    Associate Director/Head of Internal Control

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Inculcate a risk culture across the organization by embedding the Enterprise Risk Management Framework within the first line.
    • Implement policies impacting the internal control environment and develop procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards.
    • Oversee risk assessment processes to identify and mitigate potential risks.
    • Conduct self-assessments and review financial and operational processes for compliance.
    • Provide guidance and training on Enterprise Controls and best practices.
    • Collaborate with departments to ensure consistent application of Internal Control standards.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls.
    • Report to senior management and/or the Board on control matters and improvement recommendations.
    • Stay updated on changes in the business environment, regulations, and industry trends affecting risk exposure.
    • Lead investigations into misconduct or non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
    • Serve as a liaison with Internal Auditors and regulatory agencies.
    • Create and maintain an up-to-date process universe for business functions and units.
    • Develop and maintain a risk register, control library, KRIs, and KCIs.
    • Serve as a member of NFRC, FCRC, DNFRC, and other management committees.
    • Design and implement Quality Assurance programs.
    • Lead development and maintenance of business continuity and crisis management plans.
    • Manage and provide leadership to a team of business control managers.
    • Develop an operational resilience strategy.
    • changes in regulations and industry trends impacting risk exposure.

    Other Requirements

    • At least 10–12 years of experience in risk management, internal controls, compliance, or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership or managerial role.
    • Proven experience in developing and implementing risk management strategies and frameworks within a complex organization.
    • Strong ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across various business functions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
    • Extensive experience in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, as well as implementing audit findings and recommendations.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing and mentoring a team of risk and controls professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
    • Ability to assess and enhance operational resilience across the organization, ensuring preparedness for potential disruptions.
    • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to align risk management strategies with business objectives and integrate risk management into decision-making processes.
    • Proficiency in monitoring key risk indicators (KRIs) and establishing robust processes for tracking and reporting on risk exposures.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex risk concepts to senior management, the board of directors, and other stakeholders.
    • Solid understanding of business processes, financial operations, and how risk management contributes to overall organizational resilience and performance

    Managing Director, Bancassurance

    Job Responsibilities

    Financial

    • Develop and execute business strategies that ensure the sustainable growth of the Business from sales, operational and customer experience perspectives.
    • Drive and steer the Business financial performance i.e., Income statement/P&L and Balance Sheet.
    • Oversee all operations, service, administrative, finance and business development functions of the Business.
    • Enhance the breadth and depth of the product lines to achieve and sustain competitive positioning in the respective target markets and implement global standards within the region that the Group is operating in.
    • Build strong networks and foster positive, productive, and mutually beneficial business partnerships and relationships both internally and externally.
    • Cross-selling objectives – Cross-selling other bank products such as CASA, Assets etc.
    • Collaborate with Business owners in the commercial units in other Group operating entities to provide solutions for clients

    Business Processes, Risk Compliance, Audit

    • Manage regulatory relationships.
    • Ensure adherence in all operations as stipulated in the Insurance Act and related CBK Business guidelines.
    • Compliance with all audit requirements of the bank and insurance agency – Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) Guidelines, Prudential Guidelines, RCSA, Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and othe reporting requirements.
    • Maintain positive audit readiness by enhancing proactive self-risk assessment and mitigation

    Customer

    • Provide strategic direction to the quality of management of customers' sales and service experience.
    • Provide strategic direction to the management of sales channels, service delivery systems and relationship with business partners for insurance products and services within the Group

    People

    • Develop and implement a structure that supports the organisation’s strategy.
    • Drive recruitment and retention of a high performing team and talent management.
    • Provide a good working environment for the entire team.
    • Implement proper succession plans for key roles and career development
    • Instilling a learning culture within the company
    • Maintain compliance to regulatory requirements around people (leave, Fit & proper approvals, fairInstilling a learning culture within the company treatment etc.)
    • Drive high productivity, consistently in the team with related recognition and reward plans.

    Other Requirements

    • Masters and Undergraduate degree in a business-related field
    • Certificate of proficiency in insurance and/ or other insurance qualification
    • Diploma in Insurance Management and/or other insurance qualifications
    • Member of a professional insurance body i.e. Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Chartered Institute of Marketing etc.
    • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in sales and/or customer service operations for life and general insurance with at least 5 years’ demonstrable experience in a senior management or supervisory role in the financial sector – Banking and/or Insurance.
