    Senior Officer – Information Risk

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Principal Officer – Information Risk, the position is responsible for assuring oversight on Information Risk by implementing a comprehensive programme to assess and mitigate current and emerging risks that impact the integrity, availability, accountability and confidentiality of information assets and the information environment in accordance with compliance and regulatory requirements. The position will be within the ERM C.O.E while supporting various squads in information risk assurance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Development d review and review of Information and cyber security policies, standards, Guidelines and procedures across the company and the monitoring thereof.
    • Review and ensure adequate policies are implemented to manage information risk across the company.
    • Offer specialist guidance & advisory to the agile teams and other business units for timely assurance of key/special projects.
    • Provide guidance in the interpretations of current policies related to specific situations as they arise.
    • Create awareness on the policies in place across the company.
    • Conduct policy exception reviews
    • Coordinate/facilitate enterprise information risk assessments at regular intervals to assess and track the health of information management across the company bi-annually.
    • Follow up and ensure agree upon action points are implemented effectively and on time.
    • Perform ad-hoc risk assessments as per managements request
    • Offer guidance on security risks on emerging threats and advise the business accordingly
    • Develop and embed appropriate information risk awareness initiatives across the business
    • Extend the security awareness culture to the customers and other critical stakeholders.
    • Offer guidance on the planning, implementation, monitoring and review of ISMS.
    • Provide and support the custodians of information security monitoring tools in defining

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Degree in IT, Business Information Systems (or related technical field) from a recognized university
    • Experience working with agile methodologies, such as scrub and Kanban
    • Holder of at least on of the following certifications: CISA, CISM or CISSP
    • At least 5 years proven working experience in operational management of Information Systems / Information Security / Information Systems Audit role, or proven experience in business process assurance and/or risk analysis preferably in a telecommunications environment
    • Detailed knowledge of GSM and IT Networks is essential

    Data & Analytics Business Partner

    Brief Description;

    The role will report administratively to the Senior Manager Data & Analytics. The role holder will deliver on Business Intelligence & Analytics requirements from business units and proactively identify and provide timely and accurate data through analytics to aid decision making & product development.

    Job Responsibilities;               

    • Embedded within business units to ensure requirements for reporting & analysis are delivered in a timely manner and reporting automation is prioritized and delivered
    • Work closely with business unit to understand business reporting requirements, determine relevant databases/data sources and generate insights for decision making. Design and develop end user dashboards and provide proactive assurance on BI numbers as the single source of truth
    • Handle large datasets and conduct adhoc analyses to help decision making and drive customer experience initiatives. The work will involve identifying cross-functional data, preparing data, summarizing and tabulating the results in standard BI front end applications
    • Champion self- service/ data fetch culture for reporting by users within the business units
    • Responsible for cross tabbing qualitative market intelligence and insights from the regions to explain outlier KPI movements including linking of lead and lag measures.
    • Embedding RTC productivity and efficiency within real-time automated cross channel view dashboards.
    • Providing omni-channel dashboards to allow 360-degree insights on customer behavior.
    • Responsible for setting up tracking mechanism to monitor various analytics programs (cross-sell, pricing, etc.), conducting deep dives into success/failure of those programs and incorporate learnings in future programs
    • Align requirements to overall defined priorities for analytics and manage delivery within strict timelines
    • Ensure Analytics requirements and programs align to data governance standards defined
    • Analyze and guide on analytical tools best fit to deliver business requirements
    • Participate and support customer experience initiatives and provide insights through the use of analytics
    • Actively participate in the design and migration from the current BI platform to the new Big data platform
    • Liaise closely with digital IT, Tribes and PMO to ensure that new products and services are delivered with the right and relevance level of reporting before they go live.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelors or Masters in Software Engineering, Statistics, Econometrics, Math or any related field
    • 3-5 years of experience in generating business insights by running adhoc analysis (trend and distribution analysis) and have good commercial understanding
    • Expertise in various BI and analytics tools such and Oracle OBIEE, Business Objects, Tableau, Qlick View or MicroStrategy
    • Experience in setting up datamarts, designing and developing ETL and reporting dashboards
    • Analytics experience in one or more of these areas: campaign management, sales, credit scoring product design, pricing, supply chain, network, customer care would be an added advantage
    • Good communication and presentation (oral and written) skills
    • Experience in telecom, financial services or similar industries
    • Hands-on experience in statistical modeling would be an added advantage. Statistical experience can include developing regression models, factor analysis, clustering, decision trees, etc.
    • Proficiency in using the Hyperion Financial Management system for planning and reporting

    Manager - Public Policy

    Reporting to the Senior Manager Public Policy and Market Regulation the position holder will provide Safaricom with skilled and professional analytical and advisory services, with an emphasis on public policy issues, industry engagements, proactive policy review, research and development as well as strategic stakeholder mapping and management to support Safaricom’s business objectives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Identify policy and legislative priorities for Safaricom.
    • Prepare opinion pieces, white papers and any other relevant documents detailing Safaricom’s position on matters of public policy.
    • Develop and lobby/advocate for establishment of relevant policies that support Safaricom’s business objectives and priorities.
    • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in developing industry policies, legislation, guidelines and codes of practice on.
    • Prepare expert opinions and advisories to the business on upcoming changes to policies, laws, regulations and guidelines.
    • Monitor and advise the business on changes in policy and legislation and guide various business teams in adopting the changes to business processes, policies and product portfolios.
    • Monitor and research current and relevant emerging public policy issues
    • Recommend best practice methods for policy and legislative interventions and public policy matters and
    • Push for adoption of policy and legislative best practices by strategic and Active lobbying of relevant stakeholders on identified
    • Prepare detailed submissions representing Safaricom’s view in changes in policies, laws, regulations and guidelines.
    • Engage and participate actively in industry bodies to ensure unified approach to common industry concerns for the benefit of Safaricom.
    • Keep abreast with parliamentary discussions on matters affecting Safaricom’s business.
    • Track progress of parliamentary bills and align reevant internal stakeholders;
    • Review the political landscape from time to time and advise business on likely impact to its objectives

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business, Policy or Social Sciences from a reputable university
    • At least four years relevant post-graduation experience in an ICT company or regulator
    • Demonstrable knowledge in public policy, preferably in the ICT sector
    • Excellent knowledge and experience in the Kenyan ICT and regulatory environment
    • Advanced knowledge and understanding of contractual matters.
    • Attention to detail with good organizational, planning, report writing and presentation skills.
    • Proactive, confident, energetic with the ability to work under pressure, to tight schedules/deadlines and monitor and follow up on all actions taken.

    Manager – Market Regulation

    Brief Posting Description

    Reporting to the Senior Manager – Public Policy and Market Regulation the role holder will provide Safaricom with skilled and professional analytical and advisory services, with an emphasis on regulatory and public policy issues, handling regulatory consumer-related matters, industry engagements, policy review, research, management of interconnection and regulatory contracts and related inter-operator activities of Safaricom.

    Job Responsibilities

    Consumer Protection

    • Provide guidance in the management of queries and disputes arising from. Regulators such as the CA, CAK, KCAA, NEMA etc and escalations from other business functions.
    • Disputes from Interconnection and other regulatory agreements. Ensure all the required procedures under the agreement and regulations are observed in resolving the dispute.
    • To substantively respond to consumer-related complaints from CA, CAK etc.

    Regulatory Products and Services Support

    • Obtain timely approvals from CA for the launch of products and services.
    • Advise and support commercial units on regulatory requirements for roll out of products and services.
    • Identify regulatory opportunities for launch of new innovations.
    • Ensure Terms and Conditions for new products and services are customer centric and comply with consumer protection laws.

    Wholesale Contract Management

    • Negotiate, draft, review and file management 
    • Interconnection agreements for national, IDD and VoIP
    • Roaming and signalling contracts
    • International carrier agreements
    • Co-location and facility sharing agreements.
    • National capacity leases

    Stakeholder Management

    • Participate and represent Safaricom in industry events.
    • Articulate business position in industry events.
    • Support in strategizing and execution of stakeholder engagement initiatives.
    •  Maintain positive relationships between Safaricom, Regulators, National Government and other stakeholders that will assist Safaricom achieve its commercial objectives.
    • Contribute in developing industry policy, legislation, guidelines and codes of practice.
    • Represent Safaricom in industry initiatives i.e. Child Online Safety and Child Online Protection, Subscriber Registration etc.
    • Oversee adoption of industry policies and legislative changes into internal processes, products and services.
    • Engage and participate actively in industry initiatives to ensure unified approach to common industry concerns for the benefit of Safaricom.

    Job Requirements                         

    • A degree in law or a business-related field from a recognized university.
    • Certification in Public Policy, Legislative drafting would be an advantage.
    • A minimum of four years’ experience in an ICT company or regulatory authority
    • In-depth understanding of the Kenyan ICT regulatory framework and environment
    • Advanced knowledge and experience in negotiating and drafting technical contracts
