    Senior Pricing Advisor

    The Purpose of the Role

    The Sr. Pricing Advisor is critical in providing leadership, advice, and support in the proposal budgeting process for business development efforts across the organization.  The role will conduct thorough review of RFPs/RFAs/Commercial Contracts, establish pricing data for proposals, develop proposal budgets and budget narratives in accordance with the requirements and donor compliance, prepare the cost volume and work with partners in relation to the budgeting.  The Sr. Budget Advisor will guide business development teams which includes technical, finance and country office staff through the budgeting process, making sure that the team members are educated on the design and structure of budgets and will coordinate with to work through strategic issues. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Leads all aspects of the cost and business proposal process for the identified complex, or resource intensive opportunities
    • Develops cost kick-off presentations and guides business development teams through the budgeting process, ensures team members are educated on client requirements and compliance, and coordinates with teams on strategic issues
    • Coordinate inputs into cost volumes for submission and best value. Collect and verify cost estimates, and work with technical teams to ensure cost proposals and technical proposals are aligned
    • Coordinate with the proposal team on strategic issues involving proposal budgets. Ensure that the proposal team is educated on donor requirements for the cost proposals
    • Ensure proposals comply with donor requirements and IRC’ organizational policies.
    • Review, edit and finalize explanatory budget narrative to accompany budget in cost proposal
    • Create and/or modify budget spreadsheet templates in accordance with donor requirements
    • Conduct internal budget reviews during proposal period; analyze cost recovery
    • Lead engagement with partners as part of the proposal process: developing budget templates, providing budget assumptions, negotiating budgets, reviewing budgets and notes ensuring final submissions confirm to client requirements
    • Negotiate budgets with primes
    • Ensure compliance with RFP/RFA/tender requirements
    • Liaise with post awards implementation colleagues to provide a string handover of successful bids

    Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate has experience working in international development with USAID, FCDO, and other multilateral/bilateral donors. The post holder will have extensive experience of pricing and cost development for large and complex awards and contracts

    • Bachelor’s in business, accounting, finance, public administration or other related field. M.A. preferred or equivalent work experience required
    • Four plus years of experience in government contracting strong preference for experience with USAID.  FCDO experience a plus
    • Strong understanding of USAID rules and regulations and/or FCDO commercial contract requirements
    • Working knowledge of contract types including Cooperative Agreements, grants, CPFF, CPAF, FFP, T&M, IDIQ, and/or FCDO commercial contracts
    • Demonstrate experience working cross-functionally on complex projects
    • Experience working under hard deadlines and managing multi-deliverable projects
    • Working knowledge of various project financial indicators and accounting principles
    • Knowledgeable on developing back of the envelope (BOE) budgets for discussion and cost strategies
    • Exceptional attention to detail and exceptional communication skills
    • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
    • Ability to take full ownership of the cost volume with minimal oversight

    Protection Assistant

    Job Description
    The overall purpose of this role is to provide general support to Protection activities under the Integrated Emergency Health, Nutrition, and Cash response in drought-affected areas in Dadaab and Fafi sub-counties in Garissa County. Based in Hagadera main office, and under the direct supervision and mentorship of the Safe Programming Officer (SPO), the person will be responsible in contributing to the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of protection mainstreaming activities.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • The Protection Assistant will provide support in prioritizing Do No Harm assessments, accessibility audits and client satisfaction surveys to ensure that project interventions are accessible, safe, and meets the needs of the affected population.
    • In collaboration with the Supervisor and sectoral leads, map outreach locations and conduct information dissemination sessions on available services, general protections issues, client rights, and how to make complaints.
    • Support in facilitating the involvement of affected population in the project implementation to ensure their regular participation in decisions that affect them.
    • Support community-based structures by facilitating relevant group dialogue and mentoring participants to self-identify protection concerns that affect their communities while accessing IRC services, and contribute in generating community-based solutions.
    • Under the guidance of SPO, and in coordination with Client Feedback Assistant and MEAL, supervise and improve awareness, accessibility, and efficiency of the reactive feedback Complaint and Feedback Mechanism (CFM)s
    • In coordination with Client Feedback Assistant, ensure that any feedback or complaint feeds into the Feedback Registry, and that timely response is provided to clients and the community.
    • Provide support to the Protection team in organizing and facilitating proactive engagements like dialogue meetings with leaders, focus group discussions with at-risk groups such as minority groups, older persons and persons with disabilities, any other relevant protection assessments.
    • Identify protection risks, providing protection responses to individuals, including referrals and referral tracking.
    • Support in organizing and training staff on Protection principles and other cross cutting issues like PSEA, Fraud and Corruption Prevention to the implementing teams.
    • Accurately document protection assistance data and information and safely storing all information and records.
    • Contribute to mapping of protection actors and services in Hagadera.
    • Prepare requests for individual assistance requests, and support in delivering the assistance.
    • Submit weekly activity reports to the supervisor.
    • Supervise volunteers, ensuring they are working as scheduled, providing coaching on their roles, and consolidating their activity reports.

    Qualifications

    • A Diploma or University degree in Human rights, Law, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Development Studies, Community development or any Social Sciences related qualification.
    • At least 2 years of professional experience in the field of protection interventions, human rights, community development, counselling, or other related humanitarian interventions.

    Officer, Prospect Research - Global

    The Officer, Prospect Research - Global sits within GPPS’s Prospect Research & Management team, supporting the IRC’s sustainability by finding opportunities for funding, focusing our resources, and protecting our reputation through due diligence. They are responsible for rigorously synthesizing data and information sources, providing senior staff and frontline fundraisers with high-quality research on foundations, corporations, and individual donors based outside the US, as well as strategic feedback for board meetings, donor meetings, and events. The right candidate will build positive relationships across internal teams and external vendors, while delivering superior research and reporting services that ultimately increase philanthropic support for our clients.

    Major Responsibilities:

    • Create confidential biographical, financial, and due diligence research profiles on foundations, corporations, and global HNWI donors and prospects, applying different online and electronic sources;
    • Build robust pipelines for fundraisers by identifying, rating, and qualifying HNWI donors capable of significant financial support;
    • Implement and improve tools and methods to support comprehensive prospect research and portfolio management, including relationship mapping, analytics, predictive modeling, and other appropriate metrics;
    • Integrate data-driven and qualitative analyses of specific client and broader trends into tactics and strategies for client management, opportunity development, and maximized revenue;
    • Promote research support services to colleagues through presentations and reports, and establish benchmarking to evaluate efficiency of research recommendations and products;
    • Collaborate with global frontline fundraising colleagues to develop strategic recommendations for donors and prospects, with the broader goal to increase support for the IRC’s clients;
    • Manage a suite of resources (e.g. CRM database, subscription databases and media tools) to understand and respond to market-led and client-specific opportunities;
    • Conceptualize special projects (e.g. electronic screening by vendors, data mining analyses, ad hoc reports, etc.) and conduct proactive research projects in partnership with colleagues across the organization.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree – Master’s degree preferred
    • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis and business intelligence work in support of non-profit fundraising, with familiarity of corporations, foundations, and/or markets outside the US;
    • High proficiency in internet search engines and sophisticated search techniques, fundraising software, data retrieval services (e.g. LexisNexis, iWave, Foundation Directory, etc.), MS Office (Word, Outlook and Excel, in particular).
    • Experience working with a relational database a necessity, preferably Salesforce;

    Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

    • Research/database management (Salesforce);
    • Analyzing, interpreting, and synthesizing data;
    • Ability to develop proactive prospecting methodologies to support organizational goals, including data mining, sophisticated constituent database queries, etc;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as, an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Keen understanding of philanthropic trends, in particular the impacts on humanitarian aid sector
    • Knowledge and curiosity about emerging concepts and practices in the field of strategic philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, Public Private Partnerships, and impact investing;
    • Strong interpersonal and time-management skills; confirmed ability to prioritize and deliver on time;
    • Ability to act with sensitivity and discretion while working with highly confidential information;
    • Knowledge of languages other than English a plus;
    • Prior experience working at an international organization outside the US.
