    Field Technical & Compliance Manager

    Job Description

    FIELD TECHNICAL AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER

    Job Function:

    The position is responsible for overseeing and management of the avocado out growers and company own farm operations. Play a leading role in the implementation of other farmer development programs. Ensure the maintenance of organic avocado and passion fruits production with product organic status integrity, quality and food safety assurance as well as compliance to GlobalGap, Grass, SMETA and organic standards.

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Overall supervision of agronomists, farm supervisors and other field workers by providing a proper leadership, guidance and control in order to have an effective field operation.
    • The employee will have a leading role in implementing the company’s ongoing and proposed projects amongst company’s farmer’s schemes e.g permaculture, living wages and Living Incomes, agroforestry.
    • Ensure a successful adoption of our organic production model in line with the up to date contractual agreements with the smallholder farmers.
    • Increase fruit production and quality by amongst other intervention measures ensure proper adoption of agreed farming practices amongst the growers, e.g pruning, composting, pests and diseases management
    • Equip producers with knowledge, awareness on organic farming principles, better avocado orchard management and certifications for organicGlobalGap, Fairtrade and SMETA, through farmer trainings and other relevant instruments.
    • Play a leading role in ensuring organic products integrity, risk identification that impact on organic status and management thereof.
    • Oversee in accordance to the set SOP and harvesting checklist ensure proper harvesting, on farm product handling, risk verification during harvesting and correct up to date purchases documentation.
    • Play a leading role in the planning for internal and external organic audits.
    • In liaison with the field manager and team for building a sustainable farmers base with organic status to produce 1.7 million kilos annually by first quarter of 2024.
    • Oversee packhouse procurement needs for raw materials as well as standards compliance.
    • Responsible for the management of the company’s farm commercial activities.
    • Oversee the company’s passion fruit growing and other proposed projects.
    • Prepare reports and up to date accurate records that pertain to the fieldwork.
    • Communicate effectively about the company’s farmer development model, plans etc to farmers, project stakeholders and the wider public in order to advance its vision and mission.
    • Responsible for ensuring the company meets statutory compliances e.g licenses
    • You are obliged to conduct yourself in the best manner and any Company’s trade secrets and proprietary information should be kept confidentially.
    • Effectively represent the company in meetings and forums that further the interest of avocado and other selected commodity value chains and the company.
    • Proper control and maintenance of company’s field inventories, equipment and assets e.g vehicles bikes etc.
    • The employee’s conduct and expectations full information are contained in the ‘Employees Hand book’ as well as based on the company’s Ethical policies.
    • Ensure proper custody and maintenance of company’s property availed to you especially motorbikes.

    Desired Qualifications & Skills

    • A minimum degree in BSC crops, agriculture or horticulture
    • Minimum 5 years in a busy agribusiness set-up.
    • Demonstrable agronomic skills in fruits orchard management especially avocados and passion fruits.
    • Abilities to train farmers, peers and disseminate good agricultural practices and adoption thereof with emphasize to environmental sound practice.
    • Conversant or working experience with either GlobalGap/Grasp or EU organic standards in busy farming environment.
    • Experience working with smallholder farmers in commercial oriented schemes or a large-scale farm enterprise is necessary.
    • Goal achievement orientation and self-starter.
    • Passion for social economic impact amongst poor producers.
    • A valid driving license.
    • The job will entail intensive travel in the growing sites.

    Sales Representative -Mt. Kenya

    JOB PURPOSE:

    Effectively manage all Order to Cash processes to maximize customer service levels from available stock at optimal distribution cost.

    Main Duties & Responsibilities

    • Achieving of Sales Volume/Value Target through distribution by focusing on Sell-In and Sell-Out. Managing Days Sales outstanding as per the Order to cash process.
    • Liaising with RSM on effective coverage system for the Priority Channels within the Territory of Jurisdiction.
    • Ensuring quality of 4P’s in the Priority Channels i.e. Distribution of Must sell SKU’s in each Priority Channel, Retail Pricing Objectives, Placement and Merchandising Targets are met. Executing daily monitory of customer’s performance against defined KPIs (Sales out, Inventory level, Order placement on time etc.
    • Executing the Channel Category plans at the Point of Purchase (POP) within the Sales Cycle Plan. Supporting the development of Field Sales and Channel Category Plans by providing feedback on the Cycle Plan activities execution.
    • Managing Coolers, Freezers and other Asset Management in the territory of jurisdiction. Ensure contracts are signed with customers who have the company’s Assets and maintain Asset Register and ensure repairs of the said assets reflect what is on the ground.
    • Providing quality and o-time information on Demand Forecast by Customer, Computerized Coverage Reports, Value Chain pricing.
    • Coaching, motivating and developing Distributors’ or direct sales force.

    Minimum Qualifications      

    • University degree in Commerce, Economics or Business Administration (with bias in Marketing) or an equivalent qualification.
    • Preferred 2 years working experience in a Fast Moving Consumer Goods environment.
    • Demonstrate detailed understanding of the core sales capabilities of order generation, delivery, merchandising and account development.

    Quality Assurance Coordinator

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Departmental and companywide

    • To identify all departmental and companywide processes, procedures and policies;
    • To identify process, procedure and policy gaps and report to top management for development prioritization of the same;
    • To document all departmental and companywide processes, procedures and policies and update them continuously;
    • To conduct audits (announced and unannounced) per department and companywide on strict compliance with the existing processes, procedures and policies;
    • To compose handbooks containing all responsibilities, obligations, activities and authorizations of all managers and directors and keep them updated continuously;
    • To establish and collect all process metrics of the organization, analyse and report on performance.
    • Compose and continuously update the ISO9001:2015 Quality Manual;

    • Implementation and maintenance of key standards and guidelines;

    Factory Manager -Packaging

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Day-to-day Factory operational management decisions.
    2. Review daily updates in factory/ Production meetings and offer necessary direction to the team on the issues related to production / quality / maintenance / follow up with procurement department.
    3. For proper planning and scheduling preventive, predictive, backdown maintenance of the plant and machinery. Ensuring to have all necessary and important spare parts in the stores, timely placement of the spares order to avoid major issues.

    11. Interacting with the marketing team and helping them in resolving the customer complaints if any.
    12. Improving Factory operational efficiency, cost reduction, bring in innovations.
    13. Setting targets for Factory section heads and helping them in achieving.
    14. Sending timely MIS reports to CEO/MD office.
    15. Responsible for ensuring compliances across all regulatory requirements, as laid down by the Government of Uganda, across various aspects of the Factory Act, environmental clearances, taxation, trademark regulations, labor laws, and other statutory standards. Expertise includes managing bank credit and related compliances.
    16. Ensures a safe working environment throughout the organization.

     Desired Skills & Qualifications:

    • Graduate/postgraduate-level degree in any Engineering related field
    • A minimum of 20 years practical operational experience in running a similar factory out of which 5 years should be as a Factory manager.
    • Ability to manage the operations of an existing company incorporating ideas and ways to improve the functionality of the operation.
    • Excellent communication and management skills, computer skills, presentable, attention to detail, hard-working with excellent organizational skills and follow-through.

    Maintenance Manager

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    General and Task Management

    • Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on each shift and small projects to the right skills in the team, planning and managing effective works.
    • Adhere to daily and weekly checks to ensure smooth operation of site
    • Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, ensure full preventative maintenance is carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and lead the team to deliver effectively.
    • Schedule both internal and external work(s) maximizing planned down time and reducing unplanned downtime.
    • Manage the team to ensure machine availability, reactively managing dysfunctional machinery with proper shift management.
    • Optimize equipment according to standard procedure, enhancing performance and product quality, ensuring the achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
    • Ensure routine calibration and maintenance requirements of a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems are undertaken.
    • Ensure that designated buildings, plant and facilities are fit for purpose and to provide proactive support/solutions when required.
    • Develop clear accountability for maintenance material spend combined with a strategy to manage expenditure.
    • Manage systems and equipment data storage and maintain high levels of standards and accuracy.
    • Manage the process of the introduction of new machinery, plant and equipment from drawing up the specification, to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties.
    • Manage the process of disposal of obsolete machinery, plant and equipment from gaining agreement to write off to physically removing it and its safe and lawful disposal.
    • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions / action required for continuous improvement.
    • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems that arise.
    • Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources where required.
    • Ensure KPIs are met by working to the overall plan, including management of, and reporting.
    • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
    • Manage contractors on site to ensure they meet legal and company requirements

    People Management

    • Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
    • Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
    • Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required.

    • Input and hold responsibility for maintenance budgets
    • Prepare the annual Maintenance budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards. Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects Relationship Management
    • Work as part of the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
    • Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the maintenance strategy
    • Communicate with stakeholders the impact of market change and potential effects on engineering design and development. Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimizing cost
    • Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers, suppliers and other service providers.
    • Ensure an effective interface with other departmental staff is maintained

    • 5+ years’ experience in a busy Welding and Fabrication environment.
    • Previous work experience in a Similar/ related role.
    • Knowledge of maintenance of Tool Room Machineries which includes but not limited to Lathe Machine, Milling Machine, Grinding Machine, Drilling Machine, Shaper Machine, Broaching Machine, Saw Machine, Shearing Machine, Hobbing Machine, Drill Press and CNC Hydraulic Machines.
    • Previous work experience with ISO, KAIZEN, Lean and Six Sigma is an added advantage.
    • Computer Knowledge is a requirement.
    • Proven track record of plus 5 years as Quality Assurance Coordinator and Certified Trained Auditor for ISO9001
    • Fluency in English language will be required, as well as an awareness of different cultures and a diplomatic approach to any associated conflicts
