    Executive Assistant

    Area: HR, Administration
    Direct supervisor: Head of Operations
    Contract: 1 year
    Start date: Immediately

    • In collaboration with the Head of Operation or Head of School manage the recruitment and selection processes for staff and volunteers for, and organise and oversee the hiring,  onboarding and exit procedures.
    • Organise and oversee all HR administration processes, such as staff documentation, employment contracts, staff and student profiles, appraisals, vacation applications, absences, internal database software, etc.
    • Support the HR manager and the Program Manager in ensuring Still I Rise International School Nairobi is legally compliant, and up to date, with local labor laws.
    • Strive to promote team-building and well-being, referring staff to psychological support resources, and promote work-life balance.
    • Develop, keep up to date and implement training and inductions for the team on the ground. Schedule additional training with the remote team depending on the needs.
    • Co-develop, oversee and ensure compliance with our internal HR policies in collaboration with the Head of Operations and Head of School.

    General administration

    • Manage student registration and enrollment processes by organising registration days,  overseeing and updating waiting lists, overseeing diversity balance, and organising registration and permission forms.
    • Manage the school database by registering and enrolling new students, and updating and overseeing schedules, timetables, student lists, and attendance.
    • Organizing and administering the Google Drive shared folders, and ensure all staff members have access to their relevant folders.
    • Support the Logistics Manager in accounting for the Programs expenses in compliance with the SIR Finance Policy. 
    • Enter all the expenses in the accounting system Quickbook for compliance.
    • Keep an accurate record of all financial transactions and perform financial audits wherever necessary.
    • Keep the bookkeeping of all the expenses.
    • Recommendation of expenses and budget control.  
    • Fill the monthly finance up date form with the monthly balance and bank statement and the funds request form.
    • Assist and support the Program Manager, Logistics Manager, Child Safeguarding & Protection Officer and the School Principal with general tasks  and take part in coordination meetings and daily decision making.
    • Support with facilitating and hosting meetings by i.e., minutes-taking, scheduling, etc.

    Essential skills

    • Degree in Business or Business related field.
    • Two years of proven administrative and/or HR experience.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills - outstanding and effective written and verbal communication, assertive, socially aware and geared towards problem solving.
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills, ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
    • High level of accountability over work, ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
    • Commitment and willingness to work in a challenging environment.
    • Passion, drive and dedication to our cause.
    • Excellent IT skills including use of MS Office, QuickBooks, Google Drive and Slack. 

    Desirable skills 

    Experience working in the education sector or in a school environment will be an added advantage.

    Sous Chef

    Department: Programs - Kitchen

    Area: General Logistics Support

    Direct Supervisor: Sous  Che

    The Sous-Chef will join the Logistic Support Team, and he will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver exceptional dining experiences to our students, staff, and guests. This position involves working in a team and in particular with the rest of Kitchen staff and the Logistic staff. The ideal candidate will possess a culinary background and a passion for creating authentic International Cuisines.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Collaborate with the Head Chef to plan menus that are not only delicious but also nutritious
    • Preparation of weekly, monthly and yearly ingredients and kitchen supplies lists and monitoring their consumption. 
    • Maintain the quality and consistency of food by conducting regular taste tests and inspections. Ensure that all meals meet health and safety regulations.
    • Work with the Head Chef to control food costs through portion control, waste reduction, and efficient use of ingredients.
    • Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards. Ensure that kitchen staff follow all sanitation procedures and guidelines.
    • Be flexible and creative in adapting menus to accommodate special dietary needs, cultural preferences, and seasonal ingredients.
    • Implement strategies to minimize food waste through portion control, recycling, and composting.
    • Maintain an organized and efficient kitchen environment, including equipment maintenance and cleanliness.
    • Promote sustainable practices in the kitchen, such as sourcing local and ethically produced ingredients and reducing the carbon footprint of food production.
    • Provide support to the head Chef with the Preparation and submission of daily and weekly Purchase Orders of all products and ingredient under contract with Suppliers.  
    • Provide support to the Head Chef to supervise and manage the delivery of supplies from the vendors.
    • Provide support to the Head Chef in the preparation of the lists of products and ingredients that need to be purchased by the Logistic. 
    • Ensure food safety and hygiene standards. Ensure that kitchen staff follow all sanitation procedures and guidelines.
    • Organize the workstation in the kitchen and ensure things are  kept  in the right place to avoid accidents.
    • Ensure the dining area is kept clean and well organized to fit the specified number of students.
    • Ensure food is served in the right portion for both students and staff.
    • Ensure all the utensils are kept clean and organized after meals.
    • Carry out general cleaning of the kitchen utensils and spaces to avoid dusts and stains.
    • Ensure that you adhere to the ministry of health regulations and have relevant certifications.
    •  Engage with the school community to gather feedback and suggestions for menu improvements. Attend meetings and events related to food service.

    QUALIFICATION  

    • Proven experience as a Sous-Chef or similar role, with a focus on different International cuisine.
    • Culinary diploma or equivalent certification preferred.
    • At Least two years of exceptional culinary skills and creativity
    • Excellent written and oral English
    • Academic or Professional Certificates
    • Completion of CRB/Background
    • Competent ICT skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
