    Research Administrator

    Vacancy: CGHR/350/02/23

    Job description

    The successful candidate will work with the Senior Research Scientist to coordinate the distribution, removal and records management of the spatial repellent products during the twoyear field study in Busia County. Each Research Administrator will supervise a team of 3 intervention specialists and 20 community health volunteers. 

    The specific roles of this individual shall be:

    • Prepare a removal and distribution plan of study materials for approximately 1000 structures per month
    • Supervise and monitor 20 community health volunteers to ensure timely placement and replacement of SR products.
    • Ensure the study material is available in the study site as and when required
    • Ensure the study materials are mounted as required by routinely and randomly conducting spot checks
    • Collecting information of the community’s perceptions of the SR product and communicating these to the Senior Research Scientist in a timely fashion
    • Supervise the consenting of households to receive the study product
    • Assist in coding and preliminary data analysis
    • Participate in planning meetings and scheduled conference calls with the entomology manager and study partners
    • Perform any other related duties that may be assigned by supervisor from time to time.

    Essential requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in biology, Biotechnology, and related courses
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a busy laboratory or community-based research setting.
    • Demonstrated experience in implementation and supervision of community-based research activities.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Kiswahili
    • High proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Must reside in Busia County

    Intern - Administration

    Qualifications Required:

    • Diploma in Business Administration, Business Management, Accounting or related field from an institution recognized in Kenya
    • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
    • Proficiency in computer applications

    In addition, the applicants must:

    • Be a Kenyan youth below 30 years of age
    • Should have graduated and obtained the relevant final diploma certificate
    • Provide a Certificate of good conduct
    • Appointment is for a period of one (1) year non-renewable and is subject to availability of funds.
    • A stipend will be paid but successful candidates will cater for their own transport, accommodation, and upkeep during this period.
    • Interns will be expected to take up a personal accident cover and medical Insurance cover.
    • KEMRI/the project WILL NOT offer employment after the completion of internship.
