This is a newly established role created to support increased demand in screen-printed products. The Screen Printing Technical Operator will be responsible for operating screen printing machines to print on plastic jars based on provided artwork. Key responsibilities include machine setup, ink preparation, alignment, print quality assurance, and routine maintenance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production Operations:

• Operate assigned screen printing machines and ensure consistent, high-quality output.
• Mix inks accurately to match color specifications.
• Align screens and materials for precise image placement.
• Monitor and troubleshoot issues such as misalignment, ink smudging, or machine malfunctions.
• Meet daily machine output targets and manage material flow to minimize waste.
• Conduct routine quality checks and ensure proper product packaging.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance to carry out proper line clearance.

Planning:

• Ensure timely collection of materials from stores to avoid production delays.
• Coordinate flaming, printing, drying, and packaging processes efficiently.

Maintenance:

• Perform regular machine cleaning and maintenance.
• Monitor equipment for abnormalities and report issues to technicians.
• Maintain proper records using work order forms.

Health & Safety:

• Maintain cleanliness of the working area and participate in factory cleaning schedules.
• Adhere strictly to all communicated safety procedures and standards.

KEY CHALLENGES:

External:

• Delays from suppliers of screens and inks.
• Inconsistent quality of supplied screens.

Internal:

• Failure to meet production targets.
• Low operational speed.
• Poor communication and job quality.
• Inadequate operational skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum KCSE grade C-.
• 1–2 years of experience in screen printing operations, especially with plastic products.
• Ability to learn quickly and good machine-handling aptitude.
• Advantageous to have a certificate/diploma in printing or mechanical engineering.
• Familiarity with automatic and manual screen printing; knowledge of offset/flexo printing is a plus.
• Understanding of manufacturing environments and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Tours and travel, sales and marketing or related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in corporate sales, corporate relations management, public relations, or a similar role in a tours and travel company.
• Understanding of tours and travel industry operations.
• Thorough understanding of marketing/ sales and negotiation techniques.
• Self-motivated and results driven attitude.
