review procedures from time to time to ensure they are current and address Customer needs, legal requirements
    • Apply basic comprehension of how cash management integrates within cash & trade operations to recommend/resolve solutions to complex issues
    • Ensure team meets Key performance Indicators and quality expectations of assigned tasks

    • Management of outsourced processing service
    • Management of Departmental accounts, including booking, follow-ups and prompt liquidation of Sundry, Account Receivables and Suspense Accounts.
    • Support Management in Implementation of Projects and Process Improvement
    • Train and Develop back- ups within the departments for continuity of business.
    • Provide Feedback to Citiservice & banking and product on Related Customer Issues
    • Provide capable back up to the Unit head on a regular basis

    Qualifications:

    • Relevant years of experience in a related role
    • Strong analytical and data analysis skills
    • Demonstrated experience with payments and receivable processing
    • Effective verbal, written, communication and presentation skills
    • Effective management/supervisory, influencing and relationship skills
    • Demonstrated decision making skills
    • Strength in change and crisis management

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s/University degree - 2nd upper and above or equivalent

    Compliance AML Intelligence Officer- VP

    The Compliance AML Intel Officer is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

    Responsibilities:

    • Analyze and proactively identify risks and new AML concerns. Review recent news, court documents, and public/private sector white papers.
    • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets; review computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
    • Gather raw data from prior AML Investigations, subpoenas, and prior escalations to detect trends and “connect the dots” amongst disparate data sets. Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports; present data in charts, graphs, tables, design and develop relational databases for collecting data and building or designing data input/data collection screens.
    • Identify and research high risk areas / typologies and trigger events for risk severity and sensitivity evaluation.
    • Work collaboratively to analyze and review typologies to establish review processes.
    • Utilize pertinent information to write clear and concise summary on the findings of the investigation to advise senior management on next steps.
    • Make recommendations to senior management on next course of action – either relationship retention or termination and, when warranted, prepare Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
