    Program Assistant, Early Childhood Development (Kisumu)

    PATH is currently recruiting a Program Assistant to support the Early Childhood Development (ECD), MRITE, ppRTS (WHO) and TyVAC projects in day-to-day program administration work.

    This position is based in Kisumu

    Specific responsibilities include the following:

    • Providing meeting planning and logistics support- activities may include scheduling internal and external meetings, seminars, workshops, and other events as necessary, as well as coordinating event-related logistics, maintaining database of project contacts, and drafting meeting notes and coordinating review, distribution, and filing.
    • Drafting project reports and communications materials- in consultation with relevant staff, plan and coordinate the production and distribution of monthly activity reports and other communications materials as requested.
    • Ensure timely reimbursements of participants taking part in project activities
    • Facilitate hotel bookings, transportation, logistics and other travel needs for project staff
    • Maintain an up-to-date budget tracker for project activities
    • Maintain an inventory of all project assets and consumables
    • Monitor project schedules and work plans

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Project Administration or any other related field.
    • At least five years of experience in program administration; provision of logistical support for program activities, inventory management, monitoring project schedules and work plans and ensuring compliance to policies.
    • Demonstrated experience in documenting activities through reports and photos.
    • Demonstrated ability for workshops/trainings preparation.

    Driver, ECD Project (Kisumu)

    PATH is currently recruiting a driver to support the Early Childhood Development (ECD) project in day-to-day project activities

    Key Responsibilities: Drive/ facilitate project staff, consultants, and visitors as needed, run office errands, deliver packages/mails, maintain office vehicle in clean and serviceable condition, follow up with vehicle maintenance regulations and licenses and make recommendations to the administrative officer for necessary actions .

    This position is based in Kisumu

    Specific duties and responsibilities:

    • Maintain a complete daily vehicle movement log sheet.
    • Prepare and submit to the admin officer monthly vehicle running and maintenance report.
    • Assist in project workshops/training/meetings materials preparations and deliveries.
    • Drive project staff, consultants and visitors as needed.
    • Maintain office vehicle in clean and serviceable condition.
    • Support distribution of project supplies/commodities to designated facilities.
    • Run office errands, collect mail and deliver packages/mails as may be directed from time to time by the administration officer or his/her delegate.
    • Assist with routing internal mails, photocopying, filing and making/receiving calls.
    • Follow up with vehicle maintenance regulations and licenses and make recommendations to the Administrative Officer for necessary actions.

    Required Experience

    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Fluency in spoken and written English.
    • Ability and willingness to work extra hours when required.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with a pleasant and accommodating approach
    • A minimum of 4 years’ experience of professional driving preferable in an NGO set up.
    • A minimum of KCSE certificate holder or equivalent.
    • Vast Knowledge of Kenyan roads and terrain, specifically in Western Kenya.

    Program Officer, Early Childhood Development (Siaya)

    PATH has recently received a 2 -year award from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation to further work with local partners in the Smart Start Siaya consortium to consolidate executive leadership and strengthen the enabling environment for NCfECD in Siaya county and to scale up Nurturing Care for ECD (NCfECD) into additional geographies within the Lake Region Economic Block (LREB). In this new award, PATH will work closely with KMET, Siaya county and LREB in efforts to establish the foundations for strong NCfECD governance, coordination, and investment in the region

    PATH is seeking a Program Officer to support transition ownership of NCfECD assets to subnational government and local partners; sustain and expand government leadership, coordination, and investment for NCfECD programs. This position is based in Siaya

     Specific responsibilities include the following:

    • Work with smart start Siaya consortium to continue supporting the Governor and First lady to champion the ECD agenda.
    • Provide technical assistance to the office of the Governor to design and execute solutions that can be implemented by different stakeholders across and within sectors to improve child health, nutrition, and development outcomes.
    • Work with the office of the Governor to convene relevant stakeholders and identify opportunities to plan and budget for integrated NCfECD.
    • Work with the department of health to lead and further institutionalize integration of NCfECD into maternal, neonatal and child health services; support operationalization of cost-effective capacity building strategies including OJTs, CMEs and ward-based peer mentorship.
    • Support the operationalization of Siaya as ‘a living university’ in integrated NCfECD service delivery.
    • Working closely with Siaya County, coordinate formative assessments and rapid assessment cycles to strengthen the effectiveness of interventions and systems to scale up NCfECD interventions.
    • Support dissemination of all relevant policy documents including Integrated ECD Policy, National NCfECD Strategy among others and facilitate discussion on domestication at Siaya county level.
    • Support routine acquisition of county, sub-county, and facility level data from various sources for analysis, recording, and dissemination.
    • Document project activities by ensuring timely data collection, transmission, and management and by keeping updated project reports.
    • Support any dedicated research activities and participate in dissemination forums.
    • Provide other technical inputs to the project as needed.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline—project management, health, nutrition, social studies, ECD, etc.—or an equivalent of education and work experience.
    • At least three years of experience working within government health system preferable supporting integration of ECD into maternal neonatal and child health services
    • Experience working on issues related to maternal and child health, nutrition, and/or children’s development is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to work within government structures and coordinate different stakeholders
    • Demonstrated ability to work within the health system—with health managers at County, Sub County levels, health facilities and communities
    • Sound technical knowledge of issues related to maternal and child health and nutrition and ECD
    • Strong capacity building abilities; excellent facilitation, mentorship, and coordination skills
    • Field oriented and comfortable with team approach to programming

    Specific responsibilities include the following:

    • Working closely with KMET, coordinate and conduct capacity building sessions through sensitization, training, and mentorship of key government officers within LREB- focusing on policy makers and technical teams.
    • Working closely with KMET and LREB secretariat, coordinate advocacy forums for improved government leadership, coordination, and investment in ECD.
    • Working closely with LREB secretariat, map out existing child health and development policies and support dissemination and domestication of ECD related polices and guidelines.
    • Coordinate sensitization of key government officials including members of county executive committees on the Science of ECD.
    • Engage key government officers in NCfECD planning, strategizing on how to integrate missing NCfECD components into their existing workstreams, and identifying funding sources.
    • Working closely with KMET, support integration of NCfECD into adolescent and Young Women programs in select LREB counties.
    • Support the establishment of Multi sectorial teams (MST) for coordination of NCfECD activities in specific LREB counties.
    • Provide technical assistance to 6 LREB counties to develop roadmaps for NCfECD implementation.
    • Support dissemination of all relevant policy documents including Integrated ECD Policy, National NCfECD Strategy among others and facilitate discussion on domestication in LREB counties.
    • Document project activities by ensuring timely data collection, transmission, and management and by keeping updated project reports.
    • Support routine acquisition of county and sub-county level data from various sources for analysis, recording, and dissemination.
    • Support any dedicated research activities—e.g., protocol development, data review and analysis.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategy for synthesizing and disseminating key results, programmatic lessons learned, methodologies developed and other research outputs of the program.
    • Provide other technical inputs to the project as needed.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline—project management, health, nutrition, social studies, ECD, etc.—or an equivalent of education and work experience.
