    Cath Lab Nurse Manager

    Job Objective/Purpose

    The Cath lab Nurse Manager will oversee and coordinate all clinical activities within the cardiac catheterization laboratory (Cath Lab) and the Coronary Care Unit (CCU).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and supervise the daily operations of the cardiac catheterization laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to established protocols and standards.
    • Coordinate and schedule procedures, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and meeting patient care needs.
    • Collaborate with physicians, interventional cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals to plan, organize, and implement Cath lab procedures.
    • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of Cath lab nurses, including performance evaluations, staff development, and scheduling.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including maintaining accurate documentation, adherence to infection control protocols, and adherence to safety guidelines.
    • Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing evidence-based practices to enhance patient care.
    • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives, ensuring safe and effective patient care delivery.
    • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in Cath lab technology, techniques, and procedures, and provide education and training to the Cath lab staff.

    Person Specification

    • Graduate of an accredited nursing school as a Registered Nurse with a valid license with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
    • Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration preferred.
    • Updated BLS, ACLS/ATLS certificate
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory, with progressive leadership responsibilities and demonstrated expertise in cardiac catheterization procedures, including diagnostic and interventional techniques.

    Duty Manager - Nursing

    Job Description

    Key Responsibilities
    Operational Oversight:

    • Coordinate and supervise all operational activities during night shifts, including nursing, administrative, and support staff.
    • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements throughout the night.
    • Ensure adherence to quality standards.
    • Address any issues or concerns promptly and effectively, escalating as necessary to senior management.
    • Investigate accidents/untoward incidences at the night and inform the relevant manager.
    • Participate in development and implementation of polices for improvement of patient care and safety.
    • Ensure equipment uptime of >99% for all clinical and non-clinical equipment.
    • Ensure service uptime of >99% for all clinical and non-clinical services.
    • Ensure product availability as per service standards.

    Patient Care:

    • Monitor patient care activities to ensure quality standards are met and patient safety is maintained.

    Emergency Response:

    Staff Management:

    • Provide leadership, guidance and managerial support to shift staff, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.

    • Evaluate workload and staffing levels and where required allocate or re-assign resources to meet demand
    • Assist in staff development through bedside teaching, skill checks, mentoring and appraisal

    Communication and Collaboration:

    • Facilitate communication between night shift staff, other departments, and senior management to ensure seamless coordination of activities.
    • Collaborate with senior managers, other duty managers and department heads to address cross-functional challenges and promote organizational objectives. 

    Person Specification

    • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a Diploma in Nursing with a Higher National Diploma in a nursing specialization.
    • Postgraduate qualification in healthcare management or related will be an added advantage.
    • A valid nursing council of Kenya license. 
    • 5 years of continuous clinical experience. 
    • Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience.

    Unit Manager-Maternity

    Job Objective/Purpose

    Planning, Organizing, and coordinating all the activities in the unit, to ensure that quality standards of care is adhered to, by all medical staff in AHC facilities, in line with the hospital’s policies and procedures

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supervising and ensuring delivery of a professional and high standard of nursing care within the section while leading a team of nurses and patient attendants in delivering individual and team targets.
    • Review specific patients’ investigations, analyze, interpret, troubleshoot, and initiate immediate intervention. 
    • Ensure primary nurse engagement with doctors and other care providers regarding patients’ plan of care and care solutions with emphasis on a team-based problem-solving approach to provide unified approach to patient care.
    • Review and ensure that nursing care plans are scientific, evidence based and address the priority needs of the patients.
    • Ensuring proper and timely documentation, maintaining proper records, confidentiality, and always handing over between shifts. 
    • Maintaining the inventory of all assets in the section and ensuring minimal stock of consumables and drugs is maintained in the section sub stores.
    • Daily check on all equipment in the section to ensure that all are always in good working condition through compliance with the PPM and reporting promptly the faulty equipment.
    • Participate in development and ensure implementation of organizational and departmental policies and procedures (SOPs) and quality improvement plans in the section including infection prevention.
    • Ensuring all planned sectional activities are geared towards meeting growth and quality objectives.
    • Tracking of daily CQIs Preparing routine reports as per the departmental KPIs and as required. 
    • Preparing monthly work schedules (ROTA) and supervising section operations and staff.
    • Ensure That all staff supervised in the department achieve the set 8 hours of training  monthly, on emergency procedures for all section staff and students and ensure daily allocation to the emergency Rota.
    • Providing leadership ensuring, employee development, employee engagement and   performance management to deliver departmental objectives and goals.
    • Safeguarding patient's belongings such as when undergoing surgery or during delivery.
    • Control the departmental budget within the agreed parameters by ensuring efficient utilization of resources are used to maximum effect and take charge on stock control.
    • Participate in business development and activities and follow up on customer feedback
    • Ensure safe and clean environment for staff patient/clients and visitors compliance with policies and protocols including health and safety, risk management and critical incident reporting.

    • Graduate of an accredited nursing school as a Registered Nurse with a valid license with the Nursing Council of Kenya.

    • Minimum of 5 years work experience in a healthcare setting involving maternity  patients;  of which 2 years must be in a managerial position in the maternity unit.
    • Must be a seasoned manager with Obstetrics experience in Outpatient and Inpatient.

    Cath Lab Radiographer

    Job Objective/Purpose

    The Cath lab Radiographer will be responsible for performing diagnostic and interventional imaging.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, including angiography, fluoroscopy, and other specialized imaging techniques.
    • Operate and maintain radiographic equipment, ensuring proper functioning and safety standards are met.
    • Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals during Cath lab procedures, providing real-time imaging guidance and ensuring optimal image quality.
    • Position patients correctly and provide appropriate radiation protection measures to minimize radiation exposure.
    • Prepare and administer contrast media as required for imaging procedures, ensuring proper dosage and patient safety.
    • Review and evaluate images for quality, ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation of findings.
    • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and maintain imaging protocols, ensuring consistency and adherence to best practices.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including imaging reports, procedure documentation, and patient demographics.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, infection control protocols, and radiation safety guidelines.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including data collection, performance monitoring, and implementation of process improvements.

    Person Specification

    • Bachelor's Degree in Radiology.
    • Master’s degree in Radiology is preferred.
    • Higher Diploma Radiology Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography
    • Experience with electrophysiology procedures and imaging techniques. 
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Cath lab
