    Business Manager

    Job Role Description

    The role holder will be as an advisor to the MD on strategic initiatives, performance improvement of the organization, and assisting the MD in achieving business results. In addition, provide support to the MD for the elements of strategic planning & implementation as well as business addressing challenges within the company.

    Key Roles And Responsibilities

    • Provides ongoing support to the MD on general business development issues, informing the MD of system-wide matters needing attention to enable the MD to focus on more strategic challenges and better optimize the use of time.
    • Responsible for leading & coordinating all operational tasks within the MD’s office and ensuring the efficient running of the MD’s office.
    • Coordinates, manage and maintains effective working relationships with the stakeholders ensuring that their goals are delivered effectively and efficiently. Ensures that the stakeholders’ expectations are always met and exceeded.
    • Communicates and coordinates internal and external information from the MD’s office to the Leadership team and other partners.
    • Work with leadership team to provide feedback to the team for updated content, work plans and managing deadlines for assigned tasks.
    • Supports the business in the strategic projects rollout and ensures tracking of progress, using information integrated from varied systems and sources.
    • Prepares agenda, researches and documents information for meetings involving issues and projects deemed necessary by the MD; proactively ensures successful execution of above.

    Qualifications And Education Required

    • A Bachelor's degree, or MBA would be an added advantage.
    • Strong Leadership skills, with the ability to work harmoniously with people from all backgrounds and at various levels in the organization.
    • Comfortable with technology, including Microsoft Excel, Forms, Teams.
    • Strong attention to details and highly organized.
    • Open minded and inquisitive, excited to try new ideas.
    • Positive attitude, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
    • Fluent in English & Kiswahili.

    Preferred Experience

    • Have 3 years of work experience in a fast-paced environment.

    Freight Forwarding Clerk

     

    Role Summary

    To be a shipper's agent arranging transport services and preparing documentation and also Act as a transport specialist advising shipper on most cost efficient and best means of transport. To work closely with suppliers and customers to ensure any problems, damages or anomalies are corrected. This will involve recording data appropriate to the task including accounting records.

    Duties And Responsibilities.

    • Coordinating freight shipments using computer programs that keep track of details such as weight, volume, and destination location
    • Coordinating the shipping of goods by sea, truck, rail, or air, as well as arranging for customs clearance procedures when required
    • Maintaining records of incoming and outgoing shipments including dates, contents, and destinations
    • Keeping track of route information and verifying that the carrier used is properly licensed.
    • Maintaining constant communication with customers, clients, suppliers and statutory authorities.
    • Responsible for inventory control/checking as well as the preparation of documentation such as work orders, shipping orders and Bills of Lading.
    • Understanding the best shipping methods for materials, knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rate.
    • Calculating charges, storage space and demurrage charges.
    • Maintaining constant communication with customers, clients, suppliers and statutory authorities

    Knowledge Skills And Experience

    Education

    • Diploma in Clearing & Forwarding or equivalent

    Experience

    • Experience in declaration/documentation and online processing
    • Experience in customs clearance
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position

    Receiving Manager

    The role holder is also responsible for ensuring that the receiving activities are carried out as per the required standards and adhere to health, safety, quality, and hygiene standards.

    Roles and responsibilities

    Receiving Operations

    • Liaise with freight forwarders, Port and Customs Authorities to promptly clear imported merchandise
    • Ensure accurate documentation and verification of quantity, quality, type, and weight of received goods and ensure the delivery notes are accurate in accordance with the physical stock received
    • Ensure that staff accessing receiving area follow the store receiving policies
    • Oversee the control of the returned goods and waste
    • Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to ensure that related equipment is in good condition and is properly maintained
    • Ensure the receiving area is correctly maintained and organized
    • Ensure control of the warehouse entrance, including validation of suppliers entering the warehouse
    • Ensure the upkeep of a recording process for all goods received in a timely manner for reporting and tracking
    • Ensure that all transactions are captured daily in the relevant system
    • Receiving Procedures, Controls, and Measures
    • Implement and improve control mechanisms to reduce the possibility of fraud attempts
    • Ensure control measures and company procedures are strictly adhered to during receiving operations
    • Adhere to all health and safety rules and regulations
    • Report suspicious behavior in order to avoid possible fraud activities and initiate an immediate investigation
    • Control the merchandise flow in receiving area according to the Business Cycle procedures

    Human Capital Responsibilities

    • Assist in the implementation of the performance management process by setting objectives, monitoring performance, and providing constructive feedback and provide inputs to senior management
    • Provide mentorship for the purpose of developing a continuous talent pipeline for key roles
    • Provide inputs on training needs and coordinate with the HC department to ensure the facilitation of training requirements
    • Develop and implement on the job-training for the team
    • Provide inputs for the development of the annual manpower plan

    Qualifications And Skills Required.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or any relevant discipline
    • 5+ years of relevant experience in warehousing and logistics

    • High attention to detail
