    Graphic Designer/Video Editor

    Job REF No. HRD/CD/GD/01/2022

    The holder of this position will be charged with production of creative and innovative graphic designs and animated products for production, marketing, sales, digital and editorial purposes.

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful candidate will among others be able to do the following;

    • Provide creative graphics solutions to meet the needs of various departments.
    • Confer and liaise with business executives and commercial producers to ensure efficient and timely execution of clients’ briefs
    • Create 2D and 3D model animations and execute as briefed
    • Contribute to team effort to ensure tasks are completed on time
    • Ensure the station’s look and feel is protected by adhering to approved designs, fonts, colors, layouts and settings.
    • Design and produce graphics for live on air or taped programs as requested by news producers, programme producers and transmission controllers
    • Source, select and reproduce library music to go with designed properties
    • Suggest ways of improving the look and feel of different properties and shows
    • Provide creative graphics solutions to meet the needs of various departments.
    • Determining size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and font style and size.
    • Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements if required.
    • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and developing interactive design.
    • Advice clients on strategies to reach a particular audience.
    • Work with and creatively manipulate raw camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects.
    • Cut shot sequences to different angles at specific points in scenes, making each individual cut as fluid and seamless as possible.
    • Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity
    • Creatively Input music, dialogue, graphics and effects
    • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency

    Skills and Personal attribute

    • Conversant with broadcast graphics design, editing and animation software including After effects, 3D studio max, Cinema 4D, 3D Maya, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe illustrator, Adobe Premier or Final cut.
    • Ability and willingness to train in station’s live-on-air systems including Wasp3D, Viz RT among others.
    • Be very creative and innovative despite working under pressure and long hours
    • Ability to pay attention to detail and keep strict deadlines
    • A team player, patient, active listener and a problem solver
    • Passionate about motion graphics design and its related tasks
    • Skilled in capturing and editing video, audio and text
    • Follow-up of assignments till completion and a clear focus on results and seamless delivery
    • Ability to understand, read and write in English and Kiswahili
    • Game design and UX design skills are an added advantage
    • Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages with a strong portfolio
    • Exposure to digital/mobile platforms
    • Incisive knowledge of the Kenyan and global media tends/scene

    Academic and professional experience

    • Degree or diploma in graphics design.
    • Working experience at a broadcasting house will be an added advantage.

    Digital Reporter/Social Media Officer

    The job holder will be responsible for generating online news content for the Company. The ideal candidate will manage the Company’s Online News platforms under the Digital Sub-Editor. He/she will also provide news stories, features and other news related articles to strengthen the Company’s online news platforms.

    The Digital Reporter/Social Media Officer role will include the following: –

    • Aid in generating news stories for all online platforms
    • Proof-read all online stories before submitting copy to the editor

    Royal Media Services Limited wishes to recruit a high caliber individual in the position of Head of Radio for Magalata FM. They will assist senior level management to run the station in all aspects.

    Key roles & responsibilities

    The successful candidate will work to successfully execute the following responsibilities;

    • Ensure smooth and consistent running of the stations’ day to day operations
    • Focus and deliver the agreed on positioning for the Station.
    • Execute strategic plan in consultation with senior level management for the station.
    • Grow stations’ audience progressively.
    • Support sales function, attend client meetings and actualize client briefs, towards growing stations revenues.
    • Ensure quality control, improve the stations’ on air sound, constantly evaluate and guide talent and station performance.
    • Accept responsibility for on-air and support (production and traffic) staff
    • Create schedules to guide operations and assign responsibilities as appropriate.
    • Consolidate and deliver requisite reports to senior level management, and provide regular input for programming optimization.
