    Kenya Trade Network Agency (KENTRADE) is a state Agency under treasury that is mandated to facilitate cross border trade, Establish, manage and implement the Kenya National Electronic Single Window System (KNESWS). The overall objective of the National Electronic Single Window System Project is to facilitate international trade by reducing delays and lowering costs associated with clearance of goods at the Kenyan borders while maintaining the requisite controls and collection of levies, fees duties and taxes, where applicable on imports or exports.     Senior Product and Applications Development Officer – KTNA 6

    No of Positions: 2

    Reports to: Assistant Manager Applications

    Purpose for the Job

    The purpose of the job is gathering user requirements, analyzing, designing, developing and implementing business applications and the maintenance of existing solutions as well as innovations for efficiency and enhanced service delivery

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Develop prototypes for required solutions;
    2. Develop code, update and maintain software solutions, packages or reports to fulfil user requirements;
    3. Maintain applications, debug or enhance existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements;
    4. Conduct unit and integration tests for solutions developed;
    5. Draft, contribute to instructions or manuals to guide end users;
    6. Spearhead application changes with version control and making sure that release management is kept;
    7. Coordinate specialist trainings that relate to supported applications and areas, study operations and user manuals, request specialist trainings;
    8. Team up with legal and project managers to shape software contracts ensuring contracts address architecture and economic value goals of software systems;
    9. Supervise the configuration and deployment of software solutions;
    10. Implement program support for computer operators or system analysts to define and resolve problems in running computer programs;
    11. Spearhead such other duties as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the level of responsibility of this job.

    Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience

    1. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    2. A supervisory course lasting not less than 2 weeks will be an added advantage;
    3. At least three (3) years’ working experience in applications development and database operations;
    4. Experience with a variety of object oriented programming languages;
    5. Proficiency in Relational Databases
    6. Membership to a relevant professional body;
    7. Meets provision of chapter six of the Constitution;

    System Administrator – KTNA 7

    No of Positions: 2

    Reports to: Assistant Manager, Data and Systems Management

    Purpose for the Job

    The purpose of this job is to ensure effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of systems, hardware and software and related infrastructure.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Design and Implement Complex multi-server architectures;
    2. Controlling access permissions and privileges of corporate systems as per set policies, procedures and User needs;
    3. Manage both UNIX/LINUX and Windows based Virtualised Server environments;
    4. Installing and configuring System software’s;
    5. Documentation of systems configurations;
    6. Troubleshooting and fixing of any reported system problems;
    7. Responsible for system performance tuning;
    8. Regularly Apply system updates and patches;
    9. Assess user and stakeholder needs and propose cost effective solutions;
    10. Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the level of responsibility of this job.

    Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related from a recognized institution;
    2. Microsoft administration certification;
    3. UNIX or Linux administration Certification;
    4. Membership to a relevant professional body;

    Senior Information Security Officer – KTNA 6

    Reports to: Assistant Manager, IT Security

    Purpose for the Job

    1. Protecting KenTrade’s data and infrastructure from external or internal threats; and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements regarding information access, security and privacy.
    2. Continuously carrying out information risk assessment to ensure KenTrade’s information security risks are brought under explicit management control

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Spearhead the implementation of a comprehensive information security and Data privacy program for KenTrade;
    2. Spearhead the implementation of and review of KenTrade’s ICT security policies, standards, procedures and guidelines;
    3. Lead in the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of the information security management system based on the ISO/IEC 27000 series standards, including certification against ISO/IEC 27001;
    4. Lead in the activities relating to contingency planning, business continuity management and IT disaster recovery in conjunction with relevant functions and third parties;
    5. Lead the implementation of an ongoing risk assessment program targeting information security matters;
    6. Collect and summarize security events and data including preparing security reports and eventual remedies to be taken;
    7. Administer ICT security tools, maintain security escalation and contact lists and security logs;
    8. Offer internal management consultancy advise and practical assistance on information security risk and control matters throughout the organization;
    9. Carry out information security awareness, training and educational activities;
    10. Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the level of responsibility of this job.

    Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related from a recognized institution;
    • Professional qualifications in CISSM/CISA/ CEH/ Operating System based Certification, Security+;
    • Membership to a relevant professional body;
    • Work experience of atleast three (3) years in Information Security Administration, IT Security compliance or IT security audit will be an added advantage;

    Shipping and Customs Operations Officer – KTNA 7

    Reports to: Manager, TradeNet and Value Add Services

    Purpose for the Job

    To oversee submission and approvals of all Manifest, Baplie, Delivery orders, Arrival reports and other documents related to ports and shipping submitted through Kenya TradeNet System. It also involves overseeing submission and approvals of all Customs related Single window processes including declarations and bonds through Kenya TradeNet System. 

    Duties & Responsibilities

    1. Ensure Manifest, Baplie, Delivery orders, Arrival reports and other documents related to ports and shipping submitted through Kenya TradeNet System are processed timely in line agreed standards and meets customer expectations;
    2. Liaise with Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Ships agents and other stakeholders to ensure that shipping documents are processed as per agreed business processes and timelines;
    3. Ensure Sea manifest, Marine cargo insurance covers and bonds applied through Kenya TradeNet System are processed timely in line agreed standards and meets customer expectations;
    4. Liaise with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to ensure that IDFS, declarations and are processed in ICMS are received in TradeNet system and response back as per agreed business processes and timelines;
    5. Work with stakeholders to ensure that shipping documents processed through Kenya TradeNet System comply to existing regulations and practices;
    6. Continuously monitor the performance of the System to ensure that users of the system process their documents in line with the service level agreements;
    7. Regularly provide reports and statistics on performance of cargo clearance process by PGAs;
    8. Liaise with Business Analysts to improve/streamline processes pertaining to  submission/approval of shipping & Customs in the country
    9. Liaise with System Analysts to ensure that Kenya TradeNet System is continuously enhanced in line with the changing business environment to meet the customer needs in shipping industry;
    10. Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the level of responsibility of this job role.

    Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s’ Degree in a Commerce, Business Administration/ICT or related field from a recognized institution;
    2. Certificate in Computer Application;

    Contact Centre Assistant – KTNA 9

    Reports to: Contact Centre Officer

    Job purpose

    The Contact Centre is the first point of contact and will attend to queries and inquiries via the telephone/email. The Contact Centre Assistant receive clients, calls and handle queries and provides general information about KenTrade.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Effective management of inbound and outbound enquiries received through telephone calls, e-mail, SMS. Ensuring that all customers’ queries are addressed according to the KenTrade customer service charter;
    2. Ensuring complaints or compliments are captured in system and escalated to Subject Matter Experts within agreed timelines;
    3. Identify situations requiring specialist information and direct customers appropriately;
    4. Preparing operational/daily reports and forward to supervisor;
    5. Provide advice and communication using “scripts” when handling customers in the most appropriate format, demonstrating due attention to details and professionalism;
    6. Receive and follow up of issues within set timelines and update customers promptly;
    7. Meet personal/team qualitative and quantitative targets;
    8. Maintain an awareness of all relevant service developments and participate in all aspects of training so as to improve effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery;
    9. Adhering to day to day running and operations of the Call Centre including set

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs);

    1. Ensure adherence to systems and processes for timely and accurate reporting;
    2. Establish and maintain a customer eccentric culture among the team;
    3. Work in close coordination with IT and Trade Facilitation and Value Add Services team for quicker response and resolution to customer issues;
    4. Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the level of responsibility of this job role;

    Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience

    1. Diploma in a relevant field;
    2. Certificate in Computer Application;
    3. Meets provision of chapter six of the Constitution.
