    Director, Network Engagement - Africa (French & English)

    Position Summary:

    Teach For All is looking for a dynamic and strategic leader to support a diverse group of prospective partners across Francophone Africa.  As a Network Engagement Director, you will steward Teach For All’s engagement with the region’s partner CEOs and prospective CEOs, working to build and deepen relationships and collaborations across the region. You will serve as an overall strategic resource to these organizations, diagnosing their needs, and marshaling network resources to meet them. The right candidate will have a proven ability to work effectively across different country contexts and cultures, navigate ambiguity with ease, and will have experience making sound strategic decisions that drive impact in complex and changing environments. This individual is required to have deep familiarity living and working across diverse national contexts in the region, must be authorized to work within the region, and must speak native or business-fluent French and English. This position will report to the Head of Region, Africa.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Supporting current and prospective partners 80%:

    • Engage in day-to-day thought partnership with partners and prospective CEOs and their leadership teams to build capacity and enhance strategic clarity. Ensure the network’s resources are strategically leveraged to best meet co-diagnosed partner and prospective partner needs. 
    • Facilitate the co-creation of annual partnership plans that identify how the network can support accelerated impact locally as well as how each partner can contribute to the network’s collective impact. The specific partner organizations assigned to the Network Engagement Director’s portfolio will be determined based on a combination of factors including location, language skills and abilities, and background experience.
    • Build relationships and networks with key stakeholders by leveraging deep understanding of the diversity of the African landscape to attract high potential prospective partners in the region to foster expanded and diversified impact that grows the region’s reach.
    • Facilitate immersive experiences and peer-to-peer visits to network partners and events, ensuring collaboration and connection with the network community that furthers impact and fosters a strong network culture.

    Contribute to Africa Regional Strategy and Team Strength (20%)

    • Play a critical role in devising, executing, and monitoring the progress of the region’s strategy to ensure partner impact is maximized.
    • Contribute to broader impact by bringing a deep understanding of context and partner priorities that can inform regional decision making as well as the broader support strategy of the Teach For All organization
    • Participate in team meetings to help inform programmatic decisions that impact the design and implementation of engagement & support to current and prospective partners.
    • Act as a mentor to staff members who engage with the Africa region, helping shape an African team culture
    • Highlight and share best practices and resources from the region that can be used by Teach For All partner organizations in the larger network.

    Right Candidate for the role

    The right candidate is one who has a proven ability to be visionary, can build strong culture among stakeholders, influences results through others, builds strong relationships, demonstrates strong judgment, and makes strategic decisions that drive impact in complex and changing environments.  The right candidate is fully fluent in French & English has a proven record of having worked effectively across contexts and cultures, operates flexibly, and navigates ambiguity with ease.     Requirements

    • Minimum 8-10 years work experience, including at least 5 years of work experience in Africa. Experience working in multiple country contexts across the region is strongly preferred.
    • Native level fluency in French and English (written, spoken, reading) is required. Interviews are conducted in French and English. Candidates who are not able to converse fluidly and do not have experience conducting business in both languages are not eligible to apply.
    • Ability to deeply understand multiple local contexts quickly as well as demonstrate strong analytical ability, judgment, and flexibility in complex, ambiguous, and rapidly changing circumstances.
    • Ability to work effectively within an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and results-oriented culture by demonstrating strong prioritization and organizational skills and discipline, including a high volume of virtual engagement (i.e. video calls, social media, virtual collaboration tools)

    Senior Program Director - Africa

    Position Summary

    Teach For All is looking for a dynamic and experienced professional for the senior strategic role in Africa to lead the development of Teach For All’s growth in the Africa region. As Senior Program Director - Africa, you will play a key strategic role in supporting the Head of Region as she oversees Teach For All’s engagement with the region’s network partners and prospective partner organizations. This role involves building strong relationships within the Teach For All Global Organization. A big part of this role is working  strategically with/across teams such as Network Learning, Coaching and Consulting and Network Operations to drive engagement/support/priorities for impact.

    The Senior Program Director - Africa position provides an exceptional opportunity for an individual with superior leadership, analytical, interpersonal, and strategic skills to serve as a key contributor to our mission and help shape our work in the region. The right candidate is one who has a proven ability to deliver on strategy, build culture, influence results through others, build strong relationships, and make strategic decisions that drive impact.     Responsibilities

    Regional Strategy Development, Execution and Monitoring (35%)

    • Drive the process of the development of the regional strategy in consultation with the Head of Region
    • Support and thought partner with the Head of Region in establishing, evolving, and driving the execution of the regional team vision and priorities in alignment with Teach For All’s vision, values, core purpose and intended outcomes
    • In collaboration with the Head of Region, provide support and thought partnership to Network Engagement Directors to ensure high performance, leadership development, strong culture and effective allocation of financial and staff resources across the region to maximize regional impact
    • Oversee the development and implementation of systems and processes that will enable the region to have a big picture view of Africa regional needs, data, short term/long term plan of support and evidence of impact
    • Overseeing the design tools and processes for quarterly reflections that ensure the team is making progress against priorities and organizational outcomes 
    • Working with Network Engagement Directors, proactively identify and maximize opportunities to learn from and with network partners, other Teach For All global organization teams, and/or external experts
    • Oversee the development of the team budget

    Coordination with other regional and global teams (30%)

    • Lead on working  strategically with/across teams  such as Network Learning, Coaching and Consulting and Network Operations to drive engagement/support/priorities for impact
    • Ensure that there are effective systems and structures to communicate, collaborate, and access the tools needed for daily work across the regional team
    • In collaboration with the Regional Head, work with the the regional team, other regions and and global team to inform the culture, priorities and resource allocation of the global organization

    • Bring robust understanding of the Africa context, history and culture necessary to consider as we think about collective support
    • Develop a team learning agenda that deepens engagement and understanding of insights and priorities, strengthens team culture and collaboration, and addresses team development needs

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 8-10 years professional experience required
    • Experience working and/or living in the region required
    • Experience having managed a unit/team required
    • Experience of coaching senior leaders
    • Willingness and ability to reside and work (authorization) in region long-term required

    Events and Communications Coordinator, Network Learning

    Position Summary

    The Network Learning function advances knowledge and learning in the network to make progress toward our 25-year vision. We do this by learning alongside the various stakeholders in our global network, creating learning experiences, and enabling connections for constituents to advance their own learning.

    We are seeking an Events Coordinator with a focus in communications to support the planning and execution of the Teach For All annual Global Conference, as well as other virtual and in-person learning experiences so that our network can connect, learn, and collectively reimagine more equitable systems for children everywhere. Specifically, they will manage event  communications, logistics, website development, and attendee experience for the Global Conference and other events as necessary. 

    Outcomes

    Success as the Events Coordinator,  means contributing to the Network Learning function’s mandate to learn alongside network stakeholders, create learning experiences, and foster communities where the ideas and insights being surfaced are accessible, inclusive, actionable, and have impact in partner organizations, classrooms, and communities around the globe.

    Responsibilities

    The Events Coordinator works within the Learning Experiences team which is responsible for producing high quality virtual and in-person learning experiences and resources. This person may be assigned other responsibilities aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the Learning Experiences team than the ones highlighted below.

    Logistics and Events Management:

    Contribute to or independently own the project management and logistics of in-person and virtual events. Key responsibilities for this include:

    • Conference/event management, content programming, logistics, registration management, acting as venue and speaker liaison, budget coordination, supplier management, event administration, post-event reconciliation and analysis
    • Negotiate contracts for hotels, venues, and suppliers
    • Become an expert user and administrator of our online event tools including zoom, Jira, and other conference platforms
    • Create and track the conference budgets to ensure that costs are controlled
    • Project manage end-to-end delivery of events; organize regular communication with all involved parties to ensure the event planning timeline runs to schedule
    • Work collaboratively in multiple diverse, agile teams at any given time
    • Develop a strategy for and driving execution towards the goals of the project
    • Build inclusive and equitable environments
    • Deliver high-quality adult learning experiences (virtually and in-person)
    • Gather and incorporate internal staff and network partner feedback on the effectiveness of learning experiences
    • Report changes in staff and partner actions as a result of engaging with the learning experiences
    • Creating and executing high-quality communications priorities (i.e. copywriting, copyediting, branding, creating a communications schedule for events)
    • Creating equitable and inclusive systems and processes which are reflective of the needs and input of a range of stakeholders with diverse perspectives
    • Managing systems and processes while making adjustments based on user experience
    • Feedback from Network Learning colleagues and other network stakeholders about the effectiveness of the systems and processes

    Communications, Marketing, and Design 

    Contribute to and support the ongoing evolution of our communications strategy in alignment with conference and event goals. Key responsibilities for this include: 

    • Collaborate with the events planning team to develop internal and external communication using Teach For All marketing best practices
    • Collaborate with the Public Affairs Team to develop high quality communications and marketing materials
    • Mitigate any anticipated challenges with the marketing and communications strategy
    • Create and edit all copy in partnership with the Public Affairs team and other members of the conference planning team
    • Evaluate and report on cost and impact of communications efforts using qualitative and quantitative data
    • Manage language accessibility and inclusion efforts for the Global Conference and other events as needed

    Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

    Required

    • Experience managing in-person and virtual events
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Working knowledge of event-planning technology and web-based services
    • Strong experience in logistics and event management
    • Mastery of the English language in a professional setting
    • Demonstrated ability to create and execute communication strategies and promotion schedules
    • Expertise using communications platforms such as Constant Contact
    • Ability to build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders and external partners
    • Experience working collaboratively in an agile working environment
    • Experience of delivering complex projects with strict deadlines
    • Interest in and exposure to practices which promote inclusive learning environments
