    Locum Nurses

     Job Description/Requirements

    No of Positions: 5

    One month Contract from January, 2021

    Key Responsibilities

    • •Manage and coordinate the Academy's health services program based on requirements established by the Academy’s policies, procedures, and protocols, and by the Ministry of Health regulations.
    • Provide basic medical services and First Aid to students and organize referrals to specialists when necessary.
    • Carry out regular surveillance checks on the students to ensure their continued health e.g. regular testing and annual medical check-up.
    • Maintain clinic equipment and assess and ensure the supply of consumable supplies on an ongoing basis.
    • Organizing for students’ treatment at the approved hospital by the Academy.
    • Administer and monitor student medication as prescribed by themselves, the Clinician, or doctor.
    • Issue drugs and care and monitor adherence to students with long-term medical conditions
    • Order, Record, Store drugs in line with the Academy Policy
    • Assess and evaluate the health and developmental status of students for the purpose of identifying physical disorders and other factors affecting the learning process.
    • Design health maintenance plans for the purpose of addressing student’s health needs
    • Keep student medical records
    • Refer students requiring further medical attention as per the Academy guidelines.
    • Respond to medical emergency situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns.
    • Report students with a reportable contagious disease to the line manager and school administration where necessary.
    • Liaise with the local health authorities to keep abreast of any updates on regulatory changes and public health alerts.
    • Accompany students to medical appointments off-campus and follow up and visiting of students admitted at the partner hospital(s).
    • Offer customized nursing care plans for special cases that need special care e.g. pregnancy, newly diagnosed chronic illnesses, mental illnesses.
    • Giving health talks and raising awareness on relevant health issues affecting students
    • Offering first aid to staff
    • Organizing medical examination
    • Liaise with parents/guardians regarding medical issues affecting their children and being part of case management teams with other relevant academy staff and external stakeholders on cases e.g. pertaining to abuse etc.
    • Drafting of necessary policies affecting the health and well-being of students.
    • Reporting any issues pertaining to Child Safeguarding and Protection.

    Person’s Specifications

    • Bachelor degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing from a recognized medical training institution (KMTC)
    • Up to date registration with the nursing council
    • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience in inventory management to ensure that there are no stock-outs.

    Dining Room Servers

    No of Positions: 6

    One month contract from January, 2021

     Job Description/Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serving food and beverages at the offices, dining room and events.
    • Keeping the dining room clean and tidy, including dispensing equipment, cutlery, crockery and glassware
    • Arranging for and setting up tables; cutlery, crockery, condiments and napkins
    • Assisting in serving of food at the service point during meal times.
    • Providing events and banquet service to functions hosted within the academy.
    • Setting up serving points for beverages for students, staff and guests.
    • Transporting food and beverages to service points in a timely manner.
    • Taking an active role in the periodic stock taking which involves doing a Physical count of tools and equipment used within the department.
    • Clearing the dirty utensils from the service area to the wash up area.
    • Ensure Segregation of waste at the clearance points
    • Dining Room server is expected to be flexible, from time to time he/she may be added task in line with their role by their direct manager

    Person’s Specifications

    • Certificate in Food and Beverage service or restaurant management from a recognized institution.
    • At least 3 years’ experience serving in a comparable institution.
    • Demonstrated experience in dining and conference room set-up and service.

    Clerk of Works

     Job Description/Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Have detailed knowledge of the site
    • Attend the works during operations which if carried out defectively would result in work in which the deficiency would not be immediately obvious.
    • Record and transmit to the Head of Facilities / Project Manager and Architect the same day by telephone or by visiting the Architect’s office, all his own queries, Contractor’s queries and requests, and questions needing urgent decisions.
    • Maintain a “Site Instruction Book” for the Architect and other Consultants to record instructions given on-site during site visits. (Architect or other Consultants to retain one copy).
    • Examine the Contractor’s progress schedule, check and record the progress of the work, and note any delay with reasons.
    • Anticipate work to be put in hand and ensure that all details and information are available in good time.
    • As far as possible in advance or construction Examine all drawings and documents to check for discrepancies between Architect’s, other Consultants’ and Sub-Contractors drawings and details and report to  the Project Manager and Architect any problems that he considers may arise.
    • Settle minor problems of details arising on-site to ensure that work proceeds in an effective, workmanlike and economical manner, provided the Project Manager and Architect are kept informed.
    • Check setting out and levels, check the position, dimensions and plumb of all formwork before concrete is poured and of all structural members, walling
    • Check the conditions, size, bending, fixing, spacing, cover, and positioning of all reinforcing steel and the condition, size, fabricating, setting out, connection, and erection of all structural steel and ensure that they conform with the Specification, Drawings, and bending schedules. Supervise the taking of site samples and delivery to the testing authority for testing for quality and
    • Check whether any rebates, mortices, holes, fixings, fittings of similar items are required to be built into the structure before pouring concrete and check sizes and positions of these items in the
    • Supervise the making of concrete test cubes, marking, dating, and curing and ensure that the contractor dispatched to the laboratory for testing at the correct time and to maintain an up to date record of all results and ensure that the Architect receives a
    • Where approved samples are available compare work carried out against samples and ensure that it is consistent with the
    • Ensure that the required standards of quality and accuracy of work and materials are maintained, and to refer work which in his opinion is inferior for inspection and decision by the Design team, taking all necessary samples or specimens of work
    • Attend monthly site meetings, site visits, site inspections, and contractor coordination meetings.
    • Confirm in writing with copies to the Architect or Consultant concerned instructions given to the Contractor and request confirmatory written Architect’s Instructions from the
    • Endorse the Contractor’s day worksheets in respect of time and materials
    • To ensure that the Contractor carries out all instructions, particularly those in regard to rejection of work and removal of rejected materials from the
    • Check that only the latest issue of any drawing is being used on-site and that earlier copies are marked “SUPERSEDED” and PUT AWAY. Assist in the preparation of draft record
    • Maintain contact with representatives of Local Authorities, Statutory Undertakings and the
    • Try to anticipate and foresee difficulties on-site and advise the Head of Facilities in good time so that the necessary instructions can be
    • Take minutes of site meetings and any other meetings as directed by the Head of Facilities.
    • Prepare daily reports as directed by the Head of Facilities.
    • Collate As-Built drawings for handover to the Client at the end of the Project.

    Person’s Specifications

    • Minimum Diploma in Civil and Structural Engineering or any other engineering related course.
    • Over 6 years’ experience in a busy construction site.

    Pastry Cook

     Job Description/Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Responsible for production of quality and tasty pastries , breads, and desserts for in house consumption and for sale.
    • Preparation of Cakes for special occasions.
    • Assist in implementation of the academy menus.
    • Ensure that food is requested according to the number of students and staff in the academy and that     there is no wastage of food.
    • Responsible for maintaining the highest standard of hygiene in food handling and in the work area in     line with the public health regulations on food safety.
    • Taking care of catering equipment and utensils by taking regular inventories and reporting any loss or breakage of items.
    • Ensure that the kitchen is locked and keys kept safely upon closure.
    • Ensure that waste is segregated during food preparation.

    Person’s Specifications

    • Diploma of equivalent in food preparation from a recognized institution
    • At least 3 years’ experience as a cook in a comparable institution.

    Laundry and Housekeeping Assistant

     Job Description/Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensuring that all academy linen, uniforms and any other articles are processed in right procedures and in good cleaning agents.
    • Ensuring that all uniformed staff gets their uniforms timely, clean, pressed and free from odor.
    • Establishing effective and efficient procedure /rota for collection of dirty linen as well as delivering clean and pressed linen to students’ residences
    • Ensuring that internal and external clients at the laundry are served courteously and that their laundry is ready in agreed date and time
    • Ensuring that all the laundry equipment and linen are maintained in clean, safe and efficient condition
    • Cleaning and replenishing staff duty houses as well as academy guests houses.
    • Reporting on any maintenance issue spotted in duty/guest houses.
    • Taking care of machines and equipment entrusted to him or her

    Person’s Specifications

    • Diploma /Certificate in Laundry and housekeeping operations or its equivalent from a reputable institution.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Past experience working in a busy laundry preferably a learning institution is an added advantage.

    Dining Hall Cleaner

     Job Description/Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Responsible for cleaning of kitchen, dining room, aluminum doors, Hand washing sinks, Glass windows and the pathways.
    • Responsible for clearing of kitchen refuse, cleaning of dustbins and cleaning drainage ducts in the kitchen.
    • Responsible for refilling of hand paper towels, tissues and soap dispensers.
    • Cleaning of the Washrooms.

    • At least 1 year’ experience working in a comparable institution.
    • Demonstrated experience in handling the chemicals used in cleaning and sanitation at the catering operation.
    • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate courteously.
