    Programme Staff - Refugee and Humanitarian Affairs

    Key Roles & Responsibility

    • Responsible for implementing part of Denmark's new Inclusive Refugee Response Programme in Turkana. This includes handling dialogue with partners, administration, budget/financial and performance management, overseeing monitoring & evaluation (M&E) of several engagement.
    • Build and actively use a relevant network to take forward the Embassy's agenda on refugees and humanitarian affairs more broadly, including within government, civil society, development partners, think tanks and research institutions, private sector.
    • Liaise with other colleagues within the Embassy and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs more broadly to ensure strong linkages and synergies between related programmes and policy efforts on refugees and humanitarian affairs.
    • Close cooperation and coordination with key stakeholders, including the National Government, the Department for Refugee Services (DRS), the County Government of Turkana, UNHCR, development partners, CSO partners and the private sector.
    • Identify opportunities for communication and public diplomacy on refugees and humanitarian affairs.
    • Participate in coordination meetings and other relevant coordination mechanisms.
    • Plan and conduct periodic field trips to various locations in Kenya.

    Programme Staff Justice, Peace and Security

    Key Roles & Responsibility

    • Manage Denmarks support to resilience, peace and justice in Kenya as outlined in the Strategic Framework. This includes handling all engagement with partners, other Embassy departments, administration, budget/financial and performance management, overseeing monitoring & evaluation (M&E) as pertains various support to peace and justice.

    • At least 3 years of relevant work experience with focus on development programme/project management and good knowledge of results-based management, administration, financial management, monitoring and evaluation.

    Nutrition & Gender Officer - Busia

    Job Purpose:

    The purpose of this position is to facilitate implementation of the activities of the Integrating Cassava into affordable and drought tolerant food systems (Kenya) project. The Project addresses the organizations strategic theme of Sustainable Food Systems whose long-term outcome seek to achieve Equitable and inclusive food systems to support availability, access, and consumption of safe nutritious food. The project goal is to Contribute to Increased market availability of safe, good quality and affordable cassava flour to help compensate for the long-term reduction in maize production in Kenya. The project will cover Busia, Homabay, Kisumu, and Migori counties in Kenya. The projects objective is to increase incomes and reduce poverty for 8,000 cassava smallholder farmers by promoting efficient and well-functioning seed systems and markets. The Nutrition & Gender Officer will therefore work closely with the Programme Advisor for Nutrition and Gender to support the Programme Manager in the day-to-day implementation of the nutrition and gender components of the projects by keeping track of all output implementation activities and project data/information, and assist in collection and analysis of data. This is a challenging and important role for the organization as it is the first contact with the project beneficiaries.

    Key Responsibilities.

    • Support the Programme Manager in the implementation of Nutrition and Gender components in the project area in liaison with the Nutrition and Gender Advisor.
    • Support activity planning and implementation together with the project partners and team in consultations with Programme Manager and Nutrition and Gender Advisor.
    • Work closely with the Advisor Nutrition and Gender to plan, coordinate and conduct field assessments and on-going M &E work.
    • Support and follow up with partners to ensure the Nutrition and Gender activities are implemented in accordance with the implementation strategy and workplan.
    • When required, support field assessments and research activities including data collection and compilation of case studies specific to nutrition, Gender and WASH aspects for the project.

    Minimum Qualifications.

    • Degree in Food Nutrition and dietetics or related fields.
    • Training and working knowledge of Gender as far as community development practice is concerned is key for this position.

    Programme Manager - Kisumu

    Job Purpose:

    The Programme Manager is responsible for the successful implementation of the Integrating Cassava into affordable and drought tolerant food systems (Kenya) project by ensuring project outcomes are achieved and exceeded as per Self Help Africas contractual agreement with Irish Aid and to the quality standards of the client. A key function of this role will be representing the client and managing effective partnerships with key stakeholders across Government departments, private sector, implementing partners and representational groups at national and county levels.

    Key Responsibilities.

    Project Management

    1. The Project manager is responsible for the overall delivery of the project on behalf of the organization.
    2. Le Lead programme fundraising, identifying new areas of need and potential areas for project development and donor funding in Kenya ad and manage all aspects of the project cycle: planning, implementation, quality, reporting, accountability, monitoring and evaluation.
    3. Develop annual, quarterly and monthly plans and budgets for the project and monitor allocation of resources, anticipating changing requirements that may impact work delivery,
    4. Ensure all donor reporting requirements are adhered to including financial reporting in collaboration with the project accountant.
    5. Lead co-ordination and communication across the various stakeholders including Project implementation teams, government agencies and private sector to ensure coherent and consistent delivery of the project objectives,
    6. Co-ordinate and provide technical input for the implementation of the project including in the preparation of strategies, training materials, guides and manuals and ensure effective integration of core technical areas of Gender and Enterprise Development.
    7. Represent the organization at government, donor, NGO and other relevant events in the field in close coordination with the Senior Programmes Manager & Private Sector Lead and ensure that the project collaborates and networks with stakeholders as appropriate,
    8. Work with the communications team to develop a project communication and visibility plan and facilitate its implementation,
    9. Ensure effective coordination and collaboration mechanisms are in place between the organization and all other partners.

    Operational and Financial Management

    • Manage and periodically review the projects budget in close collaboration with the Senior Programmes Manager and Private Sector Lead and Head of Finance,
    • Ensure compliance by the organization and its partners with contract requirements in planning, financial management, procurement, branding, monitoring and reporting, and facilitate further training where necessary.
    • Act as the focal point with the organizations country office and HQ to ensure all programming, financial and administrative matters related to the project comply with donor and organization policies and procedures, and are transparently, expediently and effectively managed in line with established processes, rules and regulations,
    • Monitor external context and carry out adjustments to project plans where necessary,
    • In liaison with the Senior Programme Manager & Private Sector Lead ensure all organizations safety and security guidelines are followed and that all safety or security incidents (fires, accidents, theft, etc.) are recorded and reported,
    • Ensure efficient use and management of project resources including transport.
    •  

    Monitoring, Reposting and Results Communication

    • In conjunction with the M&E Expert, facilitate monitoring and documentation of learning by ensuring that effective mechanisms are in place to monitor activities and outputs and assessments for project quality and impact and ensure project implementation is on time, target and budget.
    • Ensure monitoring plan is in place and undertake project monitoring visits from time to time,
    • Compile periodic project reports as required by the donor and the organization.
    • Check partner technical and financial reports and ensure that they are compliant with set policies and procedures.

    Performance Management

    • Set clear direction and expectations for the project and enable project Partners to interpret competing priorities (Annual project key performance indicators).
    • Manage project staff and provide periodic performance reviews and objective setting.
    • Work closely with project partners to manage performance issues effectively to avoid adverse impact on the project, team morale and performance.
    • In liaison with SPM&PSL promote a positive team culture that respects diversity and deals with barriers to inclusion.

    Representation

    • In coordination with the SPM&PSL represent the organization at national, regional and international levels, to donors, local and national government authorities, other NGOs, and any other parties under this project.
    • In coordination with the SPM&PSL, lead on national and regional policy engagements.
    • Ensure that relationships and formal agreements with government and partners are maintained and updated as appropriate.
    • Ensure proper project documentation and sharing with partners.
    • Any other task assigned by the SPM&PSL.

    Minimum Qualifications.

    • At least 10 years experience in the implementation of private sector development approaches and development programs design, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning.
    • Experience managing multi-year donor funded projects.
    • Knowledge and experience in multiple sectors such as agricultural systems and livelihoods; market systems development; Enterprise development; Business Development Services (BDS) approaches and value addition.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the private sector development framework and approaches in Kenyan/East Africa Community Context.
    • Strong project management skills and understanding of project cycle management approaches and tools.
    • Experience in engaging and networking with the development partners and multi stakeholders including the government departments and agencies.

    Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

    Key Responsibilities.

    Effective planning and implementation

    1. Assist in the review of the project log frame matrix, particularly in the areas of performance indicators and their measurement.
    2. Assist in the development and/or finalization of the project Work.
    3. Plan and keep it updated in accordance with project activities, targets, and timeframes as relevant.
    4. Support in the development of the overall framework, for project M&E, for example mid-term project review, impact assessment, end term evaluation and research with relevant data collection systems.
    5. Develop and maintain project beneficiary database and ensure the project focuses on the right beneficiary as intended.
    6. Ensure timely and effective implementation of all project interventions as well as the successful achievement of proposed outcomes and intended impacts.
    7. Lead the project towards data driven management to ensure that it focuses on the achievable results for effective and efficient use of resources.
    8. Maintain a Master Project file for all project data, reports, photographs, correspondences, donor reports and documentaries for future reference.

    Quality Assurance- Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation.

    1. Ensure collection of data on a regular basis to measure Key Responsibilities achievement against the performance indicators including seasonal and annual data.
    2. Review the quality of existing data in the project subject areas, the methods of collecting it, and the degree to which it will provide good baseline statistics for impact evaluation. This includes performing data quality checks to ensure trainings are delivered to the said groups to support Best Practice Adoption .
    3. Monitor project interventions in strict adherence to Irish Aid, SHA, Kenya government regulations and other agreed standards.
    4. Review the management information systems and make recommendations on any required changes, support and resources.
    5. Support the Programme Manager in compiling quarterly, annual, development partner reporting and other reports required by the donor with input from programme team ensuring timely submission of the same indicating progress of each targeted groups
    6. In liaison with the Communication Officer, ensure documentation of case studies and impact stories is done and that accurate project data is utilized for press releases, social media, and website among others.
    7. Ensure that the project achieves acceptable financial and operational audit results by implementing activities in accordance with established norm and policies.
    8. Support the PM in monitoring Project implementation by ensuring daily questionnaires are submitted as per the requirements by all field staff to enable review of daily/weekly dashboards.
    9. Identify and provide training and mentoring to partners and staff to ensure the implementation of strong M&E systems

    Other Duties

    1. Attending development partner meetings, capture any relevant resolutions and ensure they are implemented and used within the project.
    2. Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications.

    • Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Project Planning & Management, Monitoring & Evaluation or other related discipline from a recognized university.

    7. Facilitate capacity development of processing units on production of safe and nutritious casava products.
    8. Facilitate the strengthening of processing units capacity for increased produce aggregation, processing, and market linkages.
    9. Support TruTrade in the training of processing units on global, regional, and national quality standards.
    10. Support TruTrade to train processing units on flour blending, nutrition, and hygiene and sanitation.
    11. Conduct monitoring visits to the Processing Units to ensure they are commercialized
    12. Facilitate digitized dissemination of market intelligence.
    13. Sensitize and disseminate information to seed companies, seed entrepreneurs, processing units, and offtakers using digital tools.
    14. Coordinate feedback sharing workshops for stakeholders

    Field Officer- Siaya

    Key Responsibilities.

    1. Facilitate capacity development of seed companies and seed entrepreneurs to produce quality cassava seed.
    2. Coordinate training of seed companies and seed entrepreneurs on Varietal Selection, Cassava Seed Production Protocol, Good Agricultural Practices, and Climate Smart Agriculture.
    3. Coordinate training of seed companies and seed entrepreneurs on food safety, nutrition, and dietary diversity.
    4. Coordinate distribution of breeder/certified seed to seed companies and seed entrepreneurs by KALRO.
    5. Coordinate distribution of certified seed to seed entrepreneurs by seed companies.
    6. Coordinate inspection of seed companies and seed entrepreneurs farms by KEPHIS.
    7. Facilitate capacity development of processing units on production of safe and nutritious casava products.
    8. Facilitate the strengthening of processing units capacity for increased produce aggregation, processing, and market linkages.
    9. Support TruTrade in the training of processing units on global, regional, and national quality standards.
    10. Support TruTrade to train processing units on flour blending, nutrition, and hygiene and sanitation.
    11. Conduct monitoring visits to the Processing Units to ensure they are commercialized
    12. Facilitate digitized dissemination of market intelligence.
    13. Sensitize and disseminate information to seed companies, seed entrepreneurs, processing units, and offtakers using digital tools.
    14. Coordinate feedback sharing workshops for stakeholders
    15. Facilitate linkages between seed companies, seed entrepreneurs, processing units and offtakers.
    16. Facilitate the establishment/strengthening of county level Root and Tuber Crops fora.
    17. Participate in county level stakeholder meetings.
    18. Contribute to county level discussions on policy formulation through thematic working groups to create an enabling environment for stakeholders.
    19. Facilitate knowledge and information sharing for stakeholders at county level.
    20. Support learning, monitoring, reporting and visibility.
    21. Ensure effective planning, budgeting, and implementation of project activities in the target county.
    22. Work with the M&E officer to ensure accuracy of the log frame data and ensure the log frame is up to date.
    23. Conduct frequent follow up visits to seed companies, seed entrepreneurs, and processing units.
    24. Work with project team and M&E officer to ensure submission of at least 2 case studies every month.
    25. Participate in Result Based Monitoring through data collection, entry, and cleaning.
    26. Support the M&E officer on project database management, including keeping track of all project documents and manuals developed during the project lifecycle.
    27. Prepare activity, monthly, and quarterly reports on the project implementation process.
    28. Support the Programme Manager on monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and ensuring reports are fully reviewed, and quality and deadlines are met.
    29. Any other duties as assigned by the Programme Manager

    Minimum Qualifications.

    • Good understanding of project cycle management approaches, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building to seed companies, seed entrepreneurs, and processing units.
    • Good report writing skills.
    • At least 2 years experience with Agriculture/Livelihood.
    • Program implementation, working with seed entrepreneurs and processing units.
    • Skills in training/facilitation of development processes, including organization and mobilization of communities and networking among different development partners such as community-based organizations, and government officers.
    • Proficiency in computer packages especially with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and other related packages.
    • At least Degree in Agricultural Extension, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or related discipline.
    • 2 years experience working in a rural setting on agribusiness, food security and livelihoods, and community development projects.
    • Motorcycle Riding License

    E-commerce Assistant Manager- Nairobi

    Job Purpose:

    Our client is a leading specialty retailer in the ceramic floor & wall tile market that seeks to hire an E-commerce Assistant Manager who will work closely with the webstore team and retail store staff to ensure that customers are getting their online deliveries on time and accurate information on products inquired about through our eCommerce website, email, or phone.

    It will be also your responsibility to follow up on cold leads and missed opportunities by offering a better online service and ease of mind. You will also brief the customer so that they have a full understanding that they are buying the right product and suitable for the area the wish to use the product.     • A minimum 2 years experience in retail or an online sales environment required.
    • Demonstrated ability to be a team player, able to work under pressure and multi-task efficiently.
    • Working knowledge of a sales POS system would be an added advantage but not essential
    • Knowledge of everyday computer applications and common Microsoft programs as well as simple computer trouble shooting and installation.
    • Knowledge of using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is essential.
