    Sectional IP Network Engineer

    Role Purpose: 

    The incumbent will be responsible for performing all on-site installation, repair, maintenance and test activities in the assigned area, ensuring the quality and continuity of the services as per the company KPIs, within the budgeted costs. Accomplish the network extensions, detect and repair dysfunctions of network elements. Undertaking all customer links support tasks in external facilities and customer premises. Guaranteeing that the work progress accurately follows the agenda.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support the implementation of different IP Network equipment to fulfil solutions designed and sold by the commercial team
    • Understand customer and solution requirements and assist during surveys in the qualification processes by utilizing the company’s standard products and services portfolio
    • Responsible for accomplishing technical content of the support, implementation and deployment process
    • Establishes voice and data IP networks by Configuring switches and routers , structured cabling, , and splicing Optic fibers , installing telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays; Routing Channels , equipment commissioning up to  industry standards and coordinating with various services contractors.
    • Prepare configuration diagrams and specifications on the service installation cards or on the routine maintenance job cards.
    • Handling Operation and maintenance tasks such as testing circuits, equipment, alarms clearance and escalating critical problems to the respective Regional Team Leader.
    • Responsible for meeting daily maintenance service to achieve customer satisfaction through network availability.
    • Maintains constant communication with Customers, Customer Experience Centre & Help Desk by listening to and resolving raised network concerns by providing solutions to queries and providing continuous updates up to closure of incident or requests.
    • Enhances department and organization performance through timely completion of different requests by exploring opportunities that add value.
    • Review all works orders and prepare formal reports weekly and consolidate monthly and annually.
    • Maintain a safe work environment by following HSE, engineering standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
    • Attend weekly regional meetings, Priorities special projects and prepare exclusive reports
    • Conduct site surveys, pilot program service activities e.g. Proof of Concepts (POC)

    Academic Background & Professional Knowledge

    • Diploma in telecommunication with 3 years working in Telecom industry

                           OR

    • Degree in BSc Computer Science, Engineering or Telecommunication plus 3 years equivalent work experience.
    •  Professional registration with Engineering Council.
    • Cisco qualifications, minimum CCNA, or any other IP Network certification.
    • 1 to 2 years’ Experience With a portfolio of work that you’ve done or projects you have contributed to during your placement or previous employment.

    Here are the skills we are looking for

    • Strong organizational skills with a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant technical experience within a large national network
    •  Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    •  Knowledge of SIP and experience in working with SIP providers
    • Must have routing and switching experience (Very Important!!) with hands-on proficiency in configuring Multivendor Routers and Switches
    • Demonstrate knowledge on BGP, IS-IS, OSPF protocols, Firewall rules, and Best practices.
    •  Able to offer engineering solutions based on a thorough understanding of Data Network architecture, topology, and other configuration details.
    • Maintain a record of engineering solutions, such as detailed engineering requirements, detailed reference design, and detailed integration test plan documents.
    • Conduct high-quality and comprehensive lab tests to prove the viability of proposed engineering solutions.
    •  Demonstrate the use of the system, security, and network monitoring tools.

    Network Transport Planning Engineer

    Role Purpose: 

    The incumbent will be responsible for the planning, designing, implementation and optimization of IP and access solutions (Mobile Packet Backbone Network, Fixed access network, Internet gateway and Mobile Backhaul. The incumbent will work closely with transmission and fiber planning engineers to deliver the most optimal transport solution.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Tracking equipment life cycle and features
    • Plan/prepare the IP network for technology evolution
    • Design the IP network for new elements and services to be added
    • Create KPIs for new products/services
    • Analyze the IP network on a weekly basis against the KPI
    • Minimize network and service impact for any change and scheduling all planned works
    • Create, update  and handover system configuration documentation after software/hardware upgrade to operations
    • Analyze the effect of a change before & after implementation
    • Provide recommendation reports to Identify opportunities for improvement and optimization of existing services
    • Act as a point of escalation for operational issues
    • Contribute to the cost saving targets of the function
    • Vendor management – Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to specification
    • IP and access network database & inventory management

    Academic Background & Professional Knowledge

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in  Telecommunication Engineering/Electrical and Electronic engineering
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the planning and design of transmission/IP networks

    Here are the Skills we are looking for

    • Proficient in routing protocols OSPF,ISIS, BGP and L2 & L3 MPLS VPNs, segment routing
    • Conversant with carrier Ethernet technical specifications E-line, E-LAN and E tree 
    • Conversant with ITIL framework approach to IT service management 
    • Developing  HLD,LLD and MoP documents 
    • Conversant with MEF’s third network
    • Understanding of GSM network architecture

    Core Network Engineer –Planning

    Role Purpose: 

    • The incumbent will be in charge of all planning pertaining to the Telkom CS/PS Switch Core Network. This involves planning, architectural design and implementation of projects that touch on the CS/PS switch mobile network.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • In charge of Planning and design for all PS/CS-Core nodes and interfaces in TKL network.
    • Translate marketing inputs into core network architecture and design for GSM/WCDMA/LTE CS/PS Switched network.
    • Assist in resolution of faults related to design on all equipment under core network domain.
    •  Configure data for new systems with vendors and create work instructions for existing systems.
    •  Provide recommendation reports to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization of existing Core services.
    •  Manage all software and hardware installations for the Core nodes.
    •  Set relevant KPIs for the core network and ensure the same are met.
    •  Build internal and external relationships with key customers and suppliers to deliver continuous quality solutions to the business.
    • Application for Work Orders for network changes/integration and ensure that they are followed by the implementation teams
    • Research and development of new features, solutions & technologies.

    Academic Background & Professional Knowledge

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics engineering, Computer Science, Information Technologies or a related technical field
    • A minimum of 1 year experience in the planning and design of GSM systems
    • CCNA or relevant certification in IP networking
