    Dental Surgeon, Gigiri Executive Clinic

    Responsibilities:

    • Examine, diagnose and treat general oral diseases and carry out emergency dental procedures.
    • Counsel patients on oral hygiene instruction and demonstrate techniques to achieve this.
    • Experience in rotary endodontics and fixed prosthetic works eg: ceramic crown, bridges, veneers.
    • Records care provided in electronic health record system accurately and completely, reflecting the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided.
    • Complete referrals, data collections instruments and other records or documents as required.
    • Liaise with Consultants on adequate referral and follow up on specialized cases
    • Supervise dental auxiliary staff to ensure application of proper technique and update staff on new practices and procedure.
    • Follows policies and procedures as stipulated by JCIA and SafeCare guidelines for patient care to formulate best practice guidelines.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelors of Dental Surgery
    • Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board
    • Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience in general dentistry. Preferable certification in Rotary Endodontics and Fixed Prosthodontics.
    • Experience in implementation of quality and patient safety programs

    Electrician, UCN-Operations

    Job Purpose/Summary 

    Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost, Administration, the incumbent will be responsible for the management of electrical supply and distribution, switchgear and control systems involving maintenance, technical inspection, acceptance testing, handover and third-party service supervision, spares requirement assessment, pre- purchase technical appraisal and annual equipment replacement plan.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities 

    • Preparation and updating of Electrical drawings during ongoing remodeling and renovations, access to autocad.
    • Coordination with BMS (Building Management System), BIM (Building Information Management), Solar heating and Security Teams to ensure optimal functionality of all systems.
    • Provide technical support for electrical systems and equipment throughout the Aga Khan University as assigned including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
    • Document control- ensure all documentation pertaining to equipment, systems, maintenance schedules, tests and results, are available and according to department policy.
    • Provide specific advisory/ attendance to consultants and procurement teams on new applicable trends and compatibility of systems within AKU.
    • Promptly respond to system/ equipment breakdown Maintenance ( BDM) request from user Departments as per policy.
    • Liaison between AKU and service/ Maintenance contractors/ teams.
    • Timely completion of Preventive Maintenance (PPM) for electrical system/equipment.
    • Liaison with user departments for maintenance activities and report to supervisor on issues arising.
    • Participate in electrical quality assurance and control audits.
    • Coordinate and /or participate in requests for special projects, such as new systems/equipment acquisition purchase planning, development of bid specifications, etc.
    • Develop with electrical supervisor Preventative Maintenance schedules and guidelines.
    • Develop systems/equipment safety and device-specific in-service education to other technicians and equipment users as necessary.
    • Perform incident investigation and system/equipment performance analysis as required.
    • Develop or review emergency and safety plans related to use and operations of electrical system/ equipment.

    Relevant Experience and Qualifications 

    • O-Level certificate mean grade of C or equivalent.
    • At least a Diploma in electrical engineering from a recognized institution.
    • Must be computer literate MS packages ( word, excel, power point, projects, Autocad, outlook, Internet).
    • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
    • Excellent communication with interpersonal skills, high integrity, reliable, very good analytical and organizational skills.
    • Ability to overcome performance barriers.
    • Willingness to learn and teach.

    Supervisor: Surgical Consulting Clinics

    Responsibilities:

    • Is responsible for day-to-day smooth running of the unit which includes staffing, appropriate scheduling of patients and coordination of patient care.
    • Leads the Consulting Clinic team in formulation, implementation and evaluation of annual goals and objectives in accordance with program and nursing division strategic objectives.
    • Develops collaborative ways of working that link all contributors in the multidisciplinary team in patient care issues.
    • Ensures staff coverage for safe and effective patient care.
    • In collaboration with others, leads the Consulting Clinic team in development, implementation and review of policies, procedures, protocols, Clinical pathways, and care guidelines in line with identified standards.
    • In collaboration with the Nursing Manager and Program Administrator participates in the recruitment, selection, and training of the Nursing team.
    • Undertakes performance reviews of staff in Consulting Clinics and develops action plans to ensure individual staff growth.
    • Fosters pleasant working environment through motivational leadership style to enhance job satisfaction among staff in medical consulting Clinic including physicians.
    • Puts in place measures to control unit costs, stocks, and bad debts.
    • Participates in the Budget process and ensures efficient utilization of resources.
    • Provides effective supervision of the nursing staff and utilizes learning opportunities for their development.
    • Continuously initiates innovative and evidence-based strategies to
    • improve patient care.
    • Participates in establishment of standards of care with unit staff, and monitors delivery of care according to established standards.
    • In collaboration with the Manager Nursing Education Services and Program Administrator, fosters development of nurses to maximum potential through providing educational/training opportunities and exposure to appropriate learning forums.
    • Ensures a system is in place to monitor nurses' clinical knowledge, skills, and competencies.
    • Develops and maintains effective networks both Internal and external to improve nursing practice.
    • Takes lead in unit based Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects, Clinical Care Program Certification (CCPC), and ensure participation by nurses.
    • Guides nursing staff in initiation of and participation in unit-based as well as hospital wide nursinc research prolects.
    • Is responsible for staff, patient, and family satisfaction with services in consulting clinics.
    • Responds to client complaints in a timely manner by solving problems or informing the relevant persons.
    • Ensures program-based client satisfaction surveys is carried out, monitors trends of incidences/complaints and takes appropriate action.

     Requirements:

    • Registered Nurse with current licensure with the Nursing Council of Kenya
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BScN)
    • Certification in BLS
    • Proficient in Basic computer skills
    • Minimum of 5 years clinical nursing experience in Medical-Surgical unit in an acute care hospital.
    • 2 - 3 years in leadership position in Medical surgical units
    • Demonstrates current knowledge in general nursing.
    • Demonstrates leadership and management skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to teach and cascade information at all levels
    • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
