    Tyre Fitter

    Reporting the Tyre Management the Tyre Fitter is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of tyres on a fleet of heavy commercial trucks. This role ensures that all tyres are fitted correctly, meet safety standards, and contribute to the efficient operation of the fleet.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Tyre Installation: Fit new tyres to trucks, ensuring proper alignment and balance.
    • Maintenance and Repair: Inspect and repair tyres, including patching punctures and replacing worn or damaged tyres.
    • Tyre Rotation: Perform regular tyre rotations to ensure even wear and extend tyre life.
    • Pressure Checks: Monitor and adjust tyre pressure to maintain optimal performance and safety.
    • Emergency Response: Respond to tyre-related emergencies, providing onsite repairs or replacements as needed.
    • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate records of tyre inventory and usage.
    • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all tyre-related activities comply with safety standards and regulations.
    • Customer Service: Provide excellent service to drivers and other fleet personnel, addressing any tyre related concerns promptly.

    Job Qualifications

    • KCSE certificate or equivalent; technical training in automotive maintenance is a plus.
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in tyre fitting or automotive maintenance.
    • Proficiency in using tyre fitting tools and equipment, strong attention to detail, and good problem-solving skills.
    • Understanding of tyre maintenance, repair techniques, and safety standards for heavy commercial vehicles.
    • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy tyres and working in various weather conditions.

    Yard Supervisor

    Job Purpose

    Reporting to the Yard Manager, the Tyre Management Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and management of tyres for a fleet of heavy commercial trucks. This role ensures that all tyres are in optimal condition, compliant with safety standards, and contributes to the efficient operation of the fleet.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Supervise Tyre Maintenance: Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of tyres to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
    • Schedule and Coordinate: Plan and schedule regular tyre inspections, rotations, and replacements.
    • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of tyre inventory, including stock levels, usage, and orders. Communicate the same with TMS accountant and Yard Manager on daily basis on the same.
    • Supplies Management: Liaise with TMS accountant for all requirements to ensure timely delivery to avoid shortfall in the yard of supplies.
    • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all tyre related activities comply with local and federal regulations and safety standards.
    • Training and Development: Train and mentor maintenance staff on best practices for tyre management and safety procedures.
    • Data Analysis: Monitor and analyses tyre performance data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
    • Emergency Response: Manage emergency tyre repairs and replacements to minimize downtime.
    • Budget Management: Create monthly requirements of new tyres, retreads and consumables and assist in managing the budget for tyre maintenance and procurement.

    Job Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent, additional technical training or certification in automotive maintenance is a plus.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in tyre management or fleet maintenance, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in using maintenance management software.
    • In-depth understanding of tyre maintenance, repair techniques, and safety standards for heavy commercial vehicles.
    • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy tyres and working in various weather conditions.
