    Assistant Engineer, Electrical Engineering

    REF: TNH/HRD/AEE/082023

    • The Assistant Engineer electrical conducts general supervision. Performs work in the maintenance, installation, construction, modification, repair and maintenance of Electrical & Electronic systems, equipment and processes; act as lead worker to other technicians; and perform related work as required

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    •  Providing leadership in electrical and electronic related section Troubleshooting, repair and maintain electrical distribution systems including electric motors, electric controls, fire alarms, and other electrical systems.
    •  Installation, troubleshoot and repair new equipment and systems, including all hospital lights and electrical controls
    •  Ensure that routine maintenance of assets and equipment like the generators is carried out.
    •  Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to National Electrical
    • Code Requirements and reports back to Head of Engineering.
    •  Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new installations.
    •  Make rough sketches; estimate cost, time and materials of electrical work;
    •  Analyse and respond safely and appropriately to emergency situations;
    •  Perform preventive maintenance on switch gears and transformers;
    •  Prepare, read and comprehend plans and drawings as appropriate to trade;
    •  Train and direct the work of other staff in the section;
    •  Follow and give oral and written instructions to technicians
    •  Achievement of set objectives
    •  Timely response to maintenance in electrical and electronic services
    •  Allocation of duties
    •  Annual leaves in consultation with Head of Engineering
    •  Enforcement of performance and professional standards by technicians
    •  Records of unit inventories
    •  Management of utility bills and energy management
    •  Reports regularly on the above to Head of Engineering
    •  Orientation of staff
    •  Performance management of technicians under supervision of the Assistant Engineer electrical
    •  Managing performance and corrective measures for unsatisfactory performance technicians
    •  Staff profiling
    •  Participate in training programs offered by the hospital and to continually develop skills and acquire additional knowledge appropriate to this position.
    •  Participates in overall management of the Engineering department, via sitting in team meetings and advisory committees.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    •  A Bachelor’s Degree Electrical & Electronics Engineering
    •  Registered with Engineers Board of Kenya and a member if Institution of Engineers of Kenya in good standing
    •  Member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya
    •  At least 3 years of relevant experience

    Senior Engineer

    REF: TNH/HRD/SE/08/2023

    • The successful candidate will plan, coordinate Engineering operations of Nairobi Hospital including Biomedical and General Maintenance under the guidance of the Head of Engineering.
    • Responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and sustainability of the Engineering Department through proper planning for Planned Preventive Maintenance, Reactive Maintenance and Safety in departmental operations.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    •  Consult and coordinate with various internal clients (hospital departments and/or staff) to help identify and refine the hospital equipment maintenance needs and requirements and use that to develop various types of maintenance approaches and maintenance briefs.
    •  Ensure maintenance plans are prepared for all projects that are handed over for operations
    •  Follow up on monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of Department's performance against operational goals
    •  Provide regular written and verbal updates and reports to the Head of Engineering.
    •  To provide technical assistance and technical information related to hospital maintenance to hospital departments and outside consultants when required.
    •  Improve the operational systems, processes and policies of the Engineering Department in support of TNH’s mission, support and implement better reporting, information flow and departmental planning.
    •  Maintain a good working relationship with internal (TNH departments and people) and external (contractors and vendors) clients to ensure that all requirements are met and alignment of processes/policies.
    •  In liaison with the Head of Engineering, develop maintenance plans which translate to operational activities.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    •  Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering Degree from an accredited program. Other engineering degrees may be considered with relevant work experience.
    •  Registered with Engineers board of Kenya and a Member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya
    •  Minimum of two (5) years work experience in engineering systems
    •  Must be adept in use of MS Office latest edition, particularly Excel and Word, Internet and email
    •  Working knowledge of the use of CAD software preferably AutoCAD, ms-project

    Upholster

    REF: TNH/HR/U/082023

    • Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance, the overall purpose of this job is to make, repair, or replace upholstery for furniture or fittings and installations within the Hospital by applying their knowledge of upholstery using a variety of hand or power tools.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    •  Build furniture up with loose fibre stuffing, cotton, felt, or foam padding to form smooth, rounded surfaces;
    •  Examine furniture frames, upholstery, springs, and webbing to locate defects;
    •  Make, restore, or create custom upholstered furniture, using hand tools and knowledge of fabrics and upholstery methods;
    •  Operate sewing machines or sew upholstery by hand to seam cushions and join various sections of covering material;
    •  Sew rips or tears in material, or create tufting, using needles and thread;
    •  Ensure projects are completed and delivered before set deadline;
    •  Conduct routine maintenance of work tools and upholstery machine; and
    •  Any other responsibility that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    •  Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum of C-;  Grade III, II or I Trade Test from Government of Kenya.
    •  Minimum of 5 years’ upholstery experience
