    The University of Embu (UoEm) was established as a Constituent College of the University of Nairobi via a Legal Notice No. 65 of 17th June, 2011 by His Excellency the President. EUC is the successor of the former Embu Agricultural Staff Training (EAST) College which started in 1947 as an agricultural training school and was later renamed Embu Institute of Agriculture in 1968. In 1990, it was upgraded to be Embu Agricultural Staff Training (EAST) College whose mandate was to develop and implement short management and technical courses, and offer research and consultancy services to enhance performance in the agricultural sector.

    Job Summary

    Positions of Professor in the following areas;

    • Law
    • Nursing
    • Educational Planning and Administration
    • Education Foundations
    • Geography
    • History
    • Criminology and Security Studies
    • Instructional Methods in either History, Geography or Literature

    GRADE 15

    Qualification

    • Applicants must be holders of an earned PhD degree from a recognized University in the relevant areas of specialty. In addition, applicants must also:
    • Have at least twelve (12) years of University teaching experience, three (3) of which as full time Associate Professor;
    • Have at least sixty (60) publication points, forty (40) of which are from articles in referred scholarly journals since being appointed Associate Professor;
    • Have successfully supervised to completion at least six (6) Masters and two (2) PhD students since being appointed Associate Professor;
    • Show evidence of successfully securing at least two (2) research grants since being appointed Associate Professor;
    • Show evidence of attendance and contribution of learned conferences, seminars or workshops;
    • Show evidence of active participation/leadership in departmental and University activities; and
    • Show evidence of continued research.

    Associate Professors

    GRADE 14

    Qualification and Experience

    • Applicants must be holders of an earned PhD degree in the relevant area of speciality. In addition,applicants must:
    • Have at least eight (8) years of University teaching experience, three (3) of which as full time Senior Lecturer;
    • Have at least 48 publication points, 32 of which are from articles in refereed scholarly journals since being appointed Senior Lecturer;
    • Have successfully supervised to completion at least five (5) Masters and one (1) PhD student since being appointed Senior Lecturer;
    • Show evidence of successfully securing at least two (2) research grants since being appointed Senior Lecturer;
    • Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops;
    • Show evidence of active participation/leadership in departmental and University activities; and
    • Show evidence of continued research.

    Senior Lecturer

    GRADE 13

    Qualification and Experience

    Applicants must be holders of an earned PhD degree in the relevant area of speciality. In addition, applicants must:

    • Have at least five (5) years of University teaching experience, three (3) of which as full time Lecturer;
    • Have at least 32 publication points, 24 of which are from articles in refereed scholarly journals since being appointed Lecturer;
    • Have successfully supervised to completion at least four (4) Masters students since being appointed Lecturer;
    • Show evidence of successfully securing at least one (1) research grant since being appointed Lecturer;
    • Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops;
    • Show evidence of active participation/leadership in departmental and University activities; and
    • Show evidence of continued research;

    Lecturer

    GRADE 12

    Requirement

    • Applicants must be holders of an earned PhD degree from a recognized University in the relevant area of specialty. In addition, applicants must:
    • Have a Master’s degree in addition to a first degree from a recognized University in the relevant field;
    • Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops; and
    • Show evidence of continued research. Those who have university teaching experience and have published in refereed journals will have an added advantage.

    Lecturer - Law

    Requirement

    Applicants must be holders of an earned PhD degree from a recognized University in the relevant area of specialty. In addition, applicants must:

    • Have a Master’s degree in addition to a first degree from a recognized University in the relevant field;
    • Show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops; and
    • Show evidence of continued research. Those who have university teaching experience and have published in refereed journals will have an added advantage.
    • Applicants with Master of Laws (LL.M) degree or its equivalent who have at least three years
    • University teaching experience and have at least 24 publication points, 16 of which are from articles in refereed scholarly journals, or;
    • Applicants with a Master of Laws degree or its equivalent who have registered for a PhD and made substantive progress will also be considered.

    Lecturer - Nursing

    Job Description

    Requirements will be the same as for lecturer above, however; applicants with Master of Science

    Degree in Nursing or its equivalent in the relevant areas who have three (3) years University teaching experience and have at least 24 publication points, 16 of which are from articles in refereed scholarly journals will also be considered

    Method of Application

    Open the University of Embu website; www.embuni.ac.ke, choose the job application portal and fill in your details as guided; and

    Send one (1) hard copy of the application letter, accompanied by detailed curriculum vitae (signed on all pages), copies of certified academic and professional certificates, National ID card, current pay slip (if any) and other relevant testimonials. Provide your mobile numbers, email address and names of three (3) referees (who should send their recommendation letters directly to the undersigned in a sealed envelope).

    Note: Applicants who do not submit one (1) hard copy of the application package will not be considered. In addition, applicants for Grade 12 and above must also submit the clearance certificate from the following;

    • Kenya Revenue Authority
    • Higher Education Loans Board (showing status of loan recovery)
    • thics and Anti-Corruption Commission
    • Credit Reference Bureau
    • Certificate of Good Conduct from Directorate of Criminal Investigation
