    Legal Counsel (Maternity Cover)

    Principal Accountabilities
    Delivering high quality and professional advice and support to SCI Country Offices and Global Teams on a diverse range of legal issues, including:

    • Acting as the Legal Business Partner to SCI Country Offices in the West and Central Africa region (and/or other regions), providing timely, pragmatic and solutions-oriented legal support.
    • Advising Global Teams and senior stakeholders on matters of global scope or implication, including on legal risk and governance-related matters;
    • Advising on the legal aspects of scaling up programming operations, in particular, in a humanitarian crisis;
    • Advising on issues arising under Save the Children’s own internal framework;
    • Managing advice from and relationships with SCI’s external legal advisors and helping SCI stakeholders to interpret and apply such advice;
    • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts (including partnership agreements, goods and services contracts, and other legal frameworks with Governments, multi-lateral agencies, United Nations agencies, private sector and other NGOs), including providing advice and legal support to other Global Teams Business Partners, Country Office and Global Teams stakeholders and wider Save the Children constituents; 
    • Identifying opportunities for training and new legal tools to manage and mitigate organisational risk, developing and delivering such training and tools; 
    • Lead legal team initiatives, for example relating to managing and fostering pro bono law firm relationships, identifying training and mentoring opportunities within the legal team;
    • Advising on legal compliance areas such as fraud, sanctions and anti-terrorism, either working in conjunction with SCI’s legal compliance team or independently (as required and as appropriate); and
    • Undertake line management if required (formal or informal) and/or mentoring of more junior members of the team.

    Experience and Skills
    Essential

    • Post-qualification experience gained in a reputable private practice or in-house legal team in one or more of the following areas of law: general corporate/commercial, charity/not-for profit, dispute resolution, regulatory.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong prioritisation skills.
    • Ability to work independently, requesting support where needed and using initiative to tackle new areas of law with confidence.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with people at all levels and across different cultures.
    • Calm disposition, constructive approach and positive outlook, particularly when working under pressure.
    • Team player, with a full appreciation of the value of collaboration. 
    • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Save the Children. 

    Desirable

    • Proficiency in French (written and spoken).
    • Experience in one or more of the following areas of law: employment, finance, data protection, intellectual property or dispute resolution.
    • Experience operating in a range of jurisdictions, including instructing overseas counsel.
    • Experience in the international development / humanitarian and/or charity sectors.

    Senior Specialist - Finance Business Partner

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Provide strategic financial management, oversight and advisory to teams within the assigned department(s), including monthly reporting process, annual budget and reforecasts. 
    • Deliver meaningful financial analysis to support strategic and management decision making for SCI Leadership team and other key stakeholders. 
    • Provide ongoing monitoring of departemental spending and cost recovery risks across relevant funding types and develop/maintain required tools to achieve same effectively. 
    • Take relevant action to ensure that team /departemental cost recoveries are processed in a timeline, compliant and efficient manner.
    • Strategic partnering of key stakeholders to uplift overall performance, manage financial risks and provide clear financial visibility. 
    • Develop and maintain financial plans for relevant investments made by the assigned departments and monitor the achievement of desired benefits.
    • Work with business partners across the FP&P team to review processes and tools in place, identify opportunities for improvements and standardisation to drive efficiencies across the team. 
    • Business Partner with key stakeholders to support on global KPI improvements and uplift overall performance, providing guidance, advice and dealing with all finance-related queries. 
    • Undertake additional duties, supporting other senior Finance staff as and when required.

    Experience and Skills
    Essential

    • Well-developed analytical and business partnering skills, including expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and presenting complex financial information clearly and compellingly.
    • A thorough understanding of financial systems and procedures.
    • Understanding of key operational and strategic considerations relating to Awards Finance, Cost recovery and Business Innovation.
    • Builds and maintains effective relationships with team members, budget holders, and external partners to ensure coordinated financial management and reporting.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proven ability to interact with individuals at all levels and from various cultural backgrounds with credibility, tact, and diplomacy, both remotely and in person
    • Proactive and logical approach to problem-solving with the ability to anticipate requirements and obstacles.
    • Excellent IT literacy including advanced skills in spreadsheet modelling and analysis
    • Effective in managing and coordinating multiple financial tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner
    • Maintains a calm disposition and positive outlook particularly when working under pressure

    Desirable

    • Multi-Currency Environment: Significant experience working within a multi-currency finance environment.
    • Experience working with large data sets, including with data warehouses.
    • Experience working with Power Query, Power Pivot and/or Power BI.

    Audit Specialist

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Work closely with Senior Audit Specialists and the Global Assurance Management Team where relevant in planning, conducting, reporting and follow up assignments from the audit plan on time, to a high standard and within budget; 
    • Be involved in the annual planning exercise for SCI, in close collaboration with other assurance providers within Save the Children and, where necessary, external co-sourced providers such as consultants and professional services firms; 
    • Provide input to the preparation of operational and strategic audit plans, and into the future shape and direction of the Global Assurance department. Where assigned an area of specialism, apply technical and professional expertise in the development and pursuit of a detailed plan of engagement with the business lead(s); 
    • Respond to queries raised by management, providing prompt and professional advice as appropriate; 
    • Actively contribute to and work towards delivering Global Assurance’s transformation plans; 
    • In their interaction with ‘clients’, demonstrate professional acumen, interpersonal skills, and the delivery of first-class results with the aim to build strong relationships; 
    • Contribute to systems development work within Save the Children – especially at SCI – providing independent advice regarding appropriate levels of internal control & oversight; 
    • Promote ‘horizontal learning’ opportunities, ensuring that learning is identified and that good practice is shared actively; and 
    • Take the lead in own self-development and professional growth. This is by actively participating in performance management (by providing developmental feedback to others within the team), and maintaining own professional certifications (through attaining the requisite continuous professional education).

    Essential

    • Have relevant experience in operational areas of risk to which Save the Children – primarily SCI – is exposed 
    • A demonstrable ability to focus on key issues, enabling auditees to focus on crucial matters of control and oversight 
    • Be detail-orientated, and able to complete multiple projects, with conflicting priorities, on a timely basis 
    • Have strong experience in producing high quality effective written communication e.g. reports, in English; and have exceptional communication skills and is able to articulate effectively at all levels 
    • Have strong interpersonal communication and coaching skills including a demonstrable ability to deliver difficult messages with tact and confidence. 
    • Be willing to undertake high amount of travel overseas and work with minimum supervision under difficult conditions in some of the most fragile, insecure and remote parts of the world 
    • Have a strong cultural awareness and be able to work well with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures; and be able to demonstrate standards of ethics and integrity 
    • Be committed to Save the Children’s values 

    Also, either: 

    • Have experience of evaluating systems and processes, identifying weaknesses and areas of improvements

    Head, Global Shared Services for CRM Project

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Project Leadership: Including direct and indirect management of team members and accountability to the CTO and SLT from impacted members on delivery of the Project 
    • Governance and Senior Stakeholder Engagement: Define, implement and manage Governance and Engagement with wider Senior leaders as well as setting up and managing reference groups to ensure input from key individuals has a forum for the duration of the Project 
    • Planning and Reporting: Including ensuing alignment with standard Project and Change Methodologies and associated Portfolio management requirements 
    • Budget management: Define and monitor ongoing management of the Budget for the Project, ensuring compliance with required processes and any issues are escalated and managed effectively in a timely way 
    • Future State Definition: Detailed Definition of the Future operating model and actions required to achieve the required Change Including all impacts on people (programme participants, partners and staff), processes, data and technology 
    • Dependency management: Working effectively with wider initiatives and functions to ensure dependencies are understood and actively managed with clear owners and accountability ensured 
    • Problem Solving: all projects face challenges along the way, and the Project Lead will need to take a hands on role to identify issues and ensure they are effectively managed through to resolution and any subsequent impacts are reported to Governance in a timely way

    Experience and Skills
    Essential

    • Considerable experience in the leadership, management and deployment of large, global, transformation projects within Save the Children and additional equivalent scale organisation across both system and non-system change. Demonstrates direct accountability for issue resolution and capacity building to empower others in problem-solving  
    • Hands on experience of complex CRM deployments, in a Fundraising Capacity, from feasibility through to design, develop and deployment 
    • Experience leading the setup of large-scale Global Transformation initiatives including recruitment of key roles, governance setup and functional alignment 
    • Familiarity with industry project (agile and waterfall) and change management standards including evidence of completing formal training, with the ability to hold project teams accountable to those standards  
    • Demonstrated experience leading engagement with Senior Leaders up to Board level and partnering with functional leaders across multiple functions 
    • Ability to lead the resolution of complex project issues with a balanced approach of pragmatism and rigour including experience leading others to deliver the required interventions and managing associated governance 
    • Line Management experience, including leading teams with multi layered hierarchies. As part of this, demonstrable coaching skills to develop others' capabilities in project management, change management, project feasibility, and initiation. 
    • Proven ability to operate successfully within a matrix organisation structure, overseeing resource without direct line management accountability and being experienced working across multiple different functional areas  
    • Operational expertise working with Digital technologies focused on transforming an organisation's ability to achieve data driven decision making 

    Desirable

    • Non-profit sector knowledge/experience 
    • Proficiency in a second core language of Save the Children (French, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic
