    Portfolio Manager

    JOB PURPOSE

    Responsible for managing investment portfolios for high-net-worth clients, and other internal funds, ensuring optimal asset allocation and performance in line with investment objective and risk tolerance. They work closely with the Head of Wealth Management/CIO and other team members to deliver comprehensive and customized investment solutions. The role will involve continuous market analysis, portfolio monitoring, and client communication to achieve superior investment outcomes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    Investment Strategy Development:

    • Develop and implement investment strategies tailored to clients’ financial objectives and risk profiles.
    • Conduct a thorough analysis of market trends, economic data, and investment opportunities to inform portfolio decisions.
    • Maintain a deep understanding of various asset classes, including equities, fixed income, real estate, and alternative investments.

    Portfolio Management:

    • Manage and oversee investment portfolios, ensuring they are diversified and aligned with the agreed-upon strategy.
    • Monitor portfolio performance, rebalance as necessary, and make adjustments to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
    • Utilize financial modelling and analysis tools to project potential returns and risks for different investment scenarios.

    Client Communication and Reporting:

    • Provide regular updates to clients on portfolio performance, market conditions, and strategic changes.
    • Prepare detailed investment reports and presentations for client meetings.
    • Address client inquiries and concerns promptly, maintaining a high level of client satisfaction and trust.

    Research and Analysis:

    • Conduct in-depth research on investment opportunities, market trends, and economic developments.
    • Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices to ensure compliance and optimal portfolio management.
    • Collaborate with research analysts and other experts to gather insights and enhance investment decisions.

    Collaboration and Team Support:

    • Work closely with wealth managers, financial advisors, and other team members to develop integrated financial solutions for clients.
    • Participate in internal meetings to discuss investment strategies, market outlook, and client cases.
    • Contribute to the development of the wealth management division’s strategic initiatives and goals.

    DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Market Monitoring and Research:

    • Continuously monitor financial markets, economic indicators, and global events that may impact client portfolios. Conduct in-depth research on investment opportunities and potential risks to stay informed and make data-driven decisions.

    Portfolio Analysis and Rebalancing:

    • Analyze the performance of client portfolios, ensuring they are aligned with investment strategies and risk tolerance. Perform regular rebalancing of portfolios to maintain the desired asset allocation and optimize returns.

    Client Communication and Reporting:

    •  Prepare and deliver detailed reports on portfolio performance, market conditions, and strategic changes to clients. Communicate regularly with clients to address their concerns, provide updates, and ensure they understand the rationale behind investment decisions.

    Investment Strategy Development:

    • Collaborate with the wealth management team to develop and refine investment strategies tailored to individual client goals. Conduct scenario analysis and financial modelling to evaluate potential outcomes and adjust strategies as necessary.

    Team Collaboration and Meetings:

    • Participate in daily team meetings to discuss market trends, investment opportunities, and client cases. Work closely with wealth managers, financial advisors, and research analysts to integrate insights and support the overall wealth management objectives.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Must have a Business related or equivalent Degree from a recognized institution. 
    • Must have CFA, CPA, CISA, CCMS, ICIFA, ACCA or part CFA certification or equivalent
    • Possession of a Masters Degree in Finance, Strategic planning or Business will be an added advantage
    • 4 or more years’ experience in a Portfolio Management
    • Knowledge of operations of the Capital Markets Authority, Nairobi Security Exchange and Central Depository Settlement Corporation
    • Have knowledge of the regulatory environment and have a thorough understanding of the Capital Markets products and services

    Research Manager

    JOB PURPOSE

    Reporting to the Research Analyst, the job holder will carry out the research function within KCB Investment Bank Limited. The Research Analyst will ensure that the research reports of the Company are accurate and complete, and that every research report is an accurate reflection of the transaction(s) it represents. The position provides intelligence and present insight in a way that both internal and external customers can understand. The candidate will work closely with the Dealers team to develop trading ideas and ensure that clients receive sound financial advice

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Act as a consultant to the Dealers by understanding the financial markets and providing them with actionable research findings of key market trends and opportunities
    • Summarize market research results and present findings to both internal and external for trading insights 
    • Ensure the integrity of data gathering, the correct interpretation of market research findings
    • Keep up-to-date on industry and sector trends and research methodologies.
    • Produce industry/role-specific research as necessary
    • Conduct strategic analysis of market, market segment and regional/country trends
    • Review the forecast methodology, construct and maintain forecasting models
    • Analysing and synthesizing financial and operating information about companies and sectors in order to gain insights and develop opportunities for clients
    • Build detailed financial models in support of capital markets investment instruments
    • Perform valuation analysis using various methodologies including DCF and market multiples
    • Originate capital markets research reports in support of client investment ideas
    • Undertake detailed economic, sectorial and company research & analysis in support of capital markets products
    • Monitor Securities market performance and interpret financial reports as necessary 
    • Keep up-to-date on industry and sector trends and research methodologies.
    • Conduct strategic analysis of market, market segment and regional/country trends
    • Analyzing and synthesizing financial and operating information about companies and sectors in order to gain insights and develop opportunities for clients
    • Build detailed financial models in support of capital markets investment instruments
    • Originate capital markets research reports in support of client investment ideas and produce industry/role-specific research as necessary
    • Any other duty as may be assigned by Head of Brokerage on ad hoc basis.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Must have a business related degree from an institution recognized by Commission for Higher Education.
    • Must have a professional qualification in CFA / ACCA / CPA (K) or MBA is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Financial Services Industry; 2 years’ of which must have been in conducting research.
    • Have 2 years’ management level experience.
    • Appreciation of Research methodologies
    • Team player with demonstrated work ethics; consistently demonstrates a high level of professionalism.
    • Effective prioritization skills to meet a complex set of business demands and demonstrate delivery against multiple objectives.
    • Assertive, self-motivated with desire to succeed in a fast-paced financial services environment.

    Chief Data Officer

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Be the voice of data— champion of data as a strategic business asset and driver of revenue at the executive level. Act as the chief advocate and evangelist of data-based decision making in the top leadership team and at the business unit management level
    • Measure and manage data risk—Develop capabilities to measure and predict risk, manage data risk through the effective data governance structures.
    • Influence corporate strategy—Enable better analytics for decision-making, help refine corporate strategy using insight gained from effective analysis of data. Develop and implement strategic partnerships in the business, technology and academic field.
    • Provide  stewardship—Identify data ownership and accountability across the organization, champion and implement data management strategies and standards, institutionalize data quality management. Advise the business leadership team on analytics value opportunities on an ongoing basis and translate business problems into specific analytics and technology enabled solutions.
    • Improve the top and bottom line—Increase revenue through effective governance and use of data, lower the cost of quality and cost of compliance, improve productivity through access and availability of data.
    • Translate complex analytics outcomes into actionable insights & operational decisions and develop standards & processes for analytics solution development and implementation across all critical functions of the Group.
    • Establish the Data governance organization: A small, centralized organization that reports to the CDO; the core team is supplemented with specialists from business and IT functions as needed. Drive data governance framework adoption and institutionalize the data management capabilities. Shape the development programs of business leaders to increase the level of data management including analytical literacy across the Group.
    • Define data and metadata standards: The CDO has a direct report team of data SMEs that can analyze, define and refine standards for each data entity. Lead the transformation of the Group towards an analytically enabled organization.
    • Stay abreast of developments at the intersection of data science, technology and business relevant to the Group and drive business innovation through analytics.
    • Lead, build and develop a motivated an EDM core team; promote top talent in EDM and be the interface of EDM, technology and business
    • Shape the technology strategy together with the technology management team in particular pertaining to the data and analytics technology stack, critical workflows and channel infrastructure.

    MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    The preferred candidate will meet the following minimum criteria:

    • A holder of a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics/Business/Statistics/
      Economics/Computer Science or closely related field from a recognized institution.
    • Proficiency in data governance frameworks , tools and languages e.g. DAMA DMBOK, COBIT, or ISO/IEC 38500, SQL, R, Python, Supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
    • At least eight year's relevant work experience at management level, including experience in the following specific areas:
      • Data Governance
      • Data science
      • Data quality management
      • Data remediation programs
      • Master data and metadata management
      • SQL
      • Project Management
      • Leading large teams and managing matrix reporting resources
    • Have excellent persuasive communication skills and astute business acumen
